Do not buy!! Dishwasher, fridge and microwave are all broken after two months and service techs make it impossible to schedule a repair so Warranty is useless
My appliances are only two months old! All not working properly and microwave sounds like it’s going to blow up
Monogram 36" gas cooktop
I have Monogram 36" cooktop. Servicemen seemed to be quite knowledgeable. I was doubtful of his integrity as I accepted his diagnosis,he said if he risked fixing the issue he could cause more damage. Frightened I paid the $125 fee and accepted his accessment which plaqued me for awhile as he never dismantle appliance. I later called non GE repairman was told what parts I needed switched out d' port ring until part could be obtained. He made attempt to address the gas flow which GE repair dismissed
Ge Range with un-True Temp
We have had a GE electric range JCB530SM2SS for about almost a year and the oven performance is very poor.
Making cookies is hit and miss as the oven temperature will wander around by about +/-30 degrees during use. GE's WEB site calls this temperature variation "normal".
With such a wide range in temperatures you can expect burnt cookie batches followed by raw batches. With luck a few come out fine.
Hard to believe this is considered acceptable by GE.
We now call it our un-True Temp oven.
I bought a ge washer dryer combo 2 1/2…
I bought a ge washer dryer combo 2 1/2 years ago. It's already cooked. The water pump and transmission went in the washer. It only has a 1 year warranty. I live alone so it doesn't even get used much. I will never buy a ge product again.
Outrageous repair time and cost
A burner on my GE oven/stove top was not working. I called GE Service and a person came out to see the problem. I was charged $151 for the service call and I need a new burner at a cost of almost $600. The wait time for the part is 4 months.
In summary, neither the wait time nor the cost are reasonable. I would NEVER buy another GE appliance again. That brand is on my blacklist.
Will never buy GE anything again
Will never buy GE anything again. My Refrigerator rquires a GE chip water filter. Those CHIP water filters will cost you nearly $60.00 from GE.
You do not have a choice for a generic. This is like HONDA telling you that you must buy HONDA chip embedded tires for your HONDA car, because other manufactured tires would not work.
VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
We wanted to purchase the GE 27-Inch 4.5 cu. ft. Electric Unitized Spacemaker Washer and 5.9 cu. ft. Dryer in Diamond Gray, ENERGY STAR®. A fabric softener dispenser is not listed in the washer dispenser description on the website. We want to ensure this is available on the washer. I sent a message through to GE asking them if there is a fabric softener dispenser on this unit. I included the entire name of the unit and the model number. They came back with another model number and said yes it is. I replied to the message and reiterated the model number. They replied asking me where I live, which is Canada. Then they told me to contact the Canadian branch for this information. We are talking a fabric softener dispenser. Are the washer units that are shipped to Canada made differently?? We are going with the LG stackables, no GE. And there will be no GE in any future appliance purchases. This was a ridiculous waste of time.
Fire Hazard
The machine caught fire and GE states it’s repairable!! This appliance is a fire hazard for me and my family!!
Monogram stove has been totally unreliable
We bought a GE Monogram gas stove in November 2019 and after four years we have had to replace virtually everything that could possibly break on the stove. Stove top igniters, oven igniter, the probe malfunctioned, the heat control stopped working and now the broiler is broken and the oven heats to the desired temperature but can't hold the temp. It routinely falls by as much as 50 degrees making baking anything almost impossible.
I contacted the GE Customer Satisfaction Manager - there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. I asked if they would consider either replacing the stove because of all that's gone wrong with it, or at the very least, send a technician at GE's expense to assess the stove and fix what's now wrong with it. Her responses to me we predictably company-speak, the stove is too old to replace, send us the technician's estimate. I responded that I wasn't willing to waste any more money on the stove and asked that they send one of their techs at their expense. Each time she responded it was 10 days or so, insulting enough, but her final response was that the stove was too old for them to pay for a tech. Four years is too old! Come on, 6 or 8 I could understand, but not four. If you can't expect an appliance to last four years that's pathetic.
