Terrible experience and zero support from yhangry

Zero support from yhangry. AI answers the phone and all you can do is leave a message and no response to email.

Chef Ryan from New Hampshire called 4 hours prior to the event advising he had not ordered the food and we would need to change the menu. The menu had been planned based on dietary restrictions and favorites of the guest of honor. Additionally he was 2 and a half hours away even though he was scheduled to arrive in the next 30 minutes and was unable to find someone to be his help so we would need to push the start time as he couldn't get whatever he was going to cook ready in time AND that he hadn't shopped and did not have the money to shop so I would need to intacart what he needed and pay out of pocket for it. I had already paid over $2000 to yhangry. When advised we could not push the start time of the event and needed the food at the scheduled time due to the majority of the attendees being elder and diabetics we got a bunch of excuses. Ultimately myself and a guest ended up frantically cooking a dinner ourselves and being unable to participate in the event.

I just know getting a refund is going to be difficult.

Palm Springs Chef Never Showed

I am writing this review to save anyone else the massive headache and disappointment our group experienced. We hired Dwayne for a highly anticipated spring break dinner in Palm Springs, looking forward to a special "splurge" night with our family and friends.
Instead of a gourmet meal, we were met with a complete no-call, no-show.
We spent the evening waiting, calling, and texting, only to be met with total silence. There was no heads-up, no apology, and zero professional courtesy. It didn't just ruin our dinner plans; it forced us to scramble for a last-minute solution for a large group during a peak holiday week—which, as anyone knows, is nearly impossible in Palm Springs.
Hiring a private chef is about the experience and the peace of mind. Dwayne provided neither. He proved to be completely unreliable and unprofessional. If you are planning a special event, do not risk it with him. Look elsewhere for someone who actually values their clients and their craft.

We booked a private chef for my Daughter's Bachelorette

We booked a private chef for my daughters' bachelorette - 18 people - AND THE CHEF DID NOT SHOW UP. We had thought we found a great chef - specialized in sushi - worked the the menu actively with us - every detail including alternatives for food allergies-- we had multiple confirmations through text and email. We also were charged in full at the time of booking !!! And the chef never showed up and did not respond to our messages trying to reach them. We reached out to Yhangry - no response to email or calls until the next day. Yhangry agreed to refund our money (even though it will take 5-10 days to get it) - but you absolutely ruined a very special event. I would NEVER use this platform again - too unreliable.

Useless platform for chefs

I joined yhangry as a chef when it opened in the USA several months ago. On the introductory zoom, they were tooting their own horn as to how successful and competent they were and that we'd be getting bookings left, right and center. I spent countless hours preparing menus and answering quote requests (whenever I was able to). I didn't get a single booking and for the past month I've been getting scam after scam on the platform. Eventhough I reported it right away nothing has been done.
Lastly, in their business model, only the first 5 chefs to respond can send a menu proposal, which is not too bad in itself, but I keep getting request quote emails in the middle of the night, so by the time I get up, most jobs are already full. I also pointed out to them that eventhough they're a British company they should really operate on American time to give everyone a fair chance.
I've now deactivated my account with them.

Chef Kaya a disaster- were we scammed?

We booked “chef” Kaya for my sons wedding breakfast. She was a complete disaster, and the food appalling!!!
She was 35 minutes late causing real stress. She didn’t apologise and presented us with a variety of food in tin foil trays (most looked bought) placed them in the kitchen and walked out. The food was squashed as it had been stacked in a small bag. There was zero presentation and certainly no cheffing!! Steer clear of this service. We would have done better with Deliveroo!! We paid £400 for a few pastries, boiled eggs , tomatoes and avocado. which would have cost less than £50. To be honest we felt we had been scammed and are still not sure we weren’t.

The no1 chef platform

As a new chef on yhangry I was welcomed to the app with training on how I can get bookings and stand out. Since September I have over 40 bookings thanks to yhangry. The app/business is very well constructed and organised for fellow chefs who have the passion to cook for guests and create the best experience possible.

