15% off "almost everything"
Having had an item in mind, I asked staff earlier in the week about discounts on the day of the "event", and was told that they weren't aware of anything extra to normal! I then had a leaflet through the post stating that there was 15% off "almost everything" I duly went to the store this morning (event day) and chose the item I wanted, went to a member of staff and enquired if the discount was applicable to the item I was holding, and was told "Yes, it's off everything" I went to pay, to be blithely to,d, "there's no extra off this as it's already a sale item. I still purchased as I wanted the item ( a Rab gilet at just under £90). However, I could have gone at any time to do that rather than arrange things so I could go there on a specific day. To say I am disappointed is putting it mildly. The staff/management communication seems as dire as it is in many organisations. I would point out that the staff on the shop floor are only doing what is asked of them, and are always polite. It all leaves a rather bitter aftertaste as far as customer service is concerned, and when your customer is left disappointed as they leave your store, they think twice before coming back, and also relate the disappointment to others.
UPDATE: Having spoken to the store, they have offered to refund the 15%, so much better final outcome.
