Very disappointing experience – ruined a birthday meal
We visited Cosy Club Cardiff Bay on 6th December 2025 for what was meant to be my son’s birthday meal, and unfortunately the experience was extremely poor from start to finish.
After being seated, we waited around 20 minutes before anyone came over to even offer us drinks. The service throughout felt slow and disorganised, with no apology or explanation.
When our food finally arrived, it was very disappointing. The Christmas pie was disgraceful and nowhere near the standard we expected or the price charged. Overall, the food was not very good and certainly not worthy of a special occasion.
To make matters worse, we were given dessert menus, only for the waitress to return 10 minutes later to tell us we couldn’t order desserts because they needed the table for the next booking. This was incredibly frustrating and unacceptable, especially as it was a birthday celebration.
The whole evening felt rushed, poorly managed, and lacking any care for customers. What should have been a memorable birthday meal was completely ruined. We left very unhappy and will not be returning.
Lovely place
Lovely place, nice staff unfortunately the food was less than average. I had the Christmas pie, it looked amazing until I cut into it, basically it was just a pastry case and nothing inside so disappointing
£8.50 for 3 cold garlic prawns.
£8.50 for 3 cold garlic prawns starter plate.
The waiter forgot my drinks - we reordered but then still the cold food came before the drinks which i had to request again.
Really underwhelming - won’t be going back.
Pre-orders lost
Starter did not come as pre-ordered. Somehow lost our pre-orders and our food orders had to be taken again by the waitress. Drinks are very expensive.
Another great visit to Cosy Club…
Another great visit to Cosy Club Basingstoke. Very welcoming and friendly staff. They were very accommodating I’m in wheelchair so I need a table with plenty space and room so I can wheels under the table. The kitchen kindly cut up my meal as I struggle to cut things up
Extremely rude waitress with vey bad attitude …
Food fine but one waitress who was serving us was extremely rude, made a mistake with our order, shook her head in a rude manner after I let her know we were missing food and then she threw the plate of food on the table when it arrived. We have never been treated so appallingly in a restaurant ever before, even my child commented how rude she was. Merry Christmas!
We booked a table at the St Alban's…
We booked a table at the St Alban's branch for a family Xmas lunch. We arrived and they had no clue which table we were to be seated at. Despite there being plenty of staff it took nearly 20 minutes for them to take our drinks order, staff kept walking past the table and ignoring us. We then asked for menu which had no prices, when we asked the staff they had no clue, next was starters which they got the order wrong. it was then another 30 minutes before they came back to ask for our meal options despite all the staff standing behind us at the till station chatting. It took another unacceptable time frame for them to ask if we want desert and then the bill. We all left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. The only staff member that I saw doing anything was the Manager who was rushed off his feet. I'm giving it 2 stars and that only because of the décor. Customer service was terrible they need to do better!
I recommend to everyone i know
The Portsmouth branch is lovely !
The food is amazing , the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is perfect .
I recommend this place to everyone i know !
Booked the Christmas party this year and everyone who attended said they thoroughly enjoyed it
Fantastic experience hosting our baby’s welcome party!
We recently hosted our baby’s welcome party at the Cosy Club in Oxford, using their private room, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The space was beautiful, cosy, and perfect for a family celebration — it felt both intimate and special.
The team were incredibly helpful throughout the planning process and on the day itself. They made everything so easy and stress-free. The canapés were delicious, beautifully presented, and there was plenty for everyone. The drinks service was smooth and attentive, with staff checking in regularly to make sure guests had everything they needed.
All of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was and how well everything was organised. It really was the perfect place to celebrate such an important moment for our family.
I can’t recommend Cosy Club Oxford highly enough for private events — great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back! 🎉💛

My experience was amazing at the cosy club at Albans really quick and friendly staff food was super yummy and service was immaculate ! I was served by Jamie
And Gershon definitely will be coming back
Not recommended - better value and food elsewhere
My first visit to Cosy Club Guildford — and, judging by the table-wide consensus, the last.
