Buyers should be aware that, at least on the Rest of World website, their returns policy forces you to return items at your own cost. Depending on your country this entails shipping fees of 20€ or more.

A few years ago, I received a pair of DuBarry Galway Ladies Country Boots as a birthday gift. Those boots were scrupulously cared for, and used only during the point-to-point season.
However, the soles have now split apart and, according to my local shoe repair service, cannot be mended. Dubarry are perfectly aware of this long-standing manufacturing fault; they can suggest a boot repairer directly linked to their products, but refuse either to pay for the repair or offer any kind of compensation.
Is this really acceptable for such an expensive item? Does anyone buy rugged country boots only to find that the soles rot due to a known manufacturing fault?
Updated to include the Dubarry response to my enquiry:
"All Dubarry products are purchased with a one year Warranty "
Is that warranty credible for a pair of boots costing almost £400? Clearly, these goods are not fit for purpose.
Save yourself from heartache and buy from a more honourable and trustworthy company.
Edited to respond to Dubarry reply: Of course you haven't received any photographs. In your email correspondence, you advised me not to bother with photographs; you told me it wouldn't make any difference. I paid £140 to have them repaired by the repair company you recommended and you didn't even offer to help with the cost! Dreadful attitude from a supposedly upmarket company.

J'ai acheté une paire de bottes Dubarry of Irland dans un magasin au Luxembourg. Grosse, déception en rentrant à la maison de voir une étiquette, cachée cousue aux bottes, fabriquée au Portugal (made in Portugal ). Donc, ces bottes à 400€ sont à vendre, car trop cher pour du portugais, désolé.

Aucun sens client manœuvre dilatoire pour éviter d’agir la garantie et de plus ecrits menaçants si on insiste pour faire fonctionner la garantie
Just about to throw three pairs of dubarry boots away! Husband and I have had them for some years but very lightly worn and all three pairs have disintegrating soles - no point in having fabulous leather uppers with man made soles that fall to pieces. No point in having them expensively repaired for it to happen again.

I ordered leather care kit with cleaner restorer and leather conditioner from Dubarry Australia. It seems to be a very old kit, the packaging box was very worn and looked old. The cleaner had completely separated into water and a thick gel. The conditioner has completely dried up and impossible to rub into the leather despite trying to to gently reheat some and remelt it, it’s just crumbly! Anyway I have an expensive kit that is unusable. I have contacted Dubarry Australia and they have not responded.
Following a 1 star and the above review Dubarry reached out to replace the product I purchased. I have now updated my review to reflect my satisfaction at the responsiveness of Dubarry.

I bought a pair of Durbarry Newport Gore-tex boots in 2017. I've used them strictly only when sailing, approximately 15 occasions per year. Last year both the inner gray and outer black soles started to loosen, and the black one falling apart.
When contacting Durbarry to see what could be done they referred me to a shoe repair shop in the Netherlands (I live in Sweden, bought them from a local dealership) where they could offer repair to the cost of €130 excluding shipping costs,, this with a one year warranty.
I did not take the bait.

Ich habe die Weste Baltic in Größe L gekauft aufgrund der Größentabelle. Leider viel zu groß (ich bin 1,83, 80 Kg, normal gebaut). Rücksendung ist bei Dubarry etwas komplizierter, aber der Kundendienst war absolut super. Kostenfreie Rücksendung und Lieferung in M passt perfekt. Die Weste selbst ist super. Ganz leicht, etwas länger als erwartet, was ich gut finde. Der Stoff ist ganz weich, sehr angenehm zu tragen, sehr gute Haptik und ist aus recycelten Kunststoffen. Manchmal muss etwas schiefgehen, um großartigen Service und ein tolles Produkt zu erleben.

