Exceptional Driving Instructor - Nicey
I completed my 5 Day intensive driving course between 17th-21st November 2025 and had a great experience. My driving instructor was Nicey, and she is really brilliant at what she does. I had an intensive driving instructor a number of years ago working for a different company whose approach didn't work well for me, ending up with me dropping driving, wasting the money I had spent and pausing learning to drive for 8 years up to now. Nicey was the perfect instructor for me to pick driving back up again - calm, patient, adaptable in approach and most importantly authentically herself. Nicey's approach to teaching oozes experience and care, I had every faith in her ability to prepare me to pass. Within 53 days from my first lesson with Nicey, I passed my driving test first time with only 3 minors. Thank you!

5 Stars for Stephanie and 5day!
I chose to do a course with 5day since I needed to quickly learn to drive in the UK with a test booked and coming soon. Whilst initially I did not have a good experience with my first instructor, 5day were very understanding and immediately changed instructor without judgement or question. I am so greatful for this because I know that I passed my test easily due to the great work and attitude of my new instructor Stephanie. Stephanie was professional, prepared and made sure every aspect of learning to drive was covered, whilst also ensuring I was appropriately confident and ready to do my test. Not only was Stephanie’s training to a high standard, but I also really enjoyed my time in the car with her. Thank you so much 5day and Stephanie for getting me through and helping me pass my test!

Did my 5 Day with James from Peterborough and he took me from driving around in a cinema to driving on dual carriageways by the Friday. Chelmsford 5 day
I took my course in Chelmsford with my instructor John, amazing very knowledgeable bloke who helped a lot with learning what they would be looking for in the driving test and ensure if my learning would make me as ready as possible for when that comes.
My theory was done with Chris and he done an amazing job in helping make sure the theory lessons was very captivating and ensuring that everything you would need to know was covered and also a load of good laughs during the lessons aswell.
Passed my theory with 50/50 and 67/75 so well happy with my results
100% would reccomend them both, great blokes!!

Section 75 Claim Success
EDIT: With regard to the response from 5DAY.
5DAY specifically told me that they were unable to discuss my case with me on the telephone because "they don't have the ability to make outgoing phonecalls". I believe this evidence helped confirm the Section 75 claim was warranted. This is why I am holding to my assertion that 5DAY shut down communication regarding the matter.
The basis of my claim was the overly long period between my intensive lessons and test provision.
I suggest other customers are not discouraged from taking similar action

This is a follow up to my experience in 2022.
I booked and attended a 5DAY course in 2022, but wasn't offered a test for months and months, long after my learning experience had stopped being effective.
I was told by 5DAY that they wouldn't be able to do anything to remedy and they effectively tried to shut down any communication regarding the matter.
As I paid by credit card, I have just been able to make a successful Section 75 claim to obtain a partial refund.
I suggest that customers who have experienced a similar level of service consider a Section 75 claim. It doesn't take long.

While we acknowledge your frustration, it is important to clarify the facts surrounding your booking for the benefit of future customers.
At the time of your course in 2022, the DVSA was experiencing a severe national backlog, which significantly restricted practical test availability across the UK. Prior to and during your course, we repeatedly and clearly advised that your theory test was approaching expiry and that you must re-sit it to remain eligible for a practical test when one became available. This advice was explicitly declined.
When a practical test was eventually sourced, we contacted you only to find that your theory test had expired and had still not been re-sat. Under DVSA regulations, a practical test cannot proceed without a valid theory test certificate and this is entirely outside of our control.
We did not “shut down” communication; rather, we explained the situation and the limitations imposed by the DVSA once it became clear that no test could legally be taken. As such, there was no service failure on our part, but a regulatory restriction combined with the refusal to act on clear advisories provided at the time.
While you are entitled to pursue a Section 75 claim through your card provider, we do not accept that this outcome reflects the level of service delivered or the circumstances that prevented a test from taking place.
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation publicly.

My Experience with Theory.
I recently just passed my theory test. I had completed it twice after failing for the first time and managing to pass it the second time. My theory instructor was Phil who was amazing and made sure I knew everything I needed to know for the test. Unfortunately I don’t test very well and failed the first time by one mark. I had told Phil this and he made sure I had all the extra support and even let me join in on more lessons which helped me pass for the second time. This has been a great course and my practical is next. I wouldn’t have been able to pass my theory without Phil and for this I am very thankful.

