very bad service

We went to the Temple and Grace store in Hawthorn Melbourne and our wedding band consultation was a bad experience...my partner wasn't really given the opportunity to try out different styles. The consultant was more interested in telling us their rings were good quality, instead of helping us find a design that suited us. We got some attitude like "oh you want to try that one now...but you said you wanted this other style and I have got the product code already". Our consultation lasted around half an hour only for both rings and we got as much information from their website. We ended up feeling rushed and unheard. We went to other places and had an amazing experience - staff spoke about designs with us and gave us freedom to try on different styles which should be the general experience when you're spending this much money and for something that should be memorable and meaningful.

I purchased an engagement ring from Temple & Grace which required multiple repairs within less than six months of ownership (a loose centre stone, halo alignment issues, hidden halo diamond problems, and visible band wear). An independent jeweller deemed it unsafe to wear due to the risk of losing the centre stone.

When I requested repair documentation and a metal composition report, Temple & Grace failed to provide compliant documentation. An independent jeweller also raised questions about the platinum composition of the band, and the hallmark was not visible on inspection. These concerns were never adequately addressed or explained in my opinion.

The centre stone diamond also chipped during the period of ownership, which added to my concerns about the overall quality and workmanship of the ring.

I received minimal communication despite repeated follow-ups via email and phone, and ultimately had to take the matter to the Magistrates Court in Perth to obtain my refund. They did not resolve this willingly.

I understand issues arise with any jeweller, but in my opinion, the lack of transparency around materials, the failure to provide documentation, and the need for legal action to get a basic refund is not acceptable for a business selling high-value jewellery. I strongly suggest that you do your research before you consider this jeweller.

Do not use this company for custom designs. They do not document conversations or agreements, they make changes to designs without telling you and proceed with work without agreement. They do not respond to concerns or emails. Due to them failing to respond for weeks, I have had to lodge a complaint with Consumer Affairs due to them failing to meet several of their ACCC obligations and after many months of frustrations I am still without my precious rings as per the design that was agreed and paid for.

We have used Eli at your edgecliff showroom for all our family. He upgraded my engagement & wedding rings, he helped my daughter & her husband select a ruby ring & an eternity ring & he is currently helping my son choose an engagement ring for his partner.
We have found that Eli is genuinely helpful & knowledgeable & we really trust his advice in deciding what diamonds & rings to purchase.
