Absolutely horrendous experience with Bridgend Ford – Would not recommend
I have recently purchased a vehicle from Bridgend Ford, and I can honestly say the customer service I have received has been absolutely awful.
I was told that attempts had been made to contact me, but when I questioned this, I was informed that they did not have my full telephone number and had the wrong email address. This clearly raises serious questions about how they could have contacted me in the first place.
To make matters worse, I have not been provided with a proper explanation of what was wrong with my vehicle. The lack of communication, transparency and basic customer care has been extremely disappointing, especially when purchasing a vehicle from a registered Ford dealership.
On top of all this, my vehicle was used by the dealership and returned to me without being refuelled, leaving me with just 12 miles of fuel remaining in the tank. I find this completely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional.
When spending a significant amount of money on a vehicle, you expect a reasonable standard of service, honest communication and to be treated with respect. Unfortunately, my experience with Bridgend Ford has fallen well below those expectations.
I would never recommend buying a vehicle from this dealership based on my experience. The customer service has been horrendous from start to finish, and the way this situation has been handled has left me extremely dissatisfied.
I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from Bridgend Ford to think carefully about the level of after-sales service they may receive. Absolutely shocking experience.
My wife bought a 2016 Skoda Fabia from this dealership on 2 December 2024 for just over £8,000. We also purchased a 2-year MOT/service plan and 3-year extended warranty, costing over £1,000 extra.
The salesperson who sold us the car was excellent. Unfortunately, our experience with the dealership since then has been very different.
The car had several issues shortly after purchase which we were told would be rectified. We then had to return the car for the repairs, which were subsequently delayed by another 1–2 weeks. We were given reasons relating to suppliers, although it appeared the wrong parts had initially been ordered. Eventually everything was resolved, but it wasn't a great start to ownership.
Our first MOT/service was also disappointing. Booking over the phone was fine, but when we arrived at the service department the customer service was extremely poor. The car was kept all day and nobody contacted us to say it was ready. We had to call ourselves after school hours, only to be told it was ready. We were also told the paperwork was in the car. It wasn't, so once again we had to chase them for it.
The extended warranty later became relevant when the clock spring failed. This meant the airbag system wasn't functioning correctly, yet we were told there could be a diagnostic charge and that it would only be covered if the repair was covered by the warranty. Despite having paid for an expensive warranty, this caused unnecessary stress.
When we collected the car, we were initially told we owed for the diagnostics. The member of staff dealing with us was quite confrontational and insisted we were wrong. We asked for the gentleman we had previously spoken to, who came over, confirmed what we had been told and instructed her to put the charge through under the warranty. The whole interaction was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.
We have now reached our second and final included MOT/service. Again, the telephone booking was fine. However, when dropping the car off we stood at the service desk for approximately 12 minutes before anybody acknowledged us, despite staff being nearby. This is not what I would expect from a professional main dealership.
The biggest concern came with the health check.
The technician's video specifically stated that the rear brake discs were in good condition and the rear pads were approximately halfway worn at 5mm.
Yet the written report recommended replacing both rear discs and pads at a cost of £408.55.
The report itself states:
"Rear brake discs in good condition, Rear pads on 5mm."
I fully accept that dealerships have higher parts and labour costs, but recommending over £400 of brake work when your own technician has stated that the discs are in good condition and the pads are only halfway worn is extremely difficult to understand.
I also accept the recommendation regarding the rear tyres. They are getting close to the legal limit and need replacing. The rear springs were also marked as an MOT advisory due to corrosion. However, after inspecting them myself, both had only a small area of surface corrosion which I was able to remove and treat. They remain structurally sound.
The car subsequently passed its MOT.
Once again, when collecting the car, we were told the paperwork was in the vehicle. Once again, it wasn't. The only paperwork provided was the MOT and health check. The service book had a sticker stating "Standard Service", but none of the individual service items had been completed. We therefore had to contact the dealership yet again and request the service invoice by email.
At this point, this doesn't feel like an isolated incident. It is a repeated pattern of poor communication, poor customer service, having to chase for information and paperwork, and recommendations that leave me questioning whether the work being suggested is actually necessary.
We spent over £8,000 with this dealership and over £1,000 additionally on their service and warranty products because we wanted the reassurance of using a main dealer.
Unfortunately, we have not received the level of service I would expect for that money.