We purchased a GE Profile oven range…
We purchased a GE Profile oven range and we have been having problems since, now that the 1 year warranty is finished they don't want to fix the problem. We had the oven for a year and 4 months. Don't buy GE appliances
I purchased my washer and dryer a month…
I purchased my washer and dryer a month ago. The dryer is not drying the clothing completely. The washer is not washing. The second week after delivery the service tech replaced the board. The unit worked for a week and then stopped working again. Another service tech came by, and he had to order many parts. I called GE customer service and they said I do not qualify for a replacement unit. This is a garbage unit and poor customer service
Known defective part & atrocious service - did nothing to make things right
Defective part with known issues caused my dishwasher to flood my lower level (within 3 years of purchase). I couldn't locate model # because GE used water-soluble inks on a dishwasher door that runs using water.
Finally discerned the model number, called to order the part, was given a confirmation number and told it would arrive in 3-5 days. A week later I called and was told the order was canceled and I WASN'T NOTIFIED.
Now I'm trying to reorder the part, was told they cannot discount the part OR send it expedited free of charge even though it was their error (and the part is $7!) Now I have a dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen for yet another week.
Customer service people were okay, but they have ZERO leverage to actually try to make right any wrongs caused by faulty craftsmanship or untested/undertested parts. They can't send parts, they can't offer discounts, they can't waive shipping, and apparently can't speak to managers or people who care enough to try to keep customers.
Oh--did I mention the crap I got from the person I emailed trying to get information on discerning the model number since it was washed off? The 'talk to the hand' palm was almost visible in front of my face, I could feel the reverberations of the cold 'go the f* away, you mean nothing' shrug.
One or two hiccups, okay, I can move past that. But every single interaction was mediocre at best, and usually awful.
So out of 134 reviews on Trustpilot
So out of 134 reviews on Trustpilot, GE has a 1-STAR rating. Out of 1044 reviews with the BBB they still have a 1-STAR rating. If I could give them a minus review, I would.
I purchased a GE fridge 18 months ago. They delivered a damaged fridge 4 TIMES before I actually got a fridge that was acceptable, oh and NO that was not a misprint. My new fridge broke down 2 weeks ago, I had two appliance repair people look who BOTH said it was the compressor which has a longer warranty with GE than the normal year warranty. I called GE they could not get anyone out for 10 days!!!! I asked them to please bring the compressor with them as we knew that was the part needed and I didn’t want to be left without a fridge for more time. For some peculiar, unhelpful reason they said it was not possible to order the part until they were sure that is what was needed. You are GE FOR GOODNESS SAKE, it is not like they had to order from a third-party company. It has now been over two weeks without a fridge, I called today to confirm the appointment (as they are so disorganized, I wanted to make sure) and the wait time is 30 minutes. Their annoying automatic answer system did not understand my answers and eventually just cut me off. Not only is their product not fit for purpose, GE’s customer service is atrocious. This is an Airbnb and I cannot rent the property until I get a working fridge. If I had known they were going to be so dreadful I would have purchased a new fridge and kept my bookings, it would have been MUCH cheaper.
GE clearly does not care and has total disrespect for its customers.
Do NOT buy a GE Cafe induction stove!
I am very disappointed in my GE Cafe 30in. induction stove! I purchase it in May 2022, and the cooktop has stopped working completely! I called for service and the tech came out rather quickly to diagnose the problem - a control panel and an element. $611.59 and $106.80 for parts! How can a stove go so bad after one year and six months? After waiting for two missed appointments ( and the service provider did not even call me) I learned today that the part is on back order and won't be available until Feb 12th. How can such a large company not have parts available for their recent product lines? I will be without a stove for two months and out $1200 after paying for labor and the service call. I wish I had never purchased this unreliable product.
Poor Service & Low Quality Appliance - GE Cafe Built In Refrigerator
I contacted Assurant on 10/28/2023 as the refrigerator was making a very loud grinding sound. The GE Service Technician identified a problem with the refrigerator gasket which was causing moist, ambient air to circulate throughout the unit and freeze. This ice was causing the loud sound. He ordered a replacement gasket which he subsequently installed mid-November.
The loud, grinding sound worsened and the GE Service Technician returned on 12/18/23. He indicated the new gasket pulled away from the door frame causing the same issue as reported on 10/28, so he re-affixed the gasket.
