Bandits
Bandits. I ordered a book, they mailed two by mistake. I marked one return to sender via FedEx. I ended up returning the other. They accused me of keeping one over the phone, so I had to pay for it to protect my credit. Do not do business with these scam artists. Very unfriendly people.
Terrible customer service.
Terrible customer service. Others have already mentioned their employee by name.
I asked for a book to be put aside. Their singular customer service employee made the order.
Ordered the book and made payment. Got a receipt. After a week of no answer I log in a find the sale deleted from my profile. Upon contacting them I am informed that the book was sold out.
This was extremely disappointing. And that cannot be a smart business practice.
My other interaction with their costumer service was also frustrating.
I asked if a certain book could be expected reprinted. Customer service replied in the negative. But two weeks later it was indeed republished - but I had already bought a different copy.
I would advise you never to buy from Easton Press. Buy second hand.
Nice products, malicious spammy marketing
Sold me a nice leatherbound book, which was great! However, they then put my shipping address on a mailing list and won't stop sending me spam mail. The address is my office, which makes the spam mail even more annoying. I've asked them twice over 4 months to stop sending, they said that they would over the phone, and the mail is still coming in. The mail is also made to look as if it's a check, so I'd consider the mail to also be deceptive. While there's no law against sending people mail they don't want, the lack of respect for the customer has made this a terrible experience.
Charged for books I never ordered
I have been enrolled in some book club or something I've been sent 2 books I didn't order and charged hundreds on my card. I ordered a book once through them and now they're charging me and shipping me books I didn't order!
Customer Service is horrible
Last year I had contacted Customer Service with some questions in regards to the Wizard of Oz collection. I was not able to afford the collection outright nor with the amount of $158.31 for 6 installments. Maryann, the representative that answered my inquiry, told me that she can do a payment of $79.15 for 12 installments and that she can charge me every month automatically for the agreed upon $79.15. I was so happy! I placed the order and paid the first installment in September 2022. Got the books about a month later. This is where everything goes south. As I was told that the payments would get charged automatically every month, I kind of let it drift out of my mind. Payment was not charged automatically. I just happened to notice that I was not charged for the month of October in November. Maryann apologized for the oversight and assured me that the payments will automatically be charged the 10th of each month. Everything was good for the next 2 months and then in February I was not charged (I did not notice that I wasn't charged that month). I emailed Maryann and questioned it (emailed March 2nd) and asked if I would be charged twice. She did not answer me and just charged me the $158.31. I let it slide that time as it was March and the February payment was not charged. Then in April I was charged $158.31 again. I emailed Maryann and explained to her that I made the payment agreement that we did because I could not afford the $158.31 monthly and broke down the payment schedule of what I owed that we agreed upon. And then it happened AGAIN the next 3 months!!! I did get one month credited back to me because I was being overcharged per our payment agreement when I emailed her yet again because apparently Maryann couldn't keep to the payment agreement that she suggested! I would have never purchased the collection if I knew this is what was going to happen. Yes, the books are fabulous but not worth the headache that came with it. I will never purchase another book from Easton Press and I would strongly suggest family and friends to go elsewhere as well. I am just happy this ordeal is finally over with this months payment (and guess what?! I was charged $158.31 again!). Definitely not worth the headache. If Maryann wasn't allowed to make the payment plan that we has agreed upon in September of 2022 then she should be reprimanded for making it and then not following it. Happy with the product but not the Customer Service that this company provided.
Replaced the book, no questions!!
I ordered a book and it arrived in bad condition. The spine was unglued. I wrote an email and asked if they knew what the best way to fix it was, and they sent me a whole brand new book!!!! Fantastic service Easton Press!!!
Shoddy Construction, Inaccurate Website Description
When I opened the book, the spine fell away from the pages. I found on doing a bit of research that it is actually a $26 book from Dorling Kindersley (DK) that has been rebound in a very shoddy manner. EP is charging $150 for a $26 book to which they have added a possibly "leather" cover and possibly "silk" end paper. The description on the website proudly states: "Sewn pages -- not just glued like ordinary books." The pages were NOT sewn. In fact, they weren't even glued, except to one another. This was my first -- and last -- purchase from EP.
cannot be trusted to get an order right
I purchased two autographed first edition leather hardcovers from Easton Press last year and the books arrived and they are beautiful. so, when a new offer came up for more books that I may be interested in, I placed an order for three books.
Big mistake.
I'll never buy from Easton Press again. they immediately double charged my card. I emailed them with an immediate cancellation of my order because that is incompetent accounting. The orders were canceled and the pending charges removed.
5 days later I was notified that the three books are being shipped and I was charged again for the order. I quickly contacted them to tell them to cancel again the order and they refused. I threatened to contest the charge with my bank and they did not care.
I was told that return shipping labels would be sent to me so that I can return the books and receive a refund but those labels never arrived.
it has now been 12 days since the initial order and I just received the books in three separate FedEx boxes and have to go to the trouble of shipping them back.
I don't mind an occasional ordering problem where an item can be returned etc etc what I don't like is being charged three times for the same order and the last time being told that I would not receive the refunds until they received the books back even though it is 100% their fault for shipping out the books on a canceled order.
there is a law about that as a matter of fact... shipping items that are not ordered become forfeit. I'm not going to enforce that but it is what it is. they shipped the books 5 days after I canceled the order. that is incompetence.
I am not upset about the books, I am upset about incompetent accounting, of the initial double charge and then the third charge after the books were incorrectly shipped. if they had not double charged me in the first place, then there would have been no problem at all. they were completely incapable of dealing with the situation after that.
I will never order anything from this company again. The 1 star reflects that I do not trust them to ever place an order with them again despite my pleasant initial order last year with the company. trust is earned.
Unethical and dishonest business…
Unethical and dishonest business practices. I had been warned by other but decided to give them a chance. They were not able to send my book but are continuing to charge me for it. Every time I call they can not provide any answers. They always say they will have to call me back. It’s been a month and after several tries still not one returned call. They just took a second payment.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever! Kathy is extremely nasty! Ordered something on 11/27, got a shipment email on 12/3 and then on 12/7, got another confirmation/payment email with a different and higher amount! The close minded customer service agent kept saying 276 plus 7.5 percent tax, but I guess she left her calculator at home, because it was more! Instead of arguing, she could have used her calculator. I sent my original confirmation email with the correct amount and sent them my payment with a higher total. Who knows if this is a pattern and hope people don’t notice this “mistake”. Called and emailed requesting a supervisor, and nobody called or emailed me back! I was supposed to get my $300 purchase on Sunday, then Monday, then Tuesday and Wednesday. Tracking hasn’t moved and now it says “no delivery date available”. This place is a big red flag and shady! Do not order from them!!!
Don’t Give Them Email Addy
Good products. Worth it. However, if you give them your email address, you’ll never, ever, get off their mailing list. No matter how many times you ask, they’ll email you everyday. Sometimes more than once a day. Do not give them your real email address. It’s 2021 guys. You can scrub email addresses of people who don’t want to hear from you really easily.