Do not use this company

If I could give them zero stars I would. I booked a chef for my birthday and on the day the chef was suddenly unreachable. I called multiple times and called the yhangry helpline and they couldn’t reach him and were giving various excuses. I understand he was a fake chef posing as a chef and ruined my birthday event. I do not recommend using them as they clearly don’t research their chef’s properly.

I couldn't have made a better decision-All the food was outstanding,everyone loved it and the ambience was so much better than in any restaurant I've ever been.

Both myself and my family were delighted by the quality of food provided and the professional way it was cooked and presented. The Chef was friendly, helpful and informative, the evening was a great success and completely problem-free.

We were all really impressed with our chef for the evening, it was the icing on the cake to a fabulous weekend. Great communication with the team and chef before the event paid off, everything ran seamlessly and the service was exceptional! The meat and fish were superb and the sort of thing you find in the very best restaurants and the presentation had us all taking photos all night. Would recommend, absolutely.

WARNING!

We recently had Chef Samuel R (from Malmsbury) to cook for us. It was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. What a disaster!
My husband initially gave a good review on their website as on the face of it things "appeared" to have gone ok.
That was until I inspected my oven a couple of days later!!!!
My beautiful Brushed Steel Rangemaster oven (that I had lovingly polished and cherrished for more than 23 years) had been destroyed by Samuel R by using a scourer to the entire oven top during cleaning!
Can you believe a professional chef didn't know how to clean brushed steel and would treat your possessions in such a disrespectful manner (and then lie about it)! No, neither did we!
Yhangry dissapontingly decided to take the word of a Chef over their customer!
Chef Samuel R continually lied and deny any knowledge of what he had done. He even sent an unwarranted derogatory response to the situation which Yhangry quite rightly chastised him for.
Yhangry were quite frankly worse than useless in trying to help resolve this issue and point blank refused to use their insurance as they needed undeniable proof that the chef had caused the damage! How?
MY ADVICE: To anyone thinking of using Yhangry is to make sure that you take photographs of all of your kitchen equipment before the chef arrives. You then need to take a video of your chef while they are cooking and cleaning so that you don't find yourselves in the uneviable situation that we now find ourselves in!
If you do not take photgraphic evidence, you won't have a leg to stand on should your chef damage any of your property.
Yhangry's 24 hour notice policy still would not have made a difference if your chef decides to lie as Samuel R did!
Yhangry didn't even have the decency to repsond to our last email either.
Very poor customer service.
We are now having to spent a fortune tyring to find a specialist who can try to rectify the damage that one of Yhangry's chef's have caused!
PLEASE take this as a warning and use a different company for your special event (if you do not want to be left angry and you value your home and property)!
We are at present taking legal advice.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re genuinely sorry this has caused you so much frustration, but a few important details do need to be clarified.

The damage was reported to us a week after the event, not within a couple of days as mentioned. During this time, a 5-star review for the chef was posted the following day, which normally suggests everything went well and also gives time for any obvious issues to be noticed.

The chef in question has over 20 years of experience working with similar equipment, but we still took your report seriously and raised the matter with both him and our insurance team. Even though our policy asks for issues to be reported within 24 hours, we still pushed ahead on your behalf.

This also created challenges on our side, as the chef felt his professional reputation was being questioned without evidence, and the insurer maintained there were no grounds for a claim for visible damage reported after such a delay. Despite this, we took the matter as far as we responsibly could.

Because of the delay and the lack of clear, attributable evidence, the claim could not proceed. The determining factors were the delay and the lack of any conclusive link to the event, not a lack of willingness on our side. This is standard across all insurers and not unique to our platform.

We stayed in touch throughout and explained the final position. When you let us know you wouldn’t be using our services again, we were genuinely disappointed, as we really tried our best to help you.

Warning to chefs, don't waste your time with this platform. They keep sending fake requests to the chefs. A company that promises a lot and is an absolute disaster.
