What is going on?

We are attending our first Starfury Convention this weekend - Crossroads. What started as excitement is turned to "what on earth is going on?".
Firstly - we have received no confirmation of any timings, we don't know when to arrive, check in, sign up or whatever. The website still says "guests to be announced".
We both enjoy a drink and a party, and wanted to socialise with other people, so were drawn in by the party theme nights - but they still say TBC. So no idea what theme it is tomorrow.
I just don't know what is going on to be honest. It is so clumsily and unprofessionally put together, I'm just anxious about even going.
Then to top it off, I look here for reviews - and it's filled with "no communication, no refunds, no answers" and issues with staff. Honestly, I'm a nervous wreck. If I hadn't spent the money I had, and paid for the hotel (which was also £60 cheaper than using the special link on the website) already - I wouldn't go.
I am hoping that I am swayed over the weekend, but so far it has been incredibly poor.

Guest cancelled last minute and still no refund after 28 days...

I was booked into a Doctor Who convention in Birmingham. 3 days before the event we were told that all guests were confirmed. The night before the event we received another message saying one of the main guests had pulled out. It seems as if there was an issue with not paying him. I had a photo and autograph booked with him and was told I'd be refunded and they legally had to do this within 28 days. It has now been over 28 days and still no refund for the photo. They are very slow to reply to messages and clearly incredibly unorganised and unprofessional. I wouldn't go near them again. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is due to the friendly volunteers on the weekend. Those in charge do not know how to run a business and clearly do not value good customer service.

Broken promises and lack of communication

I've been to a few Starfury events and up until now would always highly recommend their events.
Unfortunately the way they've handled the refunds for the Christmas regency ball event has been incredibly dissappointing. I appreciate that their normal policy is to not give refunds, however they actively contacted people after the event stating that we could receive a refund or transfer.
I responded asking for a refund for the 2 Gold tickets I'd bought for myself and my friend (circa £500). There were delays in the refunds being issued which was fine as I appreciate they run multiple events and Christmas is always a disruption. However, the delays lasted until February when Sean posted on the FB group that refunds were finally being processed.
What followed was a long drawn out process whereby refunds have apparently been issued to one group of customers but not all, leaving a group of us with no idea what's going on and ignored emails and messages.
As I said, prior to this I've always talked really positively about Starfury events and recommended them, but this has been an incredibly disappointing experience.

Starfury: An Unprofessional & Unresponsive Service

The fan event scheduled for February 2026 was cancelled due to a lack of guests. Back in July 2025, we were encouraged to “buy tickets” with the suggestion that a big guest would be announced, yet there was never any solid confirmation.

I paid £280 for a gold ticket and, to this day, I have not received my refund. Sean stated in an email on December 11, 2025, that those unable to attend the rescheduled event would be issued a full refund. A request I made that was very straightforward.

Despite sending multiple emails, I have yet to receive my refund or even confirmation that my messages are being received. Whether my emails are being blocked, ignored, or diverted to spam, the lack of communication is unacceptable. When I clearly requested a full refund, the response I received was irrelevant and failed to address my query entirely.

Communications have been absolutely poor. Instead, there has been silence, no apology, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused.

I want my money back Starfury!

Flux and Into the fold

Starfury is a great company, and I have already done two cons with them this year.

Into the fold and Flux. And I have tickets for the next year as well. Meeting Ncuti Gatwa was probably one of the best experiences.
They are not Comic Cons, they are hotel cons. Do not expect a comic con-style convention. I love the cosy style of a hotel convention, but for some people it's not busy enough.

10/10 I will be back :D

Huge fan of supernatural and was always frightened to fly to go to a supernatural convention as I’ve always seen them in America but thank you for star Fury. I was so happy I found out about star fury that holds a supernatural convention “crossroads” never in my life I would ever thought I would meet Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles not at the same time but at different crossroads events and it happened and I will forever cherish that moment …. And also met many other stars from supernatural ….. met some great staff members who I’m now friends with and I look forward to these events every year thank you staff Fury for bringing supernatural to the UK

You have made a number one die hard fan so happy :)

Sean Harry is a liar and a thief! Still waiting for refund over £500. Lies and lack of communication! Avoid! 🙄 😒

I can't begin to understand how Sean Harry is able to do this to so many people!
My experience is that I spent £522 on the Bridgerton ball event in March 2025.
The event was meant to take place in December 2025.
It was cancelled by Sean in October 2025 via email, giving me options to get a refund or choose another event. I followed the instructions and I asked for a refund.
I was informed via email that it wouldn't be until December that the money would be refunded. Two months delay seemed unusual but we had life stuff on and I didn't raise anything but waited until December.
No refund.
Ok, maybe at the end of the month?
Still no refund.
Well it's the busy season, I'll give Sean a nudge and remind him about my £522 that he has yet to refund.
Email sent. Auto reply only.
Again nothing.
January 2026... still no refund.
February 2026, another email, no refund.
We are now in March.
SIX MONTHS later since the event was cancelled. Still no communication. Still no refund.
Sean, you are clearly a liar and a thief and I have been saddened to hear that my experience is not a one off but that you have many more paying customers STILL WAITING FOR THEIR MONEY!
I'd give you 0 stars if I could.
I have the emails to prove all of the above. Happy to share the screenshots too on other platforms as hopefully that will encourage you to do what you said you would do MONTHS ago!

