I don’t understand why the paragon seal our reference just because the bank account was in minus few times. I did demonstrate that I payed the rent each month at the current address, not missing payments, and I can afford renting property. Now I just don’t have go to nowhere...

I made an account just so I can add to why paragon are so crap. Their forms are long and ask unnecessary questions, they call up employers and previous landlords incessantly to the point where it became embarrassing. The whole process took 1 to 2 months, and they bothered us the entire time during that process, calling non-stop during work hours even though we had already filled out their stupid forms. Such a waste of time.
We had a specific issue where we notified our future landlord and paragon that a previous landlord is uncommunicative and will most likely not respond, and would be happy to provide someone else's details. They wouldn't budge, and kept complaining that we had to get the landlord to fill in the form or else we'd fail referencing. ???? If paragon can explain how someone is supposed to do that, then please go ahead and do it yourself.
If I had known about paragon beforehand, I would have not gone through with the renting process, no matter how nice the place is. I'll be sure to check what the next agency is using as their referencing agency and avoid paragon.

Really rude people- all reviews are true, they ask my employer silly question that has no answers, even we were still eligible but they failed my file ...
pls estate agent stay away from them they will waste your time and your customers time as well...

ridiculous company asking marketing questions that have nothing to do with credit checks like who is your broadband provider.

Had to rearrange insurance for moving home. They organised everything I needed over the phone. They spoke clearly and in an understandable accent and arranged everything with excellent advice and were very prompt.

FCC Paragon was rude to us and their credit check was absolutely ridiculous. £14000 under what our mortgage advisor told us 1 month before which made us lose our holding deposit as well as leaving us homeless.
They started claiming we gave wrong information because we added our income before tax. It also asked the current salary. My partner had just been promoted meaning that his salary went up and they refused to accept this because he didn't have that salary before the application. I don't know how they calculated anything because it was well off the reality and we are now about to be homeless. Very disappointed by the references as well as the company that took their word even after they agreed that we were right

Would certainly not recommend to anyone . Not only innefficient their young lady lied about my details to the letting company.

FCC Paragon worked diligently to complete our tenancy referencing in the shortest time possible. We encountered several issues with providing information from external companies but were given clear help and advice. Very satisfied with the experience

We recently expressed interest in a property that used FCC Paragon as the referencing company. Upon reading the trust pilot reviews, we were worried about what the process would be like and feared we would have a horrible experience.

However, this couldn't be further from the truth. We worked with Holly George who was patient, polite and thorough.

My experience was smooth, with the only delays coming from my side. Even then, Holly proactvely ensured everything was in place for the references to move forwards/

If we wouldn't have put down the holding deposit already for the property, we would have backed out because of the referencing. Kept receiving calls everyday that my previous agency isn't in charge of the property and I need to provide contact details of my landlord. After couple of weeks it turns out they repeatedly called the wrong branch of my previous housing agency.
Needed to resend documents I provided initially, and overall stressful experience. Won't be using our current housing agency either in the future to avoid the referencing if we move. Had to provide a screenshot of my online banking showing my salary coming in, because bank statements and payslips just aren't enough. In the end we even considered just cutting our losses, lose the holding deposit, and find another place and be done with this.

My letting agent, unfortunately, used FCC Paragon and I had a terrible experience with them. I had to send them a huge amount of documentation, similar to applying for a mortgage. They sat on it for weeks. Eventually, a guy called me, asking for my landlord. He had called the wrong number from the forms I had filled in. He sounded like he didn't have a clue. Eventually, I got a message from my letting agent that the reference had failed because I had only been in my current work role a few months. In fact, it's years. The information was wrong. When I called Paragon, the guy was rude and refused to discuss it with me. I eventually convinced the agent to speak to them, resubmitted the information and passed the references. This was not before spending hours on the phone, and a lot of time in tears just a week before I was supposed to move. I panicked I would have nowhere to live. There was no apology. It was a distressing experience.

Stay away from FCC Paragon. If your property agent uses FCC Paragon for referencing, stay away. Unprofessional, wastes so much of time and have very little knowledge of the work they do. They call you and speak to you as you are a criminal and they are police. Keep asking to send documents again and again. Don't know how self employment works. very disappointed and you don't want to have headache just stay away from them.

This Company is a Joke, Very slow process , unprofessional staff, So many Documents to provide,They're asking for Documents which doesn't make any sens or Impossible to provide.

This is good for only the landlord and agency side.
asking unnecessary documents is making more difficult for the renters who could lose the holding deposit.
i couldnt say all the renters is good, but by doing that some landlords could lose some honest tenants as well.
credit history is just the history and someone like myself with ccj might have own reasons and the only important thing is to pay the rent on time and follow the agreement.
as for me self employed, it is too difficult to rent the property.
it would be better if there is strong contract, flexible referencing between landlord and tenants rather than credit history checking.
i dont think we can decide someone just to look papers and credit history.

i wish it would be more flexible terms between landlords and tenants in the future. otherwise tenants are the one losing the holding deposits and property agencies are profiting.

I’ve had such a terrible experience working with this company for referencing. The agent I worked with was very unprofessional, she would say she has all the information she needed and email me 2 days later requesting more information.

They asked for 3 months of bank statements, 3 months of paystubs, my offer letter, a reference letter, and my employers email. Also, they needed proof of my current address from a utility bill dated in the last 30 days. If I’m moving into a new flat from living with family how am I mean’t to provide this?

They were extremely tedious asking for all the addresses on my pay stubs, bank statements, application form, etc. to match the current address that I had to send in. They don’t accept that not everyone has the same lifestyle and might not have documents in the very specific way they want to receive it.

Once she reluctantly accepted my reference letter, she asked for 3 further revisions stating that it include the address of the office I work from or saying “work from home” in it. Also, although it said “full time employee”, she asked for another revision saying “permanent full time employee”. They are extremely tedious for no reason. This caused delays asking for my employer to revise the reference letter adding small one word additions.

After all this, she asked for an email from the person who wrote the reference letter even though we went this route because my employer doesn’t give out personal email addresses, also the person who signed off on the reference letter happened to be the CEO since HR has an automated process, so she wanted the CEO to email her.

On top of all of this, sometimes referencing lines are down from 12pm-4pm some days randomly, and nobody calls you back or replies to their emails.

I suggest if you are working with this company and are placed with Shelby Harrison, ask to speak directly to a manager. The manager, Megan, helped a lot with the case.

Absolutely horrible experience, the company is unprofessional and "48 hour" referencing checks turned into weeks of waiting around for them to answer and check their emails. The company asked for 6 months of payslips and bank statements, after which the same person told me that me sending them was a waste of my time because they're not going to check them anyway and need more unnecessary information from my employer. I never write reviews, but I believe this one is fully deserved after such horrible service and stressful experience which went back and forth for weeks. I honestly advise people to stay away from this company.
