I have always had a love hate with GW

I have always had a love hate with GW

But I have always loved the in-store experience when I was just a kid, they always made me feel so welcome and was always kind.

Customers service has always been helpful and whenever they messed up an order they fixed it fast and where polite about it. For example I ordered a box set but I came in Spanish, so I called them up and they sent one out quickly and said to keep the one I had as an apology. Can't ask for any better than that.

But the thing is that over the years they have gotten extremely money hungry and started throwing copyright and other legal stuff left right and centre.

You have a diehard fan base that create amazing artwork and fan films IMO much better stuff than Warhammer TV, yet you seam to ether try and control them or sue them.

I understand that you have a business to run, but come on. Even the price hikes are nuts.

Deres leveringshåndtering er elendig

Jeg bestilte nogle ting fra GW.com, og de siger 11 dages leveringstid .. ok. Sådan må det være. Årsagen til karakteren er leveringen. UPS prøvede at levere pakken, men tog den videre til en lokal kiosk fordi jeg ikke var hjemme. De efterlod ikke nogen besked om at de havde prøvet, men det er UPS's problem.

Mit issue med GW er at de ikke fortalte mig at pakken skulle være leveret, så den eneste årsag til at jeg opdagede det, var at jeg var utålmodig og fandt tracking nummeret på deres side, og brugte det til at følge pakken med UPS hver dag.

Order stuck at warehouse

My order was placed on 25/01. Since then, it has still not moved. I wrote to the support on February 3rd to get more information. They replied on 8 February that they had to open a ticket at their warehouse. As of this notice, no information, no movement of my order.
For a first order, this delay and lack of responsiveness is quite disappointing. What a customer wants is information and clearly Gamesworkshop does not give any.

Joke of a customer service.

Every time I've tried to buy something from their website, they always (always) manage to mess up the order, don't send it on time, there's always some sort of drama with UPS, or Royal Mail, or whatever. They never let you know, they never offer any sort of reason, just don't tell you until you notice it's been 15 days and send them an email.

The lastest was an order on the 29th of November, that after 15 days it hadn't arrived. I email, they say 'sorry' and ask if I want to have a replacement sent. I say yes. No reply. A day later I email again and turns out, suddenly, it's out of stock. No explanation, nothing. Their customer service is a joke, the company is a joke and they're too comfortable due to basically having a monopoly on selling the figurines.

Just go to the shop and get it in person or of off eBay.

Awesome experience

I do love the company, Leeds & Bradford shop staff are amazing. I dislike their business model and prices but their products are really good for all members of the family.

Myself and 3 children all 'do' Warhammer 40k and it's reduced Fortnite and console time considerably.

I would give 5 stars but for the price. Buy from other online shops.

Ordered a Warhammer starter set (Orks).

Website has a big array of items, an easy process for the customer.

Item was swiftly delivered, and as a customer I was well informed (order, tracking, delivery).

Fragile items well packaged, delivered - just perfect.

Will highly recommend for anyone!

Until they update their online experience. DONT BUY

Games Workshop does not care about their customer, even when they spend significant money on their overpriced products. The justification from the in-store team is that you are paying for the service. This is agreeable when in-store. The staff are dedicated, knowledgable and helpful. But online, they take a minimum of 4 days to reply and always have their (we are under heavy load auto reply on). The staff does not supply useful information and despite the day day turn around (which is very long for this day and age) The orders are often not even dispatched for 5-10 days after ordered and the shipping takes 2-4 weeks on average. GW start caring about your customer.

Really pleasant experience

I went into my local warhammer store on Friar Lane in Nottingham and was really impressed. Although there was only one colleague on the shop floor at the time, and the colleague was also helping a gent learn how to play by actually playing a game with them, he still found time to ask if I was OK and needed any help. The time I was in store was around 5 pm. Top notch store. I will definitely return.

Bei Vorbestellung lieber woanders bestellen

Habe etwas vorbestellt, und laut Mail würde es am Erscheinungstag geliefert werden.
Alle Drittanbieter haben das bereits verschickt nur Games workshop macht nichts.
Bestellt daher lieber die Drittanbietern, dort ist es günstiger und zuverlässiger

I once loved the hobby and the game

I once loved the hobby and the game, now Games Workshop has killed my love for the hobby. Their desire to copyright every single thing they create despite taking many of their inspirations and products from other sources was the first nail in the coffin. The ridiculous price hikes where the second and the final nail was the taking down of amazing fan created shows to profit from them themselves from and exclusive service using others creativity.

I will never ever go back to this company due to it's greedy, money grubbing practises and can't decide whether to sell what I have or simply burn it to prevent others having to pay anymore for these products.

I've mixed feelings about the GW…

I've mixed feelings about the GW product line. The "oldhammer" metal minis where in my opinion stellar - full of character & overall well sculpted, no flash at all, just a few sprue leftovers that where easily removed.

Then on to the 2006 and onward type of design with finecast... I had a box of 16 quarrelers/thunderers + a dwarf cannon. Of the regiment, I made 4 quarrelers & 12 thunderers to build upon current regiments.

