Waste of money

I did 3 allergy saliva tests for the same dog. All completely different results and completely inaccurate. Biggest waste of money and scam going.

Whilst we take all client issues seriously, we want to point out that the tests we have on file with the email address you provided were purchased two years apart Test 1: 28/03/2021 & Test 2: 24/07/2023. We have no record of a third test as when requested you did not provide the case numbers so we cannot comment on this.

It is important to understand that whilst our test is commonly referred to as an "allergy test," it is designed to measure intolerance and sensitivities in pets using protein measurements. Unlike traditional allergy tests, the results reflect your pet's responses to various food items and allergens based on their sensitivities.

It is therefore important to recognize that a dog's sensitivities can change over time, and some sensitivities may even fade or disappear. These changes are different from true allergies, which are more serious and potentially life-threatening. Therefore, had you done the tests simultaneously then your claim would have warranted further investigation. However, since the tests were not done at the same time then the difference in results is justified.

In fact, changing your dog's diet between the initial test and the most recent one could be a significant factor contributing to the differing reactions to various food items and allergens. Please keep in mind that it might take several weeks for a dog to fully adjust to a new diet, potentially affecting their response patterns.

It is crucial to understand that this test is not a definitive diagnostic tool and is not meant to replace professional veterinary advice.

Whilst we take all clients complaint seriously, and of course there are situations where we can be at fault, in this case we believe the review is invalid and we stand by the results according to your dog’s diet and lifestyle at the time of each test.

We do however wish your dog the best of health and we do look forward to continuing to provide our ever-growing range of DNA tests for dogs to our growing number of customers for these tests.

Excellent service.

Good service I received, their instructions were simple I had no Hussle. Whilst you wait for results They did give clear communication via email. After receiving my samples I got details instructions
On how to use the swabs super simple and harmless, after returning them to them I got email confirming they got the package, that got my nerves down😊. Moreover the estimated date of results came earlier than the actual date estimated.
Overall good service I'm satisfied with them.

The DNA company to use!

Had the easiest experience with EasyDNA UK. I ordered my kit, which I received quickly with easy to follow instructions. I carried out my necessaries & sent back via recorded delivery (which is highly advised).
I received an email notification within 3 days of dispatch from EasyDNA advising of them receiving my kit & the date for when I should receive results, which came a day early with a comprehensive report of confirmed tests. I couldn’t ask for more & am very happy with my experience & would recommend to anyone wishing to carry out any DNA tests….

they said my dog from 2o kilos is chihuahua

they send me an email where they say that my dog is mixed with pinch and chihuahua...my dig has almost 20 kilos.

So i send them a photo asking for an explanation and they say sorry sorry it's border collie....
NON of his parents is collie and he is mixed...not pure
so for me this was A BIG NO!!!!

So the answer is that even my dog from 20 killos doesn’t look like chihuahua or pinch it still could be one. Or you are saying me buying the test on a italian site does not test for italian breeds? Or maybe just because you answered one mail its okay to make fake tests?

We are sorry to hear that your experience with our service has not been to your expectation. Our team has been constantly in touch and responded to all your questions and issues about this test. We also re-ran the samples free of charge for additional validation. In fact, the second set of results provided higher quality results which is indicative of possible contamination in the first set of swabs which can happen.

As explained, the breeds reported in the results would not necessarily contribute to the appearance of the dog. Guessing a mixed breed's ancestry can be difficult even for knowledgeable dog observers because mixed breeds have much more genetic variation than purebreds. The presence of certain dog breeds in your results does not guarantee that the dog will look like the specific detected breeds because the genetic contribution from the other breeds present may be more visible.

Furthermore, there may have been breed(s) present in one or both parents that were not passed down to one or all of their puppies, which can sometimes explain the exclusion of certain breeds in a dog, and how litter mates can have different (or similar but not identical) breed compositions.

Finally, we cannot exclude the fact that that there might be other more dominant breeds in your dog that are not being detected due to them not being on the list of dogs that we test for. Your dog is Italian bred meaning our database may not cater for some of the local breeds there and your results would reflect the closest matching breed on a genetics basis.