I done a course with 5day in chelmsford…
I done a course with 5day in chelmsford had alfie as my instructor. Was a great course. The only downside is are the tests, i’ve manage to book one my self BUT 5 day said they will refund me the money. let’s see if this is true! i’m more worried about the waiting time for a test and making sure you remember everything! because not everyone is lucky enough to have a car to practice in outside of the course!

Perfect methods of teaching
Absolutely phenomenal methods of teaching i had 0 experience on day one by day 4 (3-4hrs a day) i was feeling way more comfortable on the road and my understanding of the road comteols of the vehicle all improved dramatically over the space of 4 days i would recommend 5day to anyone new or experienced!
I recommended anyone to take lessons on with shabana she has available lessons privately aswell as working alongside 5day most indepth teacher ive met, very helpful and makes the learning experience comfortable and enjoyable no tension or anxiety at all learning with her

I done a course with 5 day my driving instructor was Rob from Bristol & I passed first time. Highly recommend being with Rob very friendly & always down for a good laugh. But shame about the office about having to chase up about your test & then getting lied to every time about what number you are in the queue. Very disappointing in 5 days office staff they lie all the time.

I booked a 5-day course in August 2024 and after waiting for 15 months, I was finally given a test date for MAY 2026... Yes, I know the DVSA has long waiting times (around 11 months), but this company completely misled me. They bragged about having a “dedicated team” who would find me an earlier test within 10 weeks when I initially booked — which was clearly CON to take my money.
How on earth do they expect anyone to do a 5-day course and then somehow keep it all fresh for 21 months before a test? It’s ridiculous. They clearly don’t care about their customers at all — just about getting paid. My course reference number is - SD-Y19P7, incase you claim this review is fake!

I left a review on behalf of my sister, who is a student and has been extremely frustrated with the poor service you’ve provided. Throughout all our communications, we have never been disrespectful or inappropriate. We have proof of every phone conversation and copies of all correspondence. Nothing we’ve said is incorrect or exaggerated. We have simply been conned by 5day, just like many others. If you’re considering booking a course with them, look elsewhere, they will mislead you and lie to you once they have your money.
When you call their sales team, they say the same mis leading, scripted nonsense: “If we get you a test within 10 weeks, we consider that as a good result.” When in fact you’re left waiting closer to 84 weeks. They say this to rope you in, sell you a course then forget about you.
We’ll see you in court.
I recommend reading the GENUINE Google reviews for the 5day location you’re considering before booking.

The information provided does not correspond with the customer who actually attended the course and the claims made here do not reflect the experience of our genuine learners.
We have a dedicated test-booking team, and they work continuously to secure earlier dates for all customers. The only reason for extended delays is the national DVSA backlog, which affects every training provider and is entirely outside our control. Despite this, our team has made repeated efforts to assist, and it is misleading to imply otherwise.
The assertion that we “don’t care” is simply incorrect. We support our customers throughout their training and test-booking process, and we stand by the professionalism of our staff.
It is also important to note that our company has received repeated communications from this individual that have been inappropriate and hostile in tone.
We will always protect our staff from behaviour of that nature, and attempts to publicly damage our reputation through inaccurate or exaggerated statements will not change the facts.

Wondering to book on?
I have just passed my driving test with 5 day.
I do think there is a place for this service. If you are looking to get started with your driving and are wondering whether this is worth it or not, I would say it is.
The instructors are great (I had James Chambers from Peterborough) and you definitely hone your driving skills much faster by being behind the wheel every day for a week as well as getting the theory side of driving covered as well.
On the other hand, if you are a relatively experienced learner driver, I think it would be hard to justify the cost of the course compared to picking up a couple of hour or two lessons with a standard instructor or purchasing a temporary car insurance online and driving a friend/ relatives car.
I think a lot of the selling point of this course is around getting a faster driving test which unfortunately didn’t happen for me however after months of waiting I was able to find my own test date relatively quickly after getting on a couple of cancellation apps.
At the time I took this course it cost around £1400. That’s obviously pretty steep, so like I said, if you’re a new driver looking to pass quickly, this is when I would recommend. If you do go for the course then definitely use the cancellation apps. It will cost you a bit extra but you will get refunded for the test from 5day. I used testi to find my cancellation.