For comparison, I use a Volkswagen dealership for my own car and the difference in customer service is genuinely night and day.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this dealership for after-sales service or maintenance.

I'M FUMING!!!! I paid £1700 YESTERDAY for repairs to my Van and today it won't even start! The AA came and couldn't start it, so it got towed in. No-one has made time to look at it and now I've been told that it might not get looked at tomorrow either, as they are closing early. I'VE BEEN AS CUSTOMER OF THEIRS FOR 30+++++ YEARS AND NOW I CAN'T WORK, AS THEY HAVE MY VAN AND WON'T FIX IT!!!! I've asked to speak to Gary, Sharon or Leon and been refused. I'M FUMING! I hope they all enjoy their Party, that they are having tomorrow, knowing that I'm unable to work for the next few days. I hope they're going to refund my £1700 and compensate me, for stopping me from working. FIONA CUTT F16NAA
Sales person very kind and polite, customer service very good, could not fault.
Love the car Luke was very nice to deal with and Tom gave me a great deal on my part exchange would highly recommend
Fantastic Service at Bridgend Ford. I had an amazing experience with Dean and Brendan. They were both friendly and knowledgeable and made purchasing my new car easy. Nothing was too much trouble. Each step of the process was explained clearly. I would recommend Bridgend Ford to anyone looking to buy a new car. Thank you so much! :)
Worst service I’ve ever received. Dropped car off at 8.30 am with an 12v battery warning that had been recurring for weeks and asked them to investigate and replace if need be. I returned at 5pm having received no phone call or information all day (the only car in our household). I’ve just got in the car and the same warning is on the dash. Not convinced they did anything at all. Just take it home and charge it they said. Like I hadn’t already tried that. Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!
I bought a used car from Bridgend Ford. The sale itself went smoothly, but the experience since then has been extremely frustrating. We paid an additional £2,000 for the extended warranty and have had ongoing difficulty getting any support. When we do manage to get through, we’re constantly passed from one person to another, left on hold for long periods, or sent to voicemail when no one is available—only to have to start the whole process again. The cycle has been exhausting and disappointing, especially after what started as a positive purchase experience.

What should have been an exciting milestone for myself, Husband and my son turned into an ongoing nightmare. From the very beginning, our experience with Bridgend Ford has been nothing short of disappointing, stressful, and financially damaging.
The Car We Reserved Was Sold to Someone Else,
The day before visiting, I viewed a car, went home to complete insurance checks, and then reserved it online. We arrived the next morning at the agreed time of 10am, only to be told it had been sold the previous evening. We were devastated and felt completely let down. Trying to move on, we looked around the forecourt and were shown a Ford Fiesta. Despite going over budget, we were reassured that it was a reliable vehicle. Looking back, this could not have been further from the truth.
Problems After Purchase Day 1 – 9 November Within five minutes of driving away, a tyre-pressure warning light appeared. We returned immediately and were told that the tyres just needed air. The warning later reappeared, and we were then told multiple sensors were faulty — and one was missing entirely. The car had to be left with them for repair. What should have been a happy day for my son became stressful and upsetting.
15–16 November – Engine Fault The engine management light illuminated while my son was driving. After being passed between departments on the phone, we were eventually told to bring the car back in. We were then informed it needed a new wet belt costing over £50 — something that should absolutely have been raised during the sales process. This meant more unpaid time off work, another long round trip, and more disruption, though we were reassured the repair would be completed to a “high standard.”
9 December – First Major Oil Leak The vehicle developed a significant oil leak that caused damage to our property and caused huge stress. We agreed to have the work completed at ford and were assured the repairs were completed to the highest standard.
19 January – Second Major Oil Leak - Another large leak occurred, further damaging our driveway and even the public footpath. The staff member I spoke to was extremely unhelpful and rude. I emailed but received no response. I was then sent multiple texts that an engineer would attend my home. I had to take unpaid time off work. The engineer then told me the car was not fit for purpose. A tow truck was arranged, again forcing me to miss more work. Again ford carried out the work to supposedly the highest standard.
10 February – Third Major Oil Leak — this time far from home. We had no choice but to use a nearby independent garage and incur more costs. At this point, the ongoing issues had become exhausting, upsetting, and financially damaging.
