We stayed at Holemoor Stables and
We stayed at Holemoor Stables and, overall, the property itself was lovely. We had a great holiday and enjoyed our time there.
Unfortunately, our departure experience overshadowed what had otherwise been a very positive stay.
The advertised check-out time was 10:00 am. However, at around 9:30 am, the cleaning team entered the property while my family and I were still inside. They did not knock on the door or contact us beforehand. They walked straight into the kitchen and began cleaning while we were still packing our belongings.
With 18 guests staying at the property, this created unnecessary stress and made us feel that our privacy was not respected. We ended up rushing to leave because the cleaners were already moving around the house before our check-out time had arrived.
To their credit, the booking team apologised for our experience and said they would raise the matter with the owner. However, the owner declined to offer any form of compensation or goodwill gesture, despite acknowledging our complaint.
Separately, during our stay, we accidentally damaged the induction hob. We accepted full responsibility immediately and agreed to pay the outstanding replacement cost without dispute.
While we take responsibility for our mistake, I also believe guests should be able to enjoy their privacy until the advertised check-out time. Entering the property before check-out, without knocking or notifying guests, is not the level of service I would expect from a holiday accommodation.
Overall, the property was excellent, but the way our departure was handled means I cannot give a higher rating.

We are, however, sorry to read that your departure experience left you feeling disappointed.
Having spoken with our Head Housekeeper, we would like to clarify what happened on the morning of your departure. At approximately 9:30am, she arrived at the rear of the property to carry out routine checks in the swimming pool plant room, which typically take around 10–15 minutes. During this time, she greeted a guest before walking towards the property, where she also spoke with another couple, asking whether they had enjoyed their stay and receiving a very positive response.
As the external doors were open, she tapped on the door before entering and greeted those present, asking how they were and whether they had enjoyed their holiday, as she routinely does to gather guest feedback. She then asked whether it would be convenient for her to access the pool and games room, which are located in a separate building, to begin her routine checks. Permission was given, and she carried out those checks.
At 10:00am, the advertised departure time, she returned to the main house to explain that the housekeeping team needed access so that the laundry could be prepared for collection. The guests indicated that this was absolutely fine, and the property was vacated at approximately 10:10am. This is the same departure procedure our housekeeping team follows each week, and they always endeavour to be polite, professional and respectful of guests while preparing the property for incoming arrivals.
We are naturally disappointed that our understanding of the events differs from the account in your review, particularly as your feedback during your stay and your original guest review rated the property 10 out of 10.
We also appreciate your acknowledgement regarding the accidental damage to the induction hob. We understand that accidents can happen and appreciate that you accepted responsibility for the replacement cost.

Lovely property
Lovely property, super comfy beds, beautiful surroundings. We were blessed with great weather so were outside alot. We enjoyed the pool, we barbecued and generally relaxed.

Fabulous accommodation
Fabulous accommodation, well well equipped throughout and sparkling clean. Super facilities to keep children and adults busy. Loved the pool. Plenty of room throughout. We had a great time.

Making Memories
Accommodation lovely, very spacious with very different quirky design features and all the facilities we needed. We had a brilliant family experience. The kids loved the swimming pool and the animals 😊
We enjoyed beautiful weather (up to 30 degrees)but could have done with some parasols as that prevented us from dining al fresco during the day and some extra fans would have been appreciated .
Communication from The Hesdin Team was very good, they answered any queries beforehand

Beautiful and quirky recommended stay!
This property was absolutely stunning, quirky and huge! We maxed out the capacity and did not feel like we were stepping on each other's toes. Spacious bedrooms and enough bathrooms to avoid arguments. The dining room and kitchen was where we did most of our socialising, oh and the hot tub!
On our last day we fancied a BBQ but couldn't quite get it going but help was on hand and they quickly came round to sort it for us. Absolutely lovely hosts!

The property exceeded expectations
The property exceeded expectations. We would have liked to be pre-warned about the narrow country lanes before hand. One of our party had a very low sports car which was not really suited to narrow lanes with grass growing down the middle. The views were magnificent and the pool most welcome in the heat.

It sounds as though Perys Hill gave you everything you hoped for once you arrived — especially those views and the pool during the hot weather!
We are sorry the approach was not clearer beforehand. The country lanes are part of the charm of this area, but we completely understand that they are not ideal for every vehicle. We will take this on board and look at making the access information more prominent for future guests.
Fantastic family celebrations
We had a brilliant stay at Churchill 20. The house with all its many amenities was a fantastic place to spend time together as a family of 10 adults and 7 grandchildren ranging from 6 - 16. Everything was spotless, the views were stunning and everywhere was well equipped. The pool area, with hot tub and sauna surpassed our expectations, the games room was enjoyed by everyone, the cinema room was fantastic and it was a welcome relief to have air conditioning throughout the property. We will definitely rebook in the future.

Although the weather was lovely, the heated pool made the difference, and was enjoyed by all.
