Best service ever from an agency

This summer, my husband and I and another couple stayed in Villa Purple in Taormina, managed by Scent of Sicily. The property was beyond gorgeous, and the welcome package that Scent of Sicily's facilitator, Loredana, put together for us was overwhelming: a champagne welcome, fresh, local fruit and tiramisu from a local restaurant.

The location and the space was very comfortable: plenty of intriguing outdoor space within the property's walls, it was a short walk to the town, there was a protected parking space, and indoors the air conditioning was reliable, the wifi worked, the TV got the stations we wanted to watch the world cup, and the place was absolutely quiet at night, to get a good night's rest. And the infinity pool made for heartbreakingly good photos.

Of course, there were small flaws to do with the property that caused some discomfort, such as the hot water being unreliable. When we reported the problem, Loredana had workers come to fix the problem that very day, but they seemed stumped by the issue and weren't able to fully address it, so that a few times one or all of us went without hot showers, though, as it was quite hot outside, we were usually able to at least quickly rinse off in the shower's cold water. For the very high price that we paid for this rental, I think this should not have been an issue.

I want to mention that Loredana was a sweetheart and incredibly available for anything we needed via whatsapp. She answered her texts even on the weekend, when I lost my passport, and she was able to advise me to go immediately to the police station (long story short, in doing so, I was reunited with my passport when a person found it and gave it to the police! Without her help that certainly wouldn't have happened).

In terms of Scent of Sicily, when I was setting up the booking, they were very communicative, though I found that sometimes the information that one agent would give me would vary slightly from what another agent had said, and this caused some confusion, but ultimately we were all able to get on the same page regarding the cost, the security deposit, and the cleaning fee.

For what it's worth, I think Scent of Sicily should consider waiving the cleaning fee. It is insanely expensive (300 EUR?!), and it was also frustrating that we were asked to hand over this enormous sum when we were also simultaneously required (in Scent of Sicily's welcome documents) to leave the place as we found it, including taking out the garbage, cleaning any utensils we'd used, and if I recall correctly, cleaning the linens as well. Because we were uncertain whether we'd get the security deposit back if we didn't do all those tasks, we spent the last afternoon of our vacation cleaning. I was left feeling like the 300EUR cleaning fee was money thrown away, since we had essentially left the place spotless and done the job for a cleaning person. If Scent of Sicily won't waive the fee, then they should absolutely allow renters to leave the house without taking out the garbage or doing the dishes. One or the other, not both.

Overall, however, this was a beautiful property, Scent of Sicily was trustworthy and available, and we had an incredible vacation, so I would recommend them.

We chose Sicily as a holiday destination for a reunion as our family is scattered around the world.
Villa Jasmine in Valderice was true to its photos and absolute luxury. I so wish I could return one day. We loved the region and felt we got to enjoy the real Sicilian experience as it wasn't so touristy as other parts of mainland Italy. There is plenty of sights to explore close by such as beautiful Erice and the Zangaro National Park
It was in a quiet area and our villa had all the amenities that anyone could possibly want, very clean large pool and beautiful garden
The hosts were there to meet us and very helpful and drove us to find the supermarket, restaurants' etc
Scent of Sicily was an unfamiliar booking site for us in Australia but very professional to deal with ,prompt with all communication and helpful with all requests. Our deposit bond was refunded in a timely way.

Villa Harmony (Casa Natia) absolutely exceeded our expectations. The location is perfectly positioned to visit the most beautiful sites of Baroque Sicily, right in the heart of this splendid corner of the island. The house is very beautiful, spotlessly clean, every detail seems thought through and reflects the sophistication and taste of the hosts. It is extremely relaxing, the only sounds coming from the surrounding countryside. Our kids loved the pool and the farm animals. We just wished we had more time to spend there. Everything from the initial booking to us leaving went smoothly and as planned. Villa Lilybeum looked beautiful in the online video but actually exceeded our expectations and requirements. It was stunning and well situated for food shopping, the fabulous Villa Favorita restaurant and sight seeing.

Very good location with beach bar (with excellent breakfast cappuccinos!) and local shop within walking distance and easy drive into lovely Marsala.
The villa was excellent - well equipped, very comfortable and in a gated friendly street of local Sicilians. Even nicer than expected!
The owner (Simona) was delightful, helpful and happy to answer any questions at any time.
We will certainly want to come back!

Excellent customer service - amazingly awesome villa! Truly beautiful!
The only thing I would say is that when, on Saturday afternoon, I was told that if I didn't pay my deposit by bank transfer by the next evening (Sunday), the villa would be put back in the market. As the banks in the U.K. And Italy are closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday, I was rather concerned that this website might be fake. Thank goodness it wasn't!
