Appalling customer service if you have…

Appalling customer service if you have any issues. Unhelpful abrupt advisor who has no idea how to speak and deal with customers and needs serious retraining. Would be the last place I would recommend for a funeral pity my dad had a policy with golden charter

Unfortunately we needed to cancel our funeral plans (arranged about 10 years ago!), due to physical struggles and not waiting till we die as not classed as terminally as no quality of life, so off to Switzerland for dying with dignity. Wow so efficient company, spoke with Charlene, no quibble refunded within a couple of days. So much appreciate thank you and your team.

When I contacted this company, they were TOTALLY professional throughout!

When I contacted this company, I was answered by, Mariama! She was extremely professional and friendly, and helpful! She offered to send out information to me, and this duly arrived! However, she had already issued an email with all of the information that I required. It was for myself, so my wife and I read it through, and agreed, that this WAS for me! She called me back yesterday as she had promised, and I ostensibly agreed to take their services on the spot! Mariama was totally professional throughout the call, I couldn’t praise, or indeed, recommend her highly enough!

Changed my plan with absolutely no hassle.

Having taken out a plan several years ago prior to my retirement, many things have changed. I contacted them to change the plan to a direct cremation, John was very understanding and explained what they could offer. Within days my bank account received the difference as promised. The service Golden Charter offers is excellent with full explanation of the service.

funeral plan does not pay for the cremation

As an executor of my mum. I'm here to share with other families. My mum took out a cremation funeral plan 2014. It turns out the actual cremation is not covered in the funeral plan. Emailing this company gives no response.

From a customer service view, more than an hour to not answer a call is not acceptable.
No human contact from the 2 emails sent.

Finally, my call is answered.
I am not permitted to speak directly to the complaints team.
Laura (from GC) will locate my email complaint and forward it to their complaints team for review.

I believe our customer resolution team has now responded to the concerns you have raised.

Your mum purchased our Base plan. This funeral plan only included funeral director’s services and did not include an allowance towards any third party services, such as crematorium costs.

The additional information held on your mum’s funeral plan record confirms this, advising that the “family will pay for third party costs at the time of need”. This was also noted on the application form signed by your mum.

We are very sorry that our call wait times were so long when you called. We have been experiencing a higher volume of calls than expected recently and are doing our best to ensure we can answer calls more quickly.

Extremely poor service in a sensititive situation

Extremely poor service in a sensitive situation. Despite submitting all completed forms over two months ago, no payment has been received, causing unnecessary stress at a difficult time. Communication is slow, wait times are long, and the process shows little care or efficiency. Not recommended.

Mariama assisted me today with setting…

Mariama assisted me today with setting up a funeral plan for my Dad. She was very helpful and explained everything thoroughly. We even got some M&S vouchers as my Mum referred us! Very easy to set up. I can highly recommend this company . Thank you Mariama for your help

Fantastic service thank you Lorraine

Lorraine Percy has been fantastic helping me get this arranged.
I had a few questions as I am only in my 30's however I feel this is the right time to take out a funeral plan.
She was understanding and re-arranged calls where needed. She contacted me when she said she would.
She has explained everything in detail and gave me information I hadn't even considered.

Paul dougan
sorted the funeral plan out for my sister in law,
at a price far better than the local funeral director could offer, with more included, even though it will be done by the local funeral director.
Paul even sorted out my partner and my plans that I took out years ago and sending me revised documents, and then gave us two £60 gift vouchers for suggesting a friend, very good experience

She was very helpful and freindly
And explained very clearly what they offered anrd what we had to do
I would recommend golden charter
And will do at last we have peace of mind an d can get on with our lives

Purchased two direct cremation plans

Rang Golden Charter today to purchase two direct cremation plans for myself and my husband. We spoke to Paul who guided us through the process with both professionalism and friendliness. He made sure we understood exactly what was included in the plan and how to make any changes should we need to. Thank you Paul.

Question over arrangement fee.

When first dealing with Golden Charter on behalf of our mother, all seemed well but went downhill from then. Unfortunately they were not totally upfront about their arrangement fee. Feel we were misinformed. No mention of additional fee on printed paperwork. Subsequently we cancelled. Would not use funeral plans in the future

Third plan with Golden Charter

I spoke to Lynne earlier today and she was very helpful. Everything was explained thoroughly and clearly. I would recommend her and Golden Charter without hesitation. My in-laws both had Goldrn Charter plans and it made things a lot easier when the time came to use it.

Unable to contact company

Had a plan for my mum. She passed and I was unable to get through to the company. VERY long hold times. Eventually I got through and they were apologetic (how about hiring more people?!) and helpful.

Quick enough to take our money

Quick enough to take our money, but terrible customer service. I have contacted them twice via the contact form on the website. Got standard response, saying someone will be in touch soon. Not heard anything from them. If you want to get a plan from them make sure you don’t want to change anything.