We came as a large group on the “set party menu,” which, ironically, is anything but set. Think limited choice sprinkled with mystery surcharges for anything that so much as looks interesting. For £26 a head, you’d expect at least decent food. Instead, we got portions so tiny they felt like they were auditioning for a role in Honey, I Shrunk the Meals.
Starters were microscopic, mains felt suspiciously microwaved (unless deep-fried), and most everything came with an “optional chargeable extra” or surcharge that really should have been included.
The curry? Chicken hotter than the sauce — you can draw your own conclusions about that cooking method — and the flatbread was, of course, extra.
The burgers? Miniature. Think “fun-size,” but without the fun. A few lonely fries on the side in a tin thing and nothing else. Want cheese? That's £1.50 please. Bacon? That's £1.95.
Want a steak? Yep that's £7 extra. Sauce? £2.50 extra.
The buttermilk chicken promised a green bean salad. What actually arrived looked like one green bean sliced into four pieces for dramatic effect.
The cod and chips? Also tiny. Also came with a £3 surcharge, because why not at this point?
Which begs the question: WHAT IS THE POINT OF A SET MENU?
As a first-time visitor, I genuinely wanted to like this place. But honestly, you’d get better value at Wetherspoons — bigger plates, lower prices, tastier food. Sure, you lose the quirky wallpaper, the curated chaos of oil paintings, and the thrill of discovering yet another surcharge… but your stomach might actually feel fed.
So we all came away really disappointed. I cannot recommend.
Great Experience at Bournemouth Cosy Club
Visited Bournemouth Cosy Club and was impressed with the service and food! Great atmosphere and would definitely return!
St Albans Cozy club experience
Been to Bristol and Stamford Cozy Club many times, so it is a fave. All new places are allowed to have teething problems (looking by the current ratings for the St Albans recently opened branch) but I have to say today we had a fabulous meal,
Food was great.
Our waiter Reese was amazing!
Best service we could wish for! He is a huge asset to the branch!
The staff were on the ball, attentive, alert and busy. It appeared the leaders had a close eye on everything .
Great experience, thank you Reese, it is people like you that make it a true worthy experience to go out and eat 😉

Went in to Liverpool club and ordered an Irish coffee. Very disappointed yet another restaurant chain that doesn’t know how to make it.. its not difficult guys unless specifically asked not to the sugar goes in the coffee BEFORE you put the cream ontop.
As everyone who drinks liquer coffees knows Otherwise all you get is bitter tasting coffee or the cream gets mixed with the milk which completly kills the whole point of having a coffee with cream ontop!!
Bad staff experience
Good food but I wanted to organise a company Christmas dinner at this place and the staff takes too long to answer, when they did they were very condescending and inflexible with any negotiation regarding the hiring of their private room and the minimum spent. Not coming back and not organizing any event there any more. Terrible attitude, felt rude. Avoid if you can, there are nicer staff service in places like the London Brasserie or Thames Lido and other nice places around in town.
Appalling service!
I visited the Cosy Club Cardiff, just outside St David’s shopping centre, today to celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday and was really upset by the incredibly poor attitude of the staff.
I had noted on the booking that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday, so hoped the staff would acknowledge this, however no-one did.
We arrived and made eye contact with the gentleman in charge of seating, he saw us but ignored us and left us waiting until the queue had built up behind us.
He didn’t smile or say hello, just looked at us and said how many? I explained I had booked a table, he looked at the screen then took us to our table. I commented then to my partner how unwelcoming he was.
The gentlemen who served us asked my daughter for ID when she ordered an alcoholic drink, which was understandable and absolutely fine. However he didn’t acknowledge it was the same date as her birthday on her ID, so I pointed it out making a joke and he just carried on asking for our order, absolutely no engagement with us.
During the time we were there 4 people came to the table either bringing food or drink, whilst my daughter was opening her presents, but not one of them commented or said happy birthday.
They forgot our drink order so we had to ask again, they didn’t have the smoothie I wanted but just stood and stared at me without offering an alternative, and they forgot my partners order of a second coffee.
Any staff we had contact with were low energy and unsmiling, leaving us feeling totally unseen and unimportant.
