Do not waste your money – very poor experience…
I spent £1,308.00 on the 5Day course, and right from the start I was disappointed. On the first day, the instructor running the theory class turned up late and had an unprofessional attitude. When I pointed out that he should arrive before paying customers, his response was, “I get paid by 5Day, not you.” Very rude.
My practical lessons with Mark initially went well, and I did pass my theory. At the end of the course, Mark said I’d only need 2–3 extra lessons to improve on roundabouts. I booked my own private instructor, who then told me that 5Day had rushed my training and advised me never to use them again, as they “just take your money.”
Part of the package includes a free refresher/assessment lesson with your 5Day instructor. I requested mine with Mark, but he ignored my messages for days (he was on holiday, but hadn’t replied even before then). When I phoned 5Day for help, the response was, “Well, he’s entitled to a holiday – we can’t force him to reply.”
When Mark eventually got back to me, the date and time he offered clashed with my work. After I asked for alternatives, I was ignored again – messages left on read with no response. I had to pay another private instructor for what should have been a free lesson. Later, Mark even suggested I could book another lesson, but only if I paid – making it clear he wasn’t interested in helping unless money was involved.
I also asked 5Day if I could switch instructors, but was told Mark was the only automatic instructor “local” to Chelmsford – which is not at all local to Felixstowe.
The reality is this: you’ll likely end up paying extra for private lessons anyway, as the 5Day instructors seem rushed, unmotivated, and uninterested in doing anything beyond what directly earns them money. I have call logs and message proof of all this, so this is not a fake review – 5Day can verify my repeated attempts to get support.
In short: don’t waste your money. The service is poor, the instructors unprofessional, and you’ll end up paying twice for lessons.

We are somewhat perplexed as to why this review has been submitted Jada.
According to our records, you successfully completed your 5Day course and passed your driving test on your very first attempt in December 2024 – almost a year ago.
Given this outcome, it is difficult to reconcile the comments made here with the fact that the programme clearly achieved its intended result.
While we accept that no training provider is entirely beyond critique, the purpose of the course is to prepare pupils to pass their driving test and in your case this was achieved successfully and without delay.
Furthermore, we note that this review has been left many months after your course and successful test pass, which does raise questions over the accuracy and relevance of the timeline described.
If there are any specific matters you still wish to raise with us formally, we would encourage you to contact our office directly so they can be addressed in the appropriate manner.

I had a 5day course in Sidcup
I had a 5day course in Sidcup. The course was great and I enjoyed it, my instructor was good. But 5 day people on the phone are rude! Personally I would find yourself a test, possibly booking this before you do the course! I waited 11 months for them to find me a test! And after 9 months they then decided to tell me that I could have found one myself, which if I knew I would have done it months before my first test! I failed first time because I had waited so long. And after that I then found a second test quicker myself! They told me after the course it wouldn’t take long, 12 weeks longest, well complete lie! Was on the list for way too long than expected. They should have informed me about finding a test myself to start with. They wasn’t helpful, very rude on the phone and didn’t really care either. It’s great to spend all that money on the course, but to carry on spending more a year or more later is not what I expected. Personally I would have just done lessons every week if I known they'd taken that long to get me a test. So my advice is find a test yourself before taking the course, don’t bother with them to find a test! Bad customer service.

We are, however, sorry to read of your disappointment with the test booking process.
Unfortunately, driving test availability is entirely controlled by the DVSA and over the past five years, since the Covid-19 pandemic, the nationwide backlog has caused significant delays well beyond the 12-week guideline that normally applies. While our booking team does their best to secure earlier cancellations, these delays are not something we can directly control.
We always advise pupils that they are welcome to search for earlier test slots themselves alongside our efforts and we are sorry if this was not made clear to you at the outset.
Your comments will be reviewed internally so we can ensure that future communication is as clear and supportive as possible.
We’re glad you found a test date that suited you and wish you every success with your continued driving journey.

Norwich 5day
I completed the Norwich 5 day and was very fortunate to have Leon as my instructor. His patience and calm guidance helped me to gain confidence and although I was not test ready by the end of the week, being a fairly anxious beginner, Leon has helped me to feel reassured that the end is in sight and I will still be able to pass quicker than I would have done without the intensive course. I would recommend the 5day course but be prepared to plan for extra lessons after the five days. I was very lucky to have such a supportive instructor!

I used 5 day Norwich
I used 5 day Norwich. My instructor was called Roy who 5 day should be very proud to have as one of their instructors. Throughout my process Roy showed me nothing but professionalism, he pushed me to achieve the best of my ability whilst always making me feel calm and so comfortable. His techniques to help make driving feel easier for me were just amazing. I’m so grateful I have now passed my test with only 1 minor due to his talented skills in driving and teaching.
I’ll never forget all the laughs and wonderful convos we had together.
Thank you 5 day, but most importantly thank you to my amazing instructor Roy, I’ll never forget you!

My instructor was rude and vague
My instructor was rude and vague, luckily I had some prior experience, but he would talk over me about any and everything and would contradict my actions and then tell me I did it wrong. This had affected my confidence and my ability to make my own judgement. For the easiest example I remember he would say turn right and mean left.
The course could have been a turning stone for me but he ruined it. The pamphlet provided helped me research on my own and gain more insight on the manoeuvres but I felt anxious going and getting into the car with him.

5day Intensive course with James Chambers from Peterborough
I found the intensive course to be much better than individual lessons. 5day provide helpful and engaging teachers for both the theory and practical driving elements. The practical side of things was especially helpful, and I feel as if I developed skills much faster thanks to good teaching and being given the time to improve, with the ability to build on skills day after day instead of waiting days between lessons. All in all, the experience was great and has dramatically improved my driving.

5day Sidcup
I did my lessons in April and passed my test in early July using 5day after hearing about them from my brother - who also passed using 5day. We were both taught by Graham who helped us to pass first time - both of us with near-perfect scores. 5day were great with both lessons and theory tests. Graham was incredibly patient and always happy to explain the same thing in every lesson until I understood it, and had really easy and fun ways of remembering things. From never driving before 5day, Graham instilled confidence quickly and had me driving happily on the second day, after a great introduction to the car and driving itself - I am very happy to have had him as a instructor at Sidcup 5day.
The days have a perfect amount of driving in them and the theory lessons on zoom in the evening were perfectly detailed and helped me pass the theory test with only the week included in 5day - never having practiced questions before, a testament to the course. The theory test was booked on the Friday afternoon of the 5day week, and was a great intensive course. The days would typically run from 10am-18:30pm including driving, theory and some breaks and is definitely worth the time and money.
I had to book a test privately and felt the company and website overpromised on the speed at which they could get a test (My brother got his within 7 weeks when he learned a year ago but mine would have been months) yet their website and advertising does not reflect this change, the backlog, and demand for tests - however this was the only bad thing about the course - if you don't mind spending a tad more on a test/cancellation or waiting a couple of months for a test then 5day is great - however this will get better overtime and is ultimately not 5days fault!
5day 4/5, Graham instructor 5/5 overall!

Done the course in Bristol as a complete newcomer to driving. Rob was excellent throughout and taught me everything I needed to know. He ensured I could drive safely and correctly, fixed any frequent mistakes I made and made sure I was ready for the exam, which I passed first time. I cannot recommend 5 day, and Rob, enough!

I passed my test after doing the 5day course and had Alan as my instructor. He was calm, clear, and really focused on helping me improve with every lesson. He explained things in a way that made sense and gave useful feedback without ever making it stressful. I felt well prepared by the time the test came around. Would definitely recommend him to anyone learning in Manchester.
