Complete bad faith

I purchased a $649.00 home warranty policy with American Residential Warranty (ARW) and requested a cancellation via email. Instead of executing this simple request, ARW uses intentionally obstructive internal policies designed to trap you. They forced me onto a recorded phone line, subjected me to endless holds and transfers, unprofessionally refused to provide a cancellation confirmation number, and completely ignored all my follow-up emails.
They heavily market a "30-day money-back guarantee," but it is a complete farce. After I filed a formal BBB complaint, ARW went on the record and promised in writing that my full refund would be credited back to my account by July 3, 2026. Today is past that deadline, and the funds are still completely missing. They broke their own contractual commitment and are wrongfully holding my money hostage.
As a professional working closely with local builders and the real estate industry, I will be explicitly warning my entire network, contacts, and clients to stay far away from ARW. Their cancellation process is a deliberate gauntlet meant to wear consumers down. Unethical, untrustworthy, and completely unreliable. Downright dirty despicable lowlife scumbags!

Martha was great
Martha was great. She is the reason I didn't cancel. The sales gentleman before her was very pushy and cocky. I asked him to slow down on being pushy and his response got me to ask for the cancellation department.

Awful company
I have been paying this company for a while, and this is the first time I ever had to call them for a repair. our HVAC stop working in the beginning of May 2026. They kept scheduling for a technician, but they would always cancel, saying that they don't have someone that can come to Fredericksburg VA. the company then gave us the option to get a local company to come give us a diagnostic, which they did and have sent their finding and recommendations. Now ARW keeps sending back messages for more details. ARW is doing a play with words game. Now the local HVAC company has dropped our claim and stated "this is why they don't work with warranty companies" I don't know how much more detail they can get; the system is old and there are multiple leaks. but ARW continues to give us the run around. next week it's going to be 100 degrees, and we have a pet dog. this is beyond poor service, and they continue to auto withdraw their monthly fee. We still have a non-working HVAC. we are extremely frustrated. at this point if I could give a -0 stars, I would.

Based on the information described, it appears additional documentation may still be required before a reimbursement request can be fully evaluated. The required information and submission instructions are provided in the email sent when the claim is initiated. Reviewing that correspondence and submitting the requested documentation is the most effective way to allow the claim review process to move forward.
American Residential Warranty evaluates each reimbursement request based on the documentation submitted and the applicable terms and conditions of the Service Agreement.

My son and I have asthma
My son and I have asthma, it is currently 94 degrees outside and 93 degrees inside my house. I have paid for 2 nights in a hotel, 2 emergency room visits, $125.00 to start the claim yesterday morning, and 70.00 monthly fee. This is ridiculous
Emergency Services don’t cost the client and their families their breathing. I would never recommend anyone to this company

I was going to cancel my service with ARW . Due to refund that would take 14 to 21 days . But I talk to Ms.Martha and she had great advice and great customer service. She gave me information that I should have gotten when I was told that my refrigerator had to be replaced. She informed me about GE to get a discount. Ms. Martha was great and patient.