GDPR Concerns - On top of all the mechanical problems, we discovered years’ worth of the previous owner’s personal documents inside the vehicle:
• phone number
• home address
• bank information
This is a serious GDPR breach and raised huge concerns about how Bridgend Ford handles customer data — including ours.
This entire experience has caused us stress, inconvenience, financial loss, and a complete loss of confidence in the dealership — and in Ford vehicles in general. The level of customer care, communication, and vehicle quality we have received has been shocking.
The communication from their HR representative has also been extremely unprofessional. The tone of her emails was so patronising that I eventually stopped responding altogether. Not only were the replies dismissive, but they also arrived many days after my original emails of concern, adding even more frustration to an already stressful situation. On one occasion, I specifically asked to speak to her directly, but I was told she was “in a meeting.” Despite requesting a phone call, she still did not contact me and instead continued sending the same patronising emails. This behaviour made it very clear that genuine customer support, accountability, and timely communication are simply not priorities for Bridgend Ford
Bridgend Ford do not respond to emails when support is actually needed, yet they are quick to send patronising messages about “goodwill gestures” that feel more like attempts to cover themselves rather than truly resolve the issues. In my opinion, they are fully aware that there is a significant fault with this car and have known this from the moment it was sold. This belief is reinforced by them stating that the staff member responsible for carrying out crucial safety checks on this vehicle has since lost his job. While this is concerning— if anything, it raises even more questions about how this car ever passed inspection and why it was sold in the first place. I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before buying from Bridgend Ford.
Went too view a second hand car with my daughter sales team couldnt tell me if the car i was viewing fiat 500 has had a timming belt they just said if it needed doing it would of been done !!! So has it been done ??? I dont know then try selling her a warrantee which covers a timming belt absolute shambles from a big main dealer !!!! Car 8 years old 62000 miles belt very important
Rang up to enquire about a car. Asked for service history. Didn't call back as promised. Rubbish customer service.
A first class experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff, helped us with our choice of vehicle, no fuss test drive, fair part exchange, delivered perfectly!
Thank-you from Sharon & Me, and an extra thanks from Molly the dog😉
Absolutely amazing the staff was explaining everything to us so kind and caring 🙏 careing they was brilliant when I seen my new car in the show room omg fabulous thanks everyone for helping us to understand everything happy New Year to you all 🎉❤️
Popped in to pick up my new Ford Explorer. A very lovely lady named Harriet did our hand over.
Harriet went through everything, step by step and was not phased by the load of questions me and my partner had. We where nice and warm in the car, while Harriet was outside in the cold explaining the cars features. Thank you so much for making our day Harriet. You were amazing.
Not a main dealer at all , bought a Kuga from them and got delivered dirty ,the charging cables got delivered a week later after I complained to the managers (they ordered cables but somehow I got second hand cables that didn’t even get a wipe down) all the stuff the salesman said he’ll get sorted got forgotten and said that my expectections were to high . The car was really expensive with all the defects ( scratches all over , scratched windows , cracked bumper , hole in the leather seat and quite dirty . I even had to wipe the wipers because they were mouldy ) and Dean said it’s not fair on other customers to reduce the price but will get everything sorted but the hole in the seat and after 4 days of waiting for the car to be prepped it got delivered without even being touched . I had to pay for it to be machine polished , cleaned and the hole in the seat repaired and they gave me£30 towards it . Absolute joke of dealership and it’s a shame that Dean is meant to be a quite high up person and you think he would be much better but no , I would never ever buy a car from here again and I would not advise anybody to do so , GO to Motorpoint , DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS WE DID
How refreshing it was today to be dealing with the transit centre at Bridgend Ford. The service was first class, my one year old transit has for months been suffering from electrical problems, Days off Swansea tried 4 times total waste of time, 3 hours in Bridgend, problem solved , thanks again to all the people at Bridgend, I’ll be back when I need a great service 🎯👍
No pressure, no sales pitch.
I was given plenty of time to look over vehicles, allowed to take them off for a proper substantial test drive etc.
Nice friendly team.
Great experience. Bought a used Ford Focus last week and the whole process was great, the support from the staff made the whole buying process less daunting.
Tom has been great and very knowledgeable, from buying the car to then dropping it off a week later for the DiamondBrite work to be carried out. He kept me updated and also answered some questions around using certain features of the car.