The pros with the sprues is that they provide lots of opportunities for kitbashing. The cons of the sprues is that they're often designed in a way that some of the details of the models risk being damaged while removing them from the sprue. Many of the model parts are poorly cast, with lots of bubbles, warping, sprue lines, all of it. This makes assembly very time consuming, as you not only have to clean up the miniatures, you have to throw away some completely unusable parts & pick & choose among the leftovers which parts are the least damaged, and so on. It's a letdown and not at all a fun experience.

Furthermore, the models do not fit well at all when assembled, putting pressure on the buyer to use green stuff to cover up huge gaps. The design where models are split into front/back/arms instead of legs/torso/arms/head makes kitbashing and general cleanup much, much harder than it should be.

Many of the dwarf miniatures are also so poorly sculpted and lacking in detail that it becomes guesswork to see which is which among the parts. It also puts more strain on the ability of the painter, as they have to create much of the detail that the models themselves lack. I've never received a dwarf miniature from any other manufacturer where the beard looks like it is part of the clothing.

Looking at some of the newer models (not AoS, still talking WF) like the later Dark elf editions, many of the issues with older finecast models are resolved, but the front/back split of models still cause misalignment issues, and the placement of the parts within the sprues still risk damaging the detail of the models when the parts are removed.

Another downside is that the majority of regiment boxes contain parts to build one or another type of unit. This saves GW some production money, but it means collectors pay money for a lot of parts that they will never use, and it results in many different units having the same bodies or the same faces, which removes a lot of character from the army as a whole. They're kind of bland looking if you don't kitbash. I've never seen this with any other miniatures manufacturer, yet GW is supposed to be the biggest and the most successful.

It's the reason why my WF armies are about 75% oldhammer, 20% third party proxies, and 5% finecast models.

10 minute queue system, fighting other customers for boxsets

Staff at games workshop 5/5, billing team have helped me 5/5. I don’t want to write a negative review given my love of GW however...
my issue is this. Covid pandemic 2 years on, GW are making it harder for me to bring people into this hobby and now their purchase queue system is a real issue. The idea to queue up online for a product is just plane wrong, I am 100% against this as it makes me miss out on the boxset and I can’t browse the website.GW had issues with the indomnitus box set and to be fair during the pandemic they did a make to order for their box sets. However the beast snags boxset was sold out, pretty much unobtainable and look that’s it, it can never be got again. The new kill team 2 box sets will also be limited edition and the new HH is rumoured to be the same. I already know that with this queue system I won’t be able to get a box of this, GW for some reason don’t want to made to order versions As their business strategy they don’t want to produce more box sets. I believe their market strategy is driven by their share price like with Lego so they want to produce less to keep the hyper inflated demand going. I am giving you a negative review as you don’t want my money, you make your box sets unobtainable and you won’t listen to reason. I want new people to the hobby to read this review and understand the issues before investing in the hobby. I have good income and I spend a lot of money on your products, from GW to forge world however I am starting to feel somewhat betrayed. Your products are amazing but your business strategy is capping your player base, and not giving the consumer what they want. What you now have is a system where we fight each other for a boxset you choose to produce less of, with no way for people to obtain this. You made it shear luck to buy your boxsets using a broken system likes bricks and mortar shopping market queue and forcing people on a system where just by chance you can get your product. Shame on you.

Piety and Pain Boxset

High demand item - sold out instantly on initial release and was clearing out quickly in independent retailers. Games Workshop then announced they had additional stock that could be pre-ordered - adding the product to their store once again. It was at this point that I made my order, two weeks later they sent out an e-mail apologising for the delay but assuring that it would be sent out in good time. A month after ordering they sent out another e-mail saying sorry, they'd made up the fact they had stock and that they'd be refunding my order, by this point all stock with independent retails has naturally depleted.

Games Workshop sell all of the stock within this box separately and could have made customers making the orders right by offering them the combined products at the original price of the Piety and Pain box set but they don't care for customer service, they just want to turn as much profit as possible.

Their customer service teams just say there's nothing they can do.

Don't bother if you're living in the EU

After a month of waiting for my order, as it was postponed week after week, their customer service has the nerve to decline my request for a refund and tell me "it's on its way now, it will arrive next week".

They blame the delay on Brexit, but other UK-based retailers have somehow managed to deliver my parcels within a week, while Games Workshop apparently believes FIVE weeks is completely acceptable, as long as they give a weak apology and a vague promise.

Absolute disgrace of a company that treats their fans like dirt. I highly suggest you use third-party retailers such as Element Games instead of their garbage service.

Wenn ich zwischen GW und einem freiem…

Wenn ich zwischen GW und einem freiem Unternehmen, zwecks einer Bestellung, wählen kann, würde ich das freie Unternehmen bevorzugen. Ein Einkauf in einer Filiale von GW kommt nicht in Frage. Auch bei momentaner Covid19 Pandemie ist der Mail-Service inakzeptabel.
