Michelle, Ryan and the whole team made taking out a policy very easy, almost a pleasure. I was particularly impressed with the way that FCC Paragon as an organisation retains relevant information so that subsequent discussions do not have to go over any already agreed issues.

FCC Paragon promises to make moving “smooth and stress-free.” Our experience proved the exact opposite.
As guarantors, we acted immediately — providing every requested document as soon as prompts were received. Instead of efficiency, we met delays, unanswered emails, and a concerning lack of urgency. One staff member, Molly, openly stated she “has six works to do” and could not deal with our paperwork while speaking to me on the phone. This dismissive attitude was not only unprofessional but directly caused further delays.
The impact was devastating: the prospective tenants were forced out of their current property when their tenancy ended, left without a new home — all because FCC Paragon failed to process matters promptly.
What’s most alarming is the gap between the service they advertise and the reality delivered. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for the consequences of delay make them unfit for handling something as critical as a home move.
FCC Paragon Limited failed on every level — turning what should have been a simple process into an avoidable crisis.

This has been the worst referencing experience I’ve ever encountered.
Despite my current landlord and employer providing references promptly on Monday, this company has failed to give any meaningful update or progress on my application. Even worse, they repeatedly contacted my employer, demanding unnecessary and intrusive details regarding my maternity leave; something that is entirely irrelevant and completely out of order.
Their conduct has been so overzealous and disorganised that I genuinely began to question their legitimacy. After looking them up, I was unsurprised to find alarming reviews that mirrored my experience.
I’m appalled that such an incompetent and unprofessional company is trusted to handle something as important as tenant vetting. Looking for accommodation as a family with young children is already stressful enough and referencing should not feel like punishment.
I fully intend to report them to Trading Standards, the Property Ombudsman, and the appropriate regulatory body (FCA or FCO) to leave a formal trail.
Seeing people’s experiences here, I urge others to do the same and leave honest reviews, so steps can be taken to address the serious flaws in how this company operates.

Have 2 rental properties, used Paragon once but never again, how can 1 property with £1000 month rent be more expensive to warranty than another charging 2k rent p.m? They are recommended by Beresfords estate agents yet cant say how much commission they pay them? Why the silence? V strange.

We applied to rent a property with my wife and our 11-month-old baby. Both of us are employed, tax-paying individuals. However, because my employer accidentally overpaid me by just £1 one month, the referencing company contacted my employer and even managed to speak with them to clarify.
Despite this, they approved my wife but told me I need to find a guarantor — all over a £1 discrepancy! Because of this, we are now unable to move into the property we planned for. The monthly rent is only 40% of our total income, which is well within standard affordability guidelines.
This company is unrealistic, excessively strict, and not suitable for handling genuine applicants. I strongly advise others to avoid them if you want a fair and reasonable rental process.

We have been working with Fcc Paragon on multiple properties and everything was expectedly great when you pay and don’t have issues with tenants and rental payments. After making a second year payment in one of the properties, tenant left a month later. When they left, they leave 1 month before the notice period and left us with a month rent payment in arrears. When I reached out to Fcc Paragon they explained that rent for missing monthly payments cannot be covered for cases where tenant vacates the property. I wasn’t aware of that but I understand that this is how it works in this policy. What is disappointing is that despite the only option of renewal is full year payment at the beginning of the year, they offer no refund if tenant leaves which means remainder of the year’s payment is gone wasted if you decide to sell the property or go ahead with guaranteed rent agencies. When I reach them to transfer the monetary value remaining to another property (as they have no refund option) I have with them, they refused this option. When they send a reminder to renew the policy, at the bottom of the mail somewhere, there is a link to terms and conditions where it says no refund if tenant leaves, but you only get the actual document after you make the full year payment. Really disappointed and will seek my rights with financial ombudsman… And of course will cease all existing policies with them when they are due renewal…

FCC make it easy to request client references and rent warranties. They offer a really good range of services. Their customer service is excellent and their staff and friendly and helpful