An absolutely abysmal experience

An absolutely abysmal experience for myself and a group of friends, as well as other friends who were present. Volunteer staff were mostly people completely unsuitable to the roles they were given, and utterly inappropriate in their conduct interacting with the public. Treatment of people for their accessibility issues was poor, with the organisers effectively shrugging off the concern at the time, and their follow-up being both weak & supplemented by an onslaught of long-time attendees further berating and belittling us for daring to be critical and honest about the experience... all of which the head organiser did not acknowledge when he chimed in on the conversation. Staff members were rarely contactable, and when they were, they were often bizarrely flippant and jokey about issues they'd had with booking two of the main guests (one of which did not appear, one of which did) for the event.

Additionally, people did not get their included autographs through no fault of their own, but the organiser's failure to call them through batch wise before dismissing certain guests.

We have not been made to feel welcome by the people who effectively operated the day-to-day, and we were not any further reassured by the lack of action upon other attendees who then sought to make us feel further unwelcome.

Cannot recommend this event for anyone with physical or neurological accessibility needs. We're also not confident that any action will be taken upon certain wrong-doers, as they seem to have personal ties to the lead organiser, and some other attendees who had been to previous Starfury events were honest to us after the event that these people have been problematic for a long time.

Abysmal situation. Go to other events.
Sincerely, a group of eleven disheartened and disappointed Doctor Who fans.

Flux was a mess!

What to say Flux was an absolute mess, the organisation was terrible, there was poor signage to say what was where and where the photos were. The staff were mainly all rude and shouting at people and when asked a simple question they were clueless. The no phone policy in the rooms with the guests are rediculous, they are behind screens so why can't we go on our phones. You can't expect people to queue for long periods of time without using their phone. I even showed a staff member I was playing a game and got screamed at saying they didn't care and there was no phones. No other con does this, if your phone is down facing the floor how are you taking photos? The whole thing feels militant. Also other events allow you to pick up your photos straight away, in this one you have to wait. I will not be returning for Flux 2

Complaints or problems with staff Fury

My issue with staff fury conventions is more my complaint about the way it’s handled with the staff so I did my first star fury event a couple of years ago and I met a woman at the front desk and she was just so rude. It was on it almost made me never wanted to do a convention with star Fury again and I’ve done a couple others since then and I’ve had the same experience with different members of the same staff since that incident I had a woman in a wheelchair who was part of the staff I noticed that when people were asking her questions, she would roll her eyes and scarf as the people walked away and it’s not. It’s not the show that’s the issue. It’s the staff for me. Some of them are lovely some of them I have a lot of respect for, but there’s a good couple of them that need to really stop with the rudeness because it makes the company look bad. They put on great comic cons but yeah the staff are very rude. A couple of the conventions I’ve done with them.

Zero communication and no compassion

Zero communication and no compassion. Star Fury do not respond to emails and have no flexibility. If you can’t attend they don’t respond or offer anything. We asked for our inclusions - autographs etc when we couldn’t attend and offered to pay for postage-seemed reasonable given the cost of the ticket. No reply. Very disappointing. I recommend only buying tickets in the week before the event.
Have attended prior and the event as ok.

Great organization during convention

The Into the Fold 3 convention was run very well. As a convention newbie, I felt that the scheduling was clear and the staff were great and knowledgeable. They were incredibly kind to make sure I got a photo that I accidentally missed with two of the guests. They didn't add any unnecessary stress to the experience, and as a newbie (and therefore a bit overwhelmed in general) I don't think I could have asked for a better run convention.

Changed event dates and venue, no refund, no communication

First I want to add just to be completely fair: I attended Ascension I and it was amazing. No complaints whatsover about that.