The next day, 12/19/2023, the refrigerator stopped working altogether. Both the freezer and refrigerator were warm and all the frozen food thawed. I contacted Assurant to have the technician return as soon as possible, as he serviced the refrigerator less than 24 hours prior. However, I was notified that, due to a booked schedule, the technician wouldn’t be able to return until 12/26/2023, the day after Christmas. I explained to the representative that since we are a family of 9, and that we had a refrigerator full of holiday food, that a 12/26 return date was unacceptable. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor. She indicated that Assurant does not have the power to expedite service as they use the GE Appliance Repair calendar. She recommended that the appointment be made for 12/26 and that I contact GE directly to see if they could expedite. I also asked about the food that was going to spoil in my freezer as it would not last unfrozen for a week until the holiday. She indicated I would have to wait until the technician arrives to make a spoiled food claim. I then contacted GE directly on 12/19/2023 and they were unable to change the appointment to an earlier date despite my unique predicament.
The technician returned on 12/26/2023, removed the ice tray and access panel behind, and showed us that ice had formed on the fan which caused the loud noises and subsequent stoppage. This circulator / condenser fan was responsible for circulating the cold air throughout the refrigerator and, since it stopped working, so did the fridge. He said we would need to thaw the fridge for a minimum of 24 hours in order for the ice to melt and the fan to resume working. We turned off the power to the refrigerator and left the doors open as he indicated.
On 12/27/2023, we restarted the refrigerator in the afternoon (greater than 24 hours of thawing.) I checked the unit after approximately 3 hours of run-time but both the refrigerator and freezer were warm. I also did not hear the fan circulating. So, I again contacted Assurant and explained the entire predicament again. Despite the continued issue and not having a working refrigerator for 9 days at that point, the next available appointment would be on 12/29/2023 from 12pm - 5pm. I accepted this appointment, turned off the refrigerator again, and left the doors open. The representative also confirmed a $300 food spoilage award was approved and to be mailed out to me, despite my loss being well over $1,000.
At approximately 5:45pm on Friday, 12/29, I contacted Assurant to see where the technician was as he did not show within the allotted time frame. After some time to research, the representative apologized that I was not informed, but the appointment had to be rescheduled for Wednesday, 1/3/24. I explained how this was unacceptable given my history and current circumstance but there was nothing that could be done.
I then contacted GE Appliance Repair who indicated that I should call them back on Tuesday, 1/2/24 and speak with Consumer Relations who may be able to assist. They were gone for the long holiday weekend and wouldn’t be available again until 1/2/24.
I am extremely disappointed with both my refrigerator and the level of service I have received. The unit cost over $10,000 and has been in my home for less than 2 years, servicing my family of 9. We did not have a refrigerator or freezer through the holidays and received no priority treatment from customer service or appliance repair. As of the date of this letter, we have not had an operable refrigerator for 11 days with the repair technician due to arrive on day 15 if not to be rescheduled again. I also assume that a part will need to be ordered to make the necessary repair which will cause further delays.
Follow-up post regarding my GE Steam Clean Oven
I am updating my previous "experience" (below) referencing the non-functional steam clean option on my new GE oven and the 3 resulting useless repair appointments.
What I find discouraging is that except for 1 note here that I read after my posting, there were no praises for GE repair services. WHY is this acceptable to GE? Do they care at all...or perhaps they prefer to look the other way? All I know is that some action on the part of GE is not only appropriate, but essential on their part to enable them to keep their "good" name! Contacting the BBB is essentially useless (they give outstanding ratings to any company as long as there have been no complaints filed, if I understand their rating system correctly). What good is that?!?
The appliance service company that GE sent to my home (and had done nothing to remediate the problem after 3 scheduled appointments) is obviously not competent or they just don't want to bother to do the work. This makes me incredibly angry. Gee...maybe they will get an outstanding BBB rating too?
Is there any hope for us "little guys" or do we have to continue to accept mediocre (if any) repair service and appliances of questionable quality from GE?
C'mon, ladies and gentlemen. Isn't it time for you to "step up to the plate" and provide reliable service; especially for "in-warranty" purchases? Management, Board of Directors, Service Managers...where ARE you!?
