Sentry safe structure failure

I’ve had a SentrySafe stored indoors in a climate-controlled environment its entire life, with desiccant inside and regular opening as recommended.
Despite that, the back of the safe is severely corroded, the coating is flaking off, and even a structural foot/plug has detached.
When I contacted support, I was told this is “normal,” even comparing it to a car breaking down, and that there was no way to escalate the issue.
I understand products age, but I would not expect internal corrosion to progress to visible exterior failure and structural components coming off—especially with proper care.
Sharing this so others are aware, and hoping someone from SentrySafe can review this more seriously.

I bought the 403.00 sentry safe from…

I bought the 403.00 sentry safe from Lowe’s 130lbs 2 cubic feet today. Brought my oldest boy with me and drove 15 miles to pick it up. Haul it in the house using a hand truck as I’m 50 cleared a space. Anyway buy Duracell batteries put it in and I could tell by how difficult the handle was to turn that something was wrong. The bars would not engage. Stickers on the safe saying call customer service they can help before returning. I called technical support and all he says is what’s the expiration date in the batteries I’m like I just bought them and there Duracell I bought two packs extra and they expire in 2037 put in second brand new pair and they safe handle is hard to move and doesn’t open. After that he says well problem is you bought Duracell batteries at the dollar general I said look man the lights are all working and the batteries are good. He says well batteries are 90% of it so if the batteries don’t work and their Duracell take it back. That’s all there technical support has is batteries! I mean this wasn’t the cheap safe a 400.00 safe and it can’t open I mean this isn’t super technical equipment here. Needless to say took at back to Lowe’s entire transaction from purchase to return 3hrs and 30 miles of driving to return the safe. I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND buying one of their safes as far as I’m concerned they are garbage. Lady asks at return you want another NOPE gimme my money not buying by a sentry or affiliate ever AGAIN! What a disappointment I understand problems happen but these safes are not like watches and are not easy to move so you would think they could up their quality especially something that someone buys for a lifetime and with the name of sentry they are clearly riding off! Not to mention all technical service has is recommending Duracell batteries that already tells me you know your product is crap! Gonna buy elsewhere great job keep it up your competition loves it!

Chronic issues getting the damn thing…

Chronic issues getting the damn thing open. Terrible suport. Glitchy unit that causes nothing but inconvenience. They should be paying me to own this piece of garbage. I just had to call a locksmith and sentry safe refuses to replace the safe. Hahahahhahahahaha what a scam I never saw anything this janky before in my life.

Horrible safe and horrible customer service

Wish I could leave a review less than 1 star. I have an FHW-40100. I went to open the other day and the button to open no longer functions so the safe is now locked shut. The safe was in new condition and is stored in a temp controlled, dry environment. It is not used frequently enough to cause it to be worn out.

I contacted Sentry and they told me there is nothing they can do, and I will have to force it open. They are not willing to compensate me or replace based on 1 year warranty being past.

Horrible safe and horrible customer service.

1 month old and is still unuseable

We received the safe after spending over $800. It was missing the battery compartment it's been unusable since purchase. After a few phone calls and several emails I still have no resolution I've not been informed if they even intend to send the $4.00 battery case or not. The service and support is non existent. To use the safe I will have to drive a 90k return journey to buy a battery holder from JayCar and wire it to the terminals myself it seems so I can use the safe I paid a lot of money for this safe from Officeworks. I even tried emailing other countries with no response. I surely wish I purchased a different safe I cannot review something I cannot use brand new as delivered. Not happy at all.

A safe that keeps you from accessing your valuables

We have only used this safe a few times. Now we can't get in. We were told to replace the batteries. Something I already did several times. I already did as they suggested and used NEW NAME BRAND (Duracell) alkaline batteries, they don't expire until Mar 2034. That didn't work. I was instructed to hit it with a hammer or rubber mallet. All that did was dent the safe. The retrieval of my items is time sensitive, so I now have to hire a locksmith to break into the safe. This safe is only 13 months old.

Great safe, solid company.

Recently purchased a SentrySafe for our home; we've been very pleased! The size is just right for our needs and it's very easy to operate. Having an online account (via registering the safe) allows retrieval of your combination and/or key code should either one ever get misplaced/forgotten.

Thankfully, the full scope of the safe's protective capabilities have yet to be tested (we haven't had a fire, thank goodness) with us. However, I have full confidence that our SentrySafe will keep our sensitive/stored items protected in case of the unforseen.

We recently received a SentrySafe and…

We recently received a SentrySafe and within a couple of months, the key jammed up, and we've had trouble unlocking and locking it. When we reached out to SentrySafe, they were able to provide some customer service and a kind coupon to compensate for our difficulty, but the coupon was for products that were only really in the $100-$500 price range. Overall, the customer service rep was friendly and helpful, but the customer service could have been better if they had offered more direct advice.

I made the mistake of purchasing a Sentry Safe...

I purchased a Sentry Safe. I never could get the door to open. I called Sentry within 2 weeks of the purchase and they refused to honor the warranty. I could not even manage to get the door open. Clearly that is a manufacturing issue. I cannot believe the way I was treated. Worst $80+ I have ever spent.