BUT! And it's a big but: I purchased my Gold ticket for Ascension II right away because I loved the first event so much, and then they suddenly changed the date and venue completely. I sadly can't attend the event in that other city and at a different time because I'm from another country and I can't organize the travel like that. So, I asked for a refund and the problems started here! No answer to any emails at all. Nothing! And only snarky, rude answers on FB, no refund, no information as to when to expect anything, nobody to talk to about how it will be refunded (my card has since expired, so they should ask for me bank account number to be able to transfer the money back...), etc. I have screenshots of Sean telling me in a sarcastic way that I have no rights at all, and what do I want, what does it matter when they give us back the money, why can't we just be patient... things like that. It's been over 5 months, and I'm not the only one with that problem.
Now I had to start legal proceedings and hope that I can get somewhere with them just because the person responsible for the convention has chosen to play the 'power game' and not cooperate.

UPDATE: interestingly, just a few minutes after my review was posted here, I got banned from the Starfury Ascension Facebook group.
So, this is how they deal with things there... (Luckily, I have screenshots from everythings)

Poor do not book with this company

I cannot believe such a big company does not allow refunds or tickets to be sold on to make people lose over £200 and when emailed they just send an auto response disgusting and then guests can cancel at the last minutes and are replaced with mediocre replacements
I have emailed twice before and had the same auto response I can provide dates if you wish the comic con tickets are a fraction of the price and they allow tickets bought for guests to be refunded if cancelled you need to have a good look at your customer service policy

We do clearly state in the terms and conditions that tickets are not refundable, so all customers are aware of this prior to booking a ticket, and can make an informed choice before making a purchase.

It is standard with all conventions and comic con similar to ours for tickets to be sold on a non refundable basis.

Also, your e-mail was received only a few hours ago, hence why you have so far only received and auto response, as you have not given us time for a proper reply.

We do also advertise that all confirmed guests may cancel if they have an acting job that clashes with the event, but so far there have been no guest cancelations for the event you booked tickets for.

I notice that you gave a 5 star review to another comic con, one that has in it's terms and conditions: Ticket purchases are non-refundable or exchangeable. We cannot offer a refund unless the event is cancelled.

Poorly run show. Didn't inform customers of all changes. Result we was not able to collect all autograph that come with our expensive ticket. Aftercare, dismissive and results to pressure tactics.

No refund for cancelled event

No refund for cancelled event. Despite several emails and tweets to the convention organiser, I have still not received a £260 refund for 2 regular tickets for the Ultimates:Amalgam convention. Attendees were promised a second email giving the option of refund or transfer of tickets to another event, but this email did not arrive. What makes this worse is the fact that the organiser was very good with communication during the pandemic. As a regular customer of this organiser I am very disappointed with the lack of response and just want my money back.

Great experience. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was run, it's value for money and it's more personal touch compared to other cons.

STILL NO REFUND !!!!!!

Event cancelled 4 months ago but still haven't received a refund for my ticket. Not replying to messages or emails. The event was originally supposed to be last year but was postponed. I paid for my ticket in 2023 and just want my money back. Absolute joke.

Lack of Communication, still no refund

Until this year, I would have given Starfury a full five stars. Until this year, I’ve never had an issue with the company, the conventions, the guests, the staff or the attendee’s. I trusted them. This year however that trust has been breached.

On the 28th of August 2023 I treated myself to a Gold ticket to Starfurys Ultimates Amalgam. No guests announced but they usually get some fun ones and I trusted them not to fail us this time.

In 2024, Sean announced that, due to another convention company running a convention the same weekend, the guests weren’t available and it was being postponed to 2025. We could refund or postpone. I opted to postpone.

A few weeks before the event (April 11th-13th) in 2025, March 19th, it was cancelled. An announcement was put on the facebook page, and X and an email sent out, saying we could swap our tickets to another event or get a refund. An email would be sent in a few days to tell us how to do this. Fine. But this was where the problems started. I never received an email. I emailed Starfury as advised on the website. No answer. I emailed two weeks later as I received no reply. In all I have emailed 4 times and emailed Sean as well, each garnering no response. Polite emails just requesting a refund or what to do to obtain one. Nothing. (Dates of all correspondence can be proven)

On 25th of June Sean put an update on the facebook page, saying sorry for the delay, he had a lot going on. Over two months after the event had been cancelled. This one stated the ‘remaining’ refunds would be processed at the beginning of July. It’s now the 17th of July. I still haven’t got a refund for my Gold ticket. I could really do with the money because it was over £200 and taking 4 months to refund the face price of a ticket from a cancelled event is not good enough. It’s really not. It looks bad. It saddens me to say I’m not sure* I trust Starfury with my money again after so many years of enjoying these events.

July 23rd - Still no communication or refund.
July 26th - Still no communication or refund.
July 31st - Still no communication or refund.
August 9th - Still no communication or refund.
August 13th - Still waiting for any kind of communication, No refund in sight.
August 20th - Still nothing. Won’t answer emails or comment online and is removing people’s fb posts about it.

*should read I will never trust.

Utterly disgraceful customer service.