MICROWAVE W/ AIR FRYER BUYER BEWARE
I bought the GE microwave with "AIR FRYER" 3 weeks ago for $709.00. The air fryer does not work. It's more of a convection oven. I've had repair men come to my home twice now and I've compared the GE air fryer with my counter top Instant Pot and there is absolutely no comparison!!!! The GE air fryer just doesn't do what it is described to do. I've called and called and it seems that everyone is on script and not willing to help me at all. My two issues are (1) The extra money spent for this feature and (2) We really wanted the air fryer feature to work. This appliance is a complete scam and consumers need to be aware!!!
I've been trying to fix my gas dryer…
I've been trying to fix my gas dryer since October they keep trying to fix everything and it doesn't work.. I'm over it and will never again get a ge appliance. Hopefully after the 5th call! They will give me a new unit.
Warning From a Designer: Save Your Time! Save Your Money!
I do not usually write negative reviews because I prefer to approach life with a positive outlook. However, as an interior designer, I feel it's important to warn others that GE Appliances' Cafe line is aesthetically pleasing but highly unreliable. Despite their one-year warranty covering service and parts, the frequency at which their appliances break down is unacceptable. One of my clients has been experiencing issues with their Cafe French Door Freezer for the past six months, despite it being less than a year old. The freezer has defrosted multiple times, which has caused the ice maker and water dispenser to stop working. Every time a GE technician would come to diagnose the problem, they would order parts and return two weeks later to fix it. And then, within a month, the freezer would break down again. According to GE's policy, if an appliance has been fully serviced/repaired four times, it will be deemed non-repairable and replaced with a new unit. A full-service repair is when a technician conducts a diagnostic check and then repairs the appliance. However, in this case, GE has sent technicians to my client's home several times too many for those diagnostic checks and completed at least four required full-service calls, including replacing crucial parts like freezer freon.
To provide some context, the freezer unit is less than a year old and has broken down for the fifth time after its fourth completed service repair by a GE technician just two weeks ago. When I scheduled the fourth repair for the end of November, the customer service representative extended our warranty for another nine months. She explained that given the rate of breakdowns, the freezer was likely to break again soon, so she wanted to ensure that we had no problems getting a full replacement when that happened. Unfortunately, now that the freezer has broken down for the fifth time in less than a year, GE has denied a replacement after dozens of calls and several hours on the phone with their service department and customer relations. This is unacceptable. GE Appliances must be held accountable for their lack of product reliability and customer service. If you are considering purchasing from GE, save yourself time and money. The Cafe appliance line may look good, but it's not worth it!
They actually call it "service"
My GE top freezer refrigerator is not cooling properly. I have tried to schedule an appointment online, because reaching someone is apparently not an option. I get this message on the website. "Uh-oh. Our site is experiencing temporary issues. We cannot process your request at this point. Please call 1-800-GE-CARES (432-2737) and we can help" I was told wait time would be 30 minutes. So while I was on hold I tried to use the chat feature of the website. It told me wait time was estimated at 11 minutes. After 15 minutes I got down to being told I was number 3 in line. Then it demanded I type some sort of response, or it would close the chat box--all the while not allowing me to type in the response box. And as promised, it ended my chat attempt. I tried again; again I was told wait was 11 minutes; it wasn't. It was 17 minutes. Using chat I was able to receive a commitment that I would hear from their contracted servicer within 24 hours to set an actual appointment. Call wait time was estimated at 30 minutes when I requested to speak to a rep. I'm now at 1 hour and 10 minutes in without speaking to a rep. I'm gonna give up reaching a live human voice. I'm sure that the one person taking calls is feeling overwhelmed by now.
Update: The service tech showed up when scheduled. Stated the problem was probably in the circuit board. He removed it, looked it over, and popped it back in. And the refrigerator immediately began to work properly. After explaining that sometimes the boards need a reboot like my personal computer, he gave me his cell phone number and said to call him directly if it did it again. It's been over a week and things are still good. I wonder if I could have fixed it myself by simply unplugging the fridge for a minute or 2 and then plugging it back in. Next time I'll try that first.