My husband bought a pair of Donegal boots quite a few years ago. The upper was still in very good condition but they needed a re-sole. Well out of warranty Dubarry told us that The Leeds boot company did their out of warranty work. We organised this online and sent off the boots only to have the boots sent back with a note saying that they don’t resole boots over size 12! His boots were size 13. We then contacted Dubarry direct and they wouldn’t mend them either (still can’t understand why not) and offered us 20% off a new pair! We did get a prompt refund for everything (postage/mending from the Leeds Boot co….but it was such a waste of time. Moral of our experience….dont buy Dubarry boots over size 12….even though Dubarry continue to make boots over size 12 they won’t mend them.

After 30 years of service, and twice resoled by Dubarry it was time to upgrade my Ultima boots for a round the world yacht race. No other sail boots come close to the comfort, warmth and durability of these boots. And I've yet to try any other deck shoe as robust or as comfortable as the traditional Dubarry deck shoes. Thank you Dubarry for the products and the exceptional after sales service. I will update this review with an honest appraisal of Dubarry footwear when I return from my round the world adventure next year.

Bought Dubarry Ultima sailing boots in black. They were incredibly expensive but looked amazing. They were easy to get on and off unlike other sailing boots. However the leather on the front of the boot very quickly wore right through. They soaked up water which got right through the boot so spent many hours sailing with very wet feet. Bizarrely the boots when stored below deck were soaked even though entirely dry when stowed. On land, they also seem to absorb moisture from the air! Not what you want from a waterproof boot!! The maintenance kit is also hugely expensive for the tiny amount of product. There are far, far better boots out there for a fraction of the cost - even basic wellingtons perform better at sea!! Not recommended other than for a trip to the shops or a cool party.

Ordered boots a size larger so I could use thick socks, they are too small even with thin socks. Sent back for refund, but tax and shipping not refunded. They do not state this in refund section. Was going to exchange for bigger size, but won't now

Bij mijn eerste paar Dubarry laarzen vielen de zolen uit elkaar en kwamen los van de laarzen.
Omdat we destijds een wereldreis maakten met onze zeilboot, in overwegend mooi weer, waren ze nauwelijks gedragen. Misschien als gevolg van temperatuur en vocht?
Dus weer een paar gekocht, en ja hoor, na enkele jaren weer hetzelfde. (Ook nú nauwelijks gedragen) Dus 2 paar zeer kostbare laarzen van Dubarry van ondeugdelijke kwaliteit in de vuilnisbak.
Nooit meer….

I have purchased a gille in January and the lining was loose. I have returned the item after couple of months and the manager Flory was more than willing to help me. She found the receipt as I didn’t have it based on the date of purchase and sent the gille to their fabric for a repair. She has quickly confirmed that all has been done and today I picked the article that was repaired. I would say that the level of service is great and that you are really feeling cosy in their Chelsea store.

I don’t usually write reviews but I have to acknowledge the helpfulness and follow up from the staff in the Sloane Square branch, most especially by Flory. I had a problem with my order which was quickly and very efficiently resolved, with pleasure! I am addicted to the Dubarry beautifully cut dressage style blouses - they are a super flattering cut and always look so smart- I wear them so often that it’s almost become my trademark. They really showed their appreciation of my custom and loyalty - that means a lot!

My boots are seven years old and have performed well. What’s disappointing for me is the inability to get them properly serviced. This is due in large part to how and where the shoes are made. These days, Dubarry’s shoes have been offshore to Portugal where they are now mass produced for global demand. Any time any product is changed to churn out more volume, quality always suffers. This is an insufferable truth regardless of whether you are buying shoes or hamburgers.
When my shoes did finally fail and completely separate, I learned that there are no Dubarry facilities in the US that can properly repair them. Based on the construction method utilized, this is likely more the culprit than if my shoes were hand (or even machine) stitched vs high pressure vacuum sealed. Of course there is no cobbler who can service this boot, because it is not meant to be serviced. It is constructed to be used and then thrown away. A big disappointment for a brand that was admired as recently as 20 years ago but has succumbed to greed and efficiency vs quality of construction. I’ve unfortunately owned my last pair if Dubarrys.