We hope that our response has at least in part provided you with further information about how to interpret the results of the test.

Complete waste of money

As far as I'm concerned, my test has been a complete waste of money, your company (easydna.ie) is misrepresenting itself as an Irish company (which adds extra cost for the postage of the samples to your lab in the UK), your website is a disaster, and the multi-page report consisted of one page of inaccurate DNA analysis plus 5 pages of waffle that I could easily have found on the web.

Update - the best thing about this service is that they did at least provide a prompt refund, after initially refusing to do so. Still out of pocket on the Ireland-UK postage though... but they only get 1 star because there isn't a 'zero stars' button!

Update 2 - Based on the company's response below.
This response is much the same as the clearly 'pre-prepared' response which was provided to me by email when I first complained.
Like the customer further down these reviews - we were given a DNA analysis which had an unbelievable-high proportion of chihuahua (80%) combined with an equally-unbelievable percentage of Westie (20%). Our dog is a mixed-breed rescue (which is why we were curious to have her DNA analysed) - but as a 10kg+ dog with collie markings coarse grey fur and a collie temperament / behaviour - EasyDNA's analysis was simply laughable.

As to my other comments - the company has an Irish-based office address (which it shares with a selection of other companies, including one that sells sex-toys). The Irish address seems to be just a convenience, so they can claim an Irish web-domain, in order to appear to be an Irish-based company in Google searches.

As to the website - I hadn't realised that the registration details on their website were required to access the final report. Clicking the 'lost password?' link didn't lead anywhere useful, and it took a couple of days for Customer Service (based in Canada) to supply a working password reset link.

So - my original comments stand - and the best thing about my experience was that, once they'd decided they would refund me, the refund came through reasonably quickly.

Our customer service was very responsive to your case despite your efforts to make it sound otherwise.

We take comfort from the thousands of clients that have performed our animal tests and enjoyed learning more about their pets whether it is through ancestry or health testing.

I love this DNA test !!!

I love this DNA test !!!
I rescued this little dog who seemingly had a broken leg (which turned out was just hurt and is fine now) and she was starving and very cold.
She weighed 7 lbs and I figure was about maybe 2 months old and now after four months weighs 27 lbs so I was wondering what her DNA would tell me.
Very interesting that she has Canadian Eskimo Dog and many other types in her as we live in Nunavut where there are many of this type of dogs but all the other things that I see that makes my Bella is so interesting
SO, if you ever wonder what your doggie is carrying for DNA, do this test, you will be amazed!! I can also brag and say my little Bella looks just like the Thai Ridgeback (Yikes,lol) but hopefully has enough of the Cocker Spaniel gene in her to keep her not so big.
Thanks again I am suggesting to anybody I know that they have their doggie DNA done also

Say I muddled tests

Say I muddled tests, asking me for info I sent to them.
Now won't let me log in, and they won't do tests until I again.
Not all components in original envelope.
Saying I will have to purchase new tests!
One of the dogs is quite poorly now. So we need Allergy test results ASAP.

For the purpose of clarification, you sent back two sets of samples for your dog test, one set labelled as 'Primrose' and the second set as 'Fred'. However the documents sent in with the samples contradicted the labelled samples. 'Fred's' labelled samples arrived with paperwork with the dog's name as 'Stanley' and the samples labelled 'Primrose' came with paperwork with the dogs name as 'Fred'. (Of course we have documented evidence of this on our system).

Once we realised this mix up at your end we duly informed you about it and requested clarification as to which samples belonged to which dogs. By your own admission, you were not in a position to clarify this. In addition, you also failed to register the samples on the laboratory's database, which is also something we provided ample instructions about. The issues with your case are not of our making and we have clearly explained all of this in detail.

As a result of the mix up of the samples, it is normal practice to request new samples and charge for new kits as these are a cost to us. However, following our discussions, we decided to send these out free of charge to try and help you rectify the situation as fast as possible. The new kits have now been despatched and hopefully they will soon arrive as currently there is a postal strike.

