Horrible time line and bad customer service
Disappointing Experience with The Personal – A Costly Waste of Time
As an APEGA member, I initially trusted The Personal as a partner insurance provider and decided to proceed with them for my new car insurance. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be extremely frustrating and ultimately a complete waste of time.
I received a quote promptly and was asked to submit a formal application, with the understanding that it would take up to 10 business days for review. Since my vehicle delivery timeline allowed for this, I submitted everything ahead of time and expected a smooth process.
After 8 business days with no update, I called in—only to wait a long time on hold and be told to call back in a couple more days. The representative could not provide any information, stating that underwriting was reviewing my case.
When I followed up again the next week, I was told that my application had not even been received. I was then given a different email address and asked to resubmit everything—and wait another 10 business days.
After waiting yet again, I called back, only to be told my application was incomplete because they required four photos of the vehicle. This was despite the fact that the application clearly stated the car was brand new and had not yet been delivered.
At every step, the customer service experience felt rigid and indifferent. There was no effort to help, no flexibility, and no sense of urgency—even though the delays were entirely on their side. It felt more like dealing with a strict bureaucracy than a customer-focused insurance provider.
In the end, I decided to give up. I had lost confidence that the process would ever move forward without another unexpected obstacle.
My advice: avoid The Personal.
Other insurance companies can process applications within days. There’s no reason to go through weeks of delays, poor communication, and unnecessary frustration.
