Experiencing Brompton Bicycle

Ordered Brompton bicycle to try out for a month before deciding if I should buy it. Could not get the electric one so settled for manual for now until electrical is available. Had to wait a week to 10 days for it to be delivered however the bicycle that came was brand new. 👍

Great bike

Great bike, very clear instructions on folding/unfolding and delivery was on time. Rode it for the first time and it felt I had been doing it for years.

UPS lost the delivery. Brompthon helped me and shoppen very quick a replacement. The process was very transparent and I was always reliaby informed

Lack of Customer Service

Brompton US can’t be bothered to use the United States Postal Service upon request? Why? Pure unadulterated, lack of customer service.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry this experience left you feeling this way. I completely understand how frustrating it is when a specific shipping request isn’t accommodated, especially when it feels like a simple ask.

At the moment, our shipping setup in the U.S. is tied closely to our fulfillment partners and carrier agreements, which means we’re not always able to switch to USPS on demand. That said that limitation shouldn’t come across as a lack of care or effort on our part, and we appreciate you calling it out.

I bought the Premium Brompton Service…

I bought the Premium Brompton Service and it was brilliant. Box delivered. Collection arranged. And a week or so later you have a bike that rides like new! The support team were great throughout, as I had several questions and a couple of requests for additional adjustments during the service. Questions answered promptly and fully. Additional adjustments undertaken at no extra cost. I am so very pleased with the service, and can’t recommend it enough. Well done Brompton. Excellent service!

Great but room for improvement eg speed of delivery

It generally takes a bit long before an order is received. Since i’md think that Brompton holds alll the spare parts in stock I would think that it is possible to process orders and dispatch them much quicker. Tracking could also be more straight forward and would benefit from showing when items are prepared for order etc.

Spare parts are of high quality and I appreciate that they come with detailed instructions how to fit them. The labelling could be slightly better esp. since now there are so many different bike types and years which have very specific requirements (eg. Gear /break cables!). Parts have become noticeably expensive, so I was happy to see some older parts for my pre 2017 being offered on ‘clearance’ and I tried to stock up on some of them while there were available at the price.

Other than that I have loved everything about my Brompton and the company behind it for nearly 20 years now!

Orders delayed

Orders delayed, notification of day and time 45mins before delivery, DPD drivers stopping outside your house to pretend the delivered then driving off (not all DPD drivers as we go some deliveries), pathetic response from Brompton - sure if I was buying my response would have been quicker.

Good, but motor needs new firmware I think

The bike is lovely, I have the Forest Green G-Line Electric. The only reason I am not giving it 5 starts is due to the resistance in the motor when starting to set off from a stand still. I know there is a function for walk assist which I’ve tried to use while setting off but that doesn’t make much of a difference. The motor is good once going, but I think Brompton should release a firmware update which allows the motor to kick in straight away as soon as the motor detects the pedals being pushed, not once it’s had a full turn of pedalling then the motor kicking in.
