I have been using Exchange 4 Free for several years and I have received prompt, professional service each time I've made a transfer. The rates are competitive and there is clear transparency regarding the rate prior to transfer. There is no withholding of funds once transfer has been authorised.

Exchange4free charges 480% profit
I wanted to send South African Rand to Australian Dollar. Exchange4Free quoted me 29c above the current exchange rate. I contacted Mercantile Bank directly in South Africa for a rate and they quoted me 5c above the current exchange rate. They say they charge no fees but they charge an excessive exchange rate. Need I say more?

have any intentions to assist us. According to you my bank account name is incorrect, but there is no way to adress this because your website does not allow us to do so. You do not respond to emails and do not answer your phone.

I have lost a substatial amount of money with exchange4free. When everything works well, and the receiving bank accepts the money, all is well. In my case the receiving bank rejected the funds, sent me proof that they had returned the money to exchange4free, and now the money is gone. I have been having alot email correspondence with exchange4free, and in the beginning I thought they were very forthcoming. My emails got anserwered emediately (I now see often an automated response), but my questions were not answered one. These were: Whose mistake was it that the funds were rejected, and secondly, what are the possibilities that the money will be retrieved and returned to me. The end of the story: Exchange4free have sent me a graphic diagram which shows that the money is still with the receiving bank....and the receiving bank claiming the money has been returned (with a bank statement as proof, and not just a graph). That is it. Since then no more word from exchange4free. I even sent them a statement of the receiving person, prooving that the money was never deposited onthere account. Rahter use a proper bank, pay some more fees, but be sure that if something goes wrong, the "system" does not just swallow up your money.
Xoom money transfer disappeared
Xoom money transfer disappeared. No refund.
Xoom.com says they have used EXCHANGE4FREE as their partner to send money to South Africa yet my money was not delivered and the recipient is unable to pick the money up since the money was not delivered to anywhere. They (Xoom and Exchange4free) are changing their story in every email their story is different. After I requested PROOF of delivery of money they wrote in an email that the money has been deposited, without providing any proof of that. They say their investigation is completed and they are refusing to refund my money.
Doesn't even answer phone
Waiting since Wednesday for funds to clear and it's Friday now, and soon to pass cut off, meaning funds won't clear until following week. No one is answering their phones ... on any extension. Its a joke !!!!
Incompetent & Untrustworthy
They sent the wrong mandate form to the recipient of my funds and there appears to be no way to (successfully) contact them.

Exchange 4 Free it is now 40 days in this DARK BLACK HOLE!
Sadly my trust in this company is fading away and I have to put the Red Flag out. Out of 6 transfers 3 was good and fast, no problem. Two out of the six transfers got to the point of where I had to ask where is my funds and it took more than 2 weeks to release my funds. This is still OK because queries do happen and systems are slow and for that we as clients are so forgiving and understand everything so well. The point is why must I ask, where is my money. Red Flag.
The last transfer, total disaster.
Now 40 days into the last transfer and my funds is still not in my account. Do I trust their system, NO. It takes 7 days to get an tracer answered with no real good answer, we have to wait, and the rest is a waiting game because the money is on hold with the corresponding bank. Imagine someone ripping your money out of your hand and stop your plans, your life for 40 days on going and there is nothing you can do about it. It is brutal because they don't care even if you die. On top of this waiting game, you don't earn interest on your funds. Surely your money in their account accumulate interest for them, is that not nice. The best is you can not even recall your money until they decide to release it, well that is what the agent makes me understand. Big RED FLAGS! Be careful.
I am stressed, upset, disappointed and don't have my money. How long must I wait without reasons. This is sad. How can we trust if the pro's can't get the job done. The system only allow so much and the rest they don't care about.

I am very disappointed, its not the first time transfer takes weeks, but this time they started to completely ignore my emails and simply do not respond.

Have used this company for many years and never had the problems we have seen in the last couple of transfers, we have found lately they take 3 to 7 days to transfer money from the UK to SA, as well as they now use Swift so my Bank Capitec have to call me that can take up to a week to release the transfer as well as pay a charge of R150. which in my mind is nonsense. Goodbye Exchange 4 Free, you will not see my business again.

I regularly transfer money from my Payoneer account to my ABSA account without any problems. Now suddenly this exchange4free who I've never heard of and have never dealt with intervenes and says I must complete their SARB form to complete this one transaction. Who are they to interfere. How do they suddenly come into the picture. Are they scammers. So I complete their online SARB with my correct ABSA account number and branch code. But keep receiving a return message that my account number and branch code are incorrect. That the numbers don't match. That's BS, they are correct and work with my Payoneer to ABSA transfers all the time except this one payment which they have exchange4free have blocked. They don't answer their phone number and the don't answer my emails. So where is my money now. Have I been scammed?

I have used X4F for 5 years and gave it a 5 star rating up until 4 months ago when transfers from the UK to SA suddenly took much longer to complete. Previously 24-48 hours now 3 to 4 days, not counting weekends. Not acceptable as I bring in a monthly pension and need a faster payment. Excuses offered are: receiving bank's fault or technical issues. Not good enough. Thanks for 5 good years but hubby and I will have to shop around for another provider.

Sorry but I have had a very good experience with them and I can confirm that it is NOT a scam. As long as you have your documents in order and you give the correct details to whose sending you money. It can be quite fast and efficient. Unfortunately we, who are receiving the money, don't have control over them since we are not their clients but our sender is, as told by one of their agents. But I don't mind if they continue to give a good service like what they did for me. Be careful of these so called scam reviews. Best to ask their payout partner first before making claims like that. Good job!

These guys are complete scammers, someone needs to report these guys and I have no clue how the Reserve Bank would let such a scam operate, it's mind-blowing how much of a joke these guys are.
