I would strongly advise anyone…
I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a car from Woods of Wirral to think very carefully before doing so.
I purchased a BMW 420i M Sport Convertible from them for £11,989. Within days, the car was overheating, losing coolant and displaying an “Engine temperature – drive moderately” warning.
I reported the issue immediately and gave Woods of Wirral the opportunity to investigate and repair it. I was told the problem was an air lock, the cooling system had been bled and the vehicle had been road-tested.
Within around 10 minutes of collecting the car, the exact same warning returned.
I stopped at the services and repeatedly tried to contact the dealership. Messages were read but I received no response, and I then had to drive nearly two hours home while the warning kept appearing. That was completely unacceptable given the seriousness of the fault.
The car was later sent to a BMW specialist, where I was told it had suffered a head-gasket failure. After further investigation, I was then informed that the vehicle actually required a replacement engine.
The communication throughout the whole process was extremely poor. I constantly had to chase for updates, emails were ignored, promised calls did not happen, and even after a full refund had been agreed I still had to repeatedly chase just to find out when my £11,989 would be returned.
I fully understand that faults can occur with used cars. What is not acceptable is how those faults are handled. In my experience, the communication, urgency and overall customer service were nowhere near the standard I would expect from a professional dealership.
After around six weeks of problems, very limited use of the vehicle and ultimately being told that the car needed a replacement engine, I had completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the way the situation had been handled.
Based on my experience, I would not buy another car from Woods of Wirral and I would not recommend them to anyone.