We always take our clients complaints seriously, and as shown above we have been very proactive to fix a situation that was clearly not of our making. We now look forward to receiving your samples and being able to deliver the results for the better health of your pets.

This website is a scam

This website is a scam, profiting off people trying to investigate serious issues at a time of financial crisis.

Paid nearly £100 to try and investigate my puppy's allergy problem. Made three separate attempts to get a sample test - the first test kit was sent to us, which we sent off first class to be told it was never received. A second kit was sent to us, we received a totally empty and ripped up envelope, they tried to charge us for this. The third kit was sent and we sent our sample again first class, we were again told it was never received.

Absolutely atrocious customer service spending weeks and weeks trying to get answers but being told to "wait and see" and no further update. Our puppy's health issues have got so much worse and we naively were waiting for weeks on on this test to try and help resolve them.

Please please do not use this website or waste your money.

Edit in response: stating that we fail to mention the refund, yet this was at first refused and was only given once we had asked several times and explained our case over and over again. You tried to charge us for the replacement kits, even the empty one.

You sent back two kits to our company and both failed to arrive. It is of course the client's responsibility to ensure the samples arrive at our premises. Perhaps you did not apply enough postage which can delay delivery for up to several weeks. We receive hundreds of cases per week at our office and therefore blaming our company for problems with the postal service seems rather unfair especially during a period littered with postal strikes and related problems.

In addition, we would like to point out that we have sent you three sample collection kits at no additional charge. One of the kits arrived torn (of course not our fault) and we replaced it as well. For all this we didn't charge extra and incurred all the expense ourselves.

Finally, we provided you with a full refund for the test despite the fact that it is was your responsibility to make sure the samples arrived at us not vice versa. All this at a cost to us.

And despite all this you have still decided to put a bad light on our company (and our staff members who have been very responsive to your case) and failed to inform about the full refund. We believe this is rather unfair on our company and not at all merited.

Having said that, we still wish the best of health to your dog and take solace in the fact we have thousands of satisfied clients who have benefited from our services throughout the years and appreciated the service.

I'm sure this is who l used to allergy test my pet, although l can't find anywhere with that name, so hoping it's a subheader for you guys.

I've recieved my pets allergy results today after being received by the lab on 30/10.

I am absolutely blown away by the in depth information provided with each allergen.
I have info on how the allergens affects my dog internally & externally, and what measures to take if she were to be exposed.

I wasn't expecting that amount of detail at all !

The kit was easy to use.
I swabbed my girl under the tongue as directed and sent off the results ( l opted for recorded delivery)
I was informed when the lab had received her sample and when it was processing.
It took 20 days for a result, withing the 3 weeks stated.

So much makes sense now.

I'm so glad l used your company & will recommend you to anyone who has an issue with their pet.

Rip-off

I ordered a testing kit choosing First Class delivery, so it should have arrived within 2-3 working days. However, the kit hadn't arrived within a week and I needed the results sooner, so I requested a refund. I was told that the kit and postage is non-refundable (even though I haven't even opened the kit) and I'd have to pay £25 for them, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Your review is noted but for the record we would like to point out that at the moment there are the Royal Mail postal strikes ongoing bringing delays and backlogs to the postal system. This is a well advertised fact we even stated it on our website. It is also something we have no control over and this is why we recommend upgrading the postal option selected if the kit is required fast. First class postage does not guarantee fast delivery under these conditions. So whilst the delays are regretted it is not a fault that can be attributed to the company.

With regards to the kit, our customer care team advised you about admin fees involved as per our terms and conditions which you accepted at the time of order. Given the sensitive nature of the test and the fact the kit is personalised to the particular case it cannot be re-used by any other client. The cost therefore covers all the expenses related to the kit including the actual kit, the postage and the handling costs.

Whilst we take all clients complaint seriously, and of course there are situations where we can be at fault, in this case the problem was clearly caused by the postal service. We therefore believe that your complaint has no merit and remain committed to providing our many clients the best service possible.