Dreadful customer service and complete lack of morals. Been with them for years, paid them for a whole years cover but tenant left after a month, they allow 2 months to find another tenant to keep the cover, it was 2 months and about 5 days and they wouldn’t honour it. So I paid for the whole year for one month cover. Any decent company would look after existing clients that have never made a claim. I understand it was just outside of the policy, but now they’ve lost another customer with 2 properties.
Further to your reply, you haven’t contacted me since the review was written, I wouldn’t want people to be mislead by your carefully worded response. You only called me to explain the outcome of my request as the person I spoke to was unable to make that decision himself. There has been no contact since the review.

Instead of the usual 2 to 4 days to process a tenant’s documents and establish a report, FCC Paragon took 2 full weeks! Plus, they breached the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 by reporting my annual income to the estate agent around £19,000 below the true amount!!!
That delayed my tenancy’s start and made the landlord ask for several months’ rent in advance, which could have damaged my savings and investments. I complained firmly and they finally rectified their serious mistake without any apology. They simply tried to deflect their legal and professional responsibility by pretending that the reference report, a crucial stage in being approved as a new tenant, is nothing but “a recommendation only”!!! I cornered them, then later they wrote me a very insincere “we apologise for ANY inconvenience”. I’ll tell you what, FCC Paragon, why don’t you try to apologise for Illegally subtracting around £19,000 from a tenant’s annual income, instead of pretending to be sorry for “any” inconvenience?
Estate agents: be aware of the significant reputational loss you can potentially have in condoning the shady actions of unreliable companies such as FCC Paragon. Tenants, our online reviews have power. Post facts about such firms’ malpractices to raise awareness. Also, feel confident in complaining, and (if needed) in escalating the matter to the ICO, the ombudsman, or any other relevant entity.

Ryan was helpful and explained what was necessary. He rang last week and promised to call back today to finalise things, for which he did. I have used FCC Paragon for a number of years and found them to be always on the ball.

The company representative was not professional and in his various emails requesting references there was bad grammar. spelling mistakes and demands for personal information. I don’t think this company is familiar with data protection act….or doesn’t care about it.
If they are charging respective tenants / landlords or anyone wanting references, their approach is shocking and I’d urge anyone seeking credit rating to NOT USE them.

ABSOLUTE TRASH LOT!! ASKING FOR THIS, THIS AND THIS. CALLING OUR BUSY COMPANY WHEN WE GAVE ALL THE INFORMATION THATS REQUIRED. GAVE THEM EMPLOYMENT DETAILS, RENT DETAILS, BANK STATEMENTS. OUR ADVISE, DONT TELL THEM YOURE A PRIVATE RENTING OR SELF-EMPLOYED, OTHERWISE THEY GO THROUGH BANK STATEMENT LIKE "Oh where's this money going, where's that going" NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS FFS
ENDED UP FAILING OUR REFERENCE.
By the way, don't take any notice from these positive reviews. They are all from landlords with money while us renters get the boot 👢

Zero stars if I could – utterly unprofessional and offensive experience
I had an extremely disappointing experience with FFC Paragon. I was told over the phone that an accountant’s reference would be acceptable for my application, yet this was later rejected with no reasonable explanation.
They also refused to accept redacted bank statements, even though the relevant payment references and amounts were clearly visible. As a registered business, I am legally and ethically obliged to protect my clients’ sensitive data, and I provided my ICO certificate to demonstrate this.
Despite this, I was met with disrespectful and slanderous comments from their staff — including suggestions that I “could be anyone” and that the money shown “could be coming from anywhere.” These comments were not only unfounded, but deeply offensive and unprofessional.
Going through a referencing process is stressful enough without being treated with suspicion and hostility. I’m genuinely shocked that landlords and agents continue to use a company that behaves this way.

The Letting Agent who manage our property use FCC Paragon for reference checks and they recommended them for landlords rent guarantee insurance. We have been with them for quite a few years now, renewal is always very easy and straightforward.