This was a special day for my daughter and we left as soon as we could because it was such an unpleasant experience.
I have visited other Cosy Clubs, including the one in Coventry several times as it’s near my son’s uni, and had really positive experiences so I had high hopes when I picked this to celebrate today.
I work in customer service myself and understand that shifts can be busy and know the challenges that can arise, but this blatant refusal to smile or be interested in your customers is not acceptable and extremely disappointing.
Cosy Club St Albans Amazing Service and Food
My daughter and I had breakfast at Cosy Club St Albans, which opened up today, 27th October.
Had a great experience, with all the staff being invited and serving with a smile.
Drinks and food came out on time and tasted amazing and fresh.
It pains me to have to write this…
It pains me to have to write this review, but given the circumstances, I feel really upset that the whole experience turned out to be so disappointing.
Our close friends were going to Leicester on an appointment at Mercedes and so a booking was made at 2.30 at The Cosy Club so a lovely day was planned.
They had been at this establishment a few times before but this was our first time.
We arrived slightly early and was shown to our table.
A nice, quite expensive, bottle of wine was ordered and then subsequently the orders for food were taken.
The drinks arrived, but it was an hour later that the food arrived.
I ordered the King Prawn and Cod Linguine one had the Butchers Brunch, one Steak Sandwich and one Gluten Free House Burger.
The meals were served, but then things started to very quickly go wrong.
The King Prawns and Cod were non existent apart from a flake or so of cod and a couple of what I can only describe as shrimp. It was cold, dry and my friend on seeing the meal was so embarrased he called the member of staff and advised that this meal was unacceptable (Priced at £18.50 or £18.95) I was given an option to have a fresh meal or change to an alternative meal....I chose the buttermilk chicken. It was ok, but really not of a decent standard and the general comments about the meals was it was not good value.
We all 4 of us eat out a lot 2/3 times a week so this really turned out to be a bitter disappointment all round. My friend and I hardly ever quibble about the bill and always split the amount equally and are usually generous on our tips.
Given the circumstances we decided not to add on a tip as things were really pretty poor.
After paying the bill my friend queried what the bill was in more detail and indeed whether a service charge had been added. 10% had been added £11.11 which upset me a lot as this whole experience was not good by any means.
As we were leaving I happened to mention to the lass who took payment how upset I was given the astonishingly poor meal which should never have left the kitchen as the absence of seafood was outrageous. I advised her this was my first time here and it was pretty appalling, she apologised but then merely said sorry this was not her section which did not go down too well. I advised her to relay the sentiment to management as this was a dreadful experience of which I do not take any pleasure in writing.
I have been in business for many years and my friend a managing director of a highly reputable company.
He was so disappointed feeling bad for taking us here experiencing such poor standards and poor handling and having a service charge added which I now resent paying.
You have, without doubt, lost four clients who will never frequent any Cosy Club establishment in the future.....Sad...Not good business I'm afraid!!!
Fantastic staff and to die for food!
My boyfriend and I had such a perfect date night at the new Reading branch! The food is amazing, particularly the starters (we had the asian chicken, halloumi and arancini). They also have a fab selection of cocktails and the general vibe is really warm and upbeat. The service is what keeps bringing me back though - Joe behind the bar is great fun and makes you feel welcome and at home, a really underrated staff member. Henry the manager was really attentive and ensured we were having a good evening throughout the night, and our waitress Jessica was really knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely cared about providing us a great experience. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff!
Date night at the Cosy Club
Had such a good time at the Cosy Club. The atmosphere was spot on for what me and my girlfriend were looking for — relaxed with a great buzz about it. All the staff we spoke to were super friendly and made the whole evening really easy and enjoyable. Our server Jessica was lovely, really helpful with the menu and just had a great attitude the whole time. A shoutout to Joe on the bar as he kept the energy up all evening, mixed some really nice drinks and was super easy to chat to. The food was excellent too, with a great selection of starters and mains. We didn’t have room for dessert, but they looked amazing.
Would definitely recommend for a date night or drinks with friends. Haven’t been for lunch yet but we definitely will! Great food, great drinks, great people.