Inaccurate and unethically so

I'm writing this review across the company's websites I've interacted with.

I wish I'd had read the news articles about the company and similar services, and how most of the testing is done by a single entity that has been shown to be factually inaccurate.

I decided to get a test for food intolerances at the same time as I got regular blood work and a stool sample test. EasyDNA's claims are… creative. I'd call them unethical and even borderline illegal, but I'm not a regulatory agency ignoring companies taking advantage of consumers.

Many of the ‘intolerances’ found or not found by this company's test fly in the face of a year-long elimination diet done with my GP and a license nutritionist, in the face of the stool sample's results, and even of regular blood work.

How can you claim I'm low on nutrient A based on an hair sample, when blood and stool testing shows perfectly normal or even high levels? Some results are just atrociously incorrect. Some results are laughable. I'm allergic to a substance but not any of the foods that contain it? I'm sensitive to some radioactive metals but not all of them? Am I Dr. Manhattan? What about my permanent iron deficiency, which your test considers to be under normal levels?

I could go on. The list of inaccuracies goes on. Very few of the intolerances and/or nutrient levels are on par with previous intolerance and allergy tests, existing blood work, and the stool sample test.

To put it very clearly: this is some BS.

We are always sorry to hear that your experience with our service has not been to your satisfaction. However, your comments are based on comparison of tests which have different methodologies and functions as explained further below. We also cannot comment on individual comparisons since we have not seen the other results.

An allergy is an auto-immune system response in which the body makes a mistake of an ingredient being harmful and creates a defence system to fight it. A reaction occurs when the immune system is fighting against the substance- even if a small amount has been consumed. This can be life threatening.

An intolerance is a digestive system response that affects many parts of the body. This occurs when something irritates the digestive system or when the digestive system is unable to digest or break down the foods.

Intolerances can manifest over time due to age and diet changes, due to the exposure or over exposure to that item. It takes 6-8 weeks for your body to heal and for you to feel the benefits after eliminating a certain food item, which is why after receiving our test result, you complete an elimination diet and remove items that are shown to be giving you an intolerance. If not completely, reducing the amount consumed can help. After this time, you can reintroduce the items back in your diet in measured amounts monitoring how you feel- and it will also give you an idea of how much you can tolerate in your diet.

Symptoms of an allergy can happen immediately whereas symptoms of an intolerances are delayed, which can be difficult to pin point as they can take up to 72 hours to display themselves. Test results from blood and stool can be affected by your last meal, as they reflect a shorter time period whereas results from a hair sample reflects a longer time period.

Once again we are sorry your experience was not to your expectations but we have had a lot of positive feedback on the results of the test and many have used it as a start to a journey of self discovery and a healthier lifestyle.

Suspecting my dog had intolerances as…

Suspecting my dog had intolerances as opposed to hard allergies, I felt it vital to pinpoint what was causing her irregular but definite upset tummy that would rouse every few weeks.
I had already figured chicken wasn't the best for her, but this testing has fully shown what she is intolerant of, and even one strong allergy I didn't know about, and being as it was household mould, I probably would never have known!
The results take a few weeks. but are well worth the wait. An array of allergens are tested and you get an easy to read list of results, showing what your dog has an allergy and /or an intolerance to.
Chicken and rice are often touted as the easy remedy for upset tums, but if your dog is sensitive to chicken, you are going to make things worse, not better! So I am thrilled to know EXACTLY what Doris is struggling with and simply eliminate it from her diet.
What is especially noteworthy, is with the results, you are advised and shown the way to remedy the problem, they don't just send you off with a list of stuff and you have to work out what to do about it!
I am hugely grateful to EasyDNA and won't hesitate to promote them to fellow dog owners, or use them again should I require it, a sterling service, with clear intentions, solutions, and explanations.
I am so glad we have this science at our disposal now, it can only make animals and owners lives better, healthier and maybe greener because they will use less poo bags for upset tums! Thank you EasyDNA, thanks to you, I know my dog a whole lot better than I did!
