Unbelievable product so easy to use makes house monitoring hassle free. I had tried a lot of other leading brand products all with disastrous result as there was always something missing. This is a high quality product, looks good and is easy to install (less than 1min) .... loving it

Had some issues over time

Had some issues over time, but the Cocoon works ok most of the time and the support is great.

Later edit: unfortunately I have to amend my review and re-rate it with 2 stars instead of 4. This is a nice niche product, but you can't use it as a security device, maybe only as an addon to some other security solution.
- I had way too many false alarms
- the device failed to detect me returning home multiple times
- the device failed to detect the cleaning lady entering the house while I was away (it was not a burglary; she simply forgot to call me to disable the alarm when she arrived, and the Cocoon failed to detect her entering the house)

Great little device

I was one of the original indigogo funders. After a few software updates and brilliant (almost personal ) customer service dealing with a few teething problems the Cocoon works like a dream . Okay it still goes off when a particularly loud lorry rumbles past but it’s hit rarer and rarer.its even got used to our 2 cats, I guess the little machine does actually learn . No problem in connecting up people who stay at our house for the weekend either.
Overall I must be at least 3 to 3 years in and it now just sits there doing its thing and I don’t have to even think about it.

Setup was slightly problematic but…

Setup was slightly problematic but seems to work quite well. For some reason rather than setting up via bluetooth or wifi it uses sound from your mobile to pass the wifi code... this would be fine if it worked but it struggles to do it and you have to faff with it for way to long ( I finally got it to work 3 days after getting it! Also one of my lodgers had a few problems setting up his access with the app which meant we were getting false triggers a lot and werent sure whether to say they were ok intrusions as cocoon was learning... I assume this was just a manual disarm. Cocoon has learnt the sound of the live in chickens which is cool so they dont set of the trigger but unusual sounds do ... so overall works well but faff setting up... also not sure why there is a LED on all the time ... kind of makes it stick out when id prefer it to match the background... im sticking masking tape over mine so its not so obvious to the would be burglar...

Hi Keith, thanks for taking the time to post us some feedback. We chose our setup process to be as quick, easy and most importantly as secure as possible. Sometimes things don't always quite go to plan, but our support team are always on hand with helpful hints and tips if you need us. We love the idea of live-in chickens, and we're thinking they may just make ideal security companions for Cocoons! Do you have your Cocoon set up to watch over them? The team would very much like to see them so please do share some pictures!
In relation to the LED, we've had a couple of other customers suggest a kind of stealth mode where you can turn off the LEDs to allow it to fade away into the background more, and this is already up on our big wall of ideas. The LED is important to give an indication to Cocoon owners that their Cocoon is online and working, and also flashes when another user is watching live. In the event of an intruder, drawing attention to a Cocoon has helped cut short at least one burglary that we know of, and will naturally help garner a nice closeup of their faces should they chose to interfere with it. We'd really appreciate any more feedback on must-have features that you might like to see in the app, so if you have any more suggestions, head over to the website to chat with the team, or email them to help@cocoon.life. Great product

Great product, easy to install but would request a more comprehensive manual. I have been finding it difficult to find an explanation of the icons displayed and what they mean and why they may be likely. I would also like it to be made clear that anyone being invited onto the home family will require a certain amount of data available on their device to do so.

Smart & easy - but patchy video

Easy to set up on the first phone - a bit more trouble to add family members.
Biggest challenge is that live video feed seems often patchy (and I have fibre!)

Cocoon is amazing

Cocoon is amazing! Love the fact that you are able to use the app on your phone with it, as it makes it easy to manage while on the go. I would recommend to anyone interested in home security without the hassle of the old fashioned ways of setting alarms etc.

I have the cocoon and I feel really…

I have the cocoon and I feel really reassured whilst at work that my property is safe.
I changed my phone so was worried about setting it up to my new phone but it was easily reset and set up on my new phone.

I love the cocoon and regularly recommend to people.

Feel so much safer with this device!

Feel so much safer with this device and was very straight forward and easy to install. Did take a little while to learn but now it has, it is super accurate and reliable. I also like to be able to check when I know I’ve got expected visitors arriving.

Bought on the 11th April

Bought on the 11th April, it is in my garage and it burnt me. 48c on my temperature gun before I switched it off.

This is too hot to handle safely, absolutely no warning on the packaging that these are normal expected running temperatures and not safe with children.

Totally dissapointed with your health and safety

Hi Tony,

We're very sorry to hear this. Our 1st generation Cocoons have been designed to use conduction cooling to draw heat away from our high-spec components and as such it will operate at a warm temperature when conducting more power intensive activities.

We can confirm that these temperatures are within designed parameters and tolerances, and are fully compliant with safety standards for non-hand held devices operating in normal domestic ambient temperatures (below 35 degrees Celcius).

Our 2nd generation Cocoons have been slightly redesigned so that a lot of the processing is now done in the cloud, removing the need for on-board power, with the added bonus that they generate less heat.

We're committed to ensuring that all Cocoon users feel safe and confident in using Cocoon to make their homes secure, and I know that our Support Team are currently in the process of making sure that this happens for you.

Now that we have had the device for a week or so the regular alarms during the day have calmed down somewhat, however still having issues at night so having to turn the device off due to the continual alarm alert.

Hey Stephen, thanks for taking the time to review Cocoon.

It sounds like you are arming your Cocoon at night when you are home, and this might be causing these alerts. Cocoon uses your smartphone's location to know when you are home and it will auto-arm/disarm accordingly.

When you are at home and Cocoon is disarmed, your movements/activities will not trigger an alert.

You can manually arm your Cocoon in the app when you go to bed if you'd like Cocoon to watch over your home while you sleep, but this may lead to some alerts if members of the household move about during the night.

Excellent product

Excellent product. Sub sound is far superior to motion detection. Very few false activations after the learning period. I now have two for total coverage. Although just one picks up sub sound alerts across the entire house. Glad to support British innovation too. The new addition filters background hiss on viewing and seems to connect faster. Can't fault Cocoon.

Worth every penny

My husband was banging on about getting a security camera for ages. We were put off by annual subscriptions, ugly products, and the hassle of installing them. Then we got a Cocoon - very impressive. Once the app learned about the movements in our house it became a piece of the furniture, literally. Such a useful product to have, especially with children in the house.
