A complete waste of money with little return

I definitely got "had" in buying the VIP member ship. An expensive waste of money and I am sad that GH as a long standing magazine have fooled people with this . I have paid £149 for basically 12 magazines, the odd "free" online book , almost impossible to find, a chance of being a tester which I was getting for free before and a free ticket to an annual promotional show. I understood there would be some free gift not specified, i have never seen this.I wish i had read the reviews before joining as this is the biggest con going.I will also add that despite being told on email they will refund the remaining part of the subscription, this is a lie . I have had a very frustrating call to Hearst magazines(after 3 emails were not responded to in the way i wanted to cancel) , and it was like trying to leave a mobile network.All I got offered was other deals .I only wanted a REFUND. This sub is the biggest con going. Please save your money And if you want a number to ring (as all GH number are on a loop and do not work) try 01858 438 796 . You won't get anywhere but at least the call is answered. I will be now going to the IPSO who deal with magazine complaints

Never will I ever subscribe to a…

Never will I ever subscribe to a magazine again. So hard to stop! And so so expensive. £29 for 6 issues - and all aimed and women with far more money than me.
Don't rate at all.

Good Bye Bad Housekeeping!

I got an email promoting the Good Housekeeping (emailed) newsletter and it had a top that I was interested in so I decided to sign up for the newsletter. A short time later I got an email / newsletter so I opened it. What a scam!!! I signed up an account and then when I signed in the stories were blurred out because now I was required to "Join" which required an annual fee. If I wanted to read the Good Housekeeping magazine I would order a subscription or purchase the magazine at the store! What the heck is the purpose of a Newsletter if you can't even open and read it? I will not even purchase the magazine at the store now cuz they are obviously so money hungry that they can't even allow a person to read a newsletter without paying. Good Bye Bad Housekeeping!!!

I’m giving them a higher review than…

I’m giving them a higher review than they deserve. Bought two of their towel sets and after washing them once their threads were coming apart on every towel. I will never buy Good House Keeping products again and would recommend neither do you!

4 of 5 humidifiers they rate best could not humidify a 160 SQ FT room, based on water consumption over time.

First, they start out with the wrong premise. The propose of a humidifier must be to make your homes relative humidity what would be considered healthy other why humify at all? I quote them "According to the brand, it can run for up to 60 hours on one tank of water set to the lowest mist level, meaning you don’t need to refill it every day." My apartment is 160 SQ FT and it takes 3 gallons of water to keep it at 40% (RH). They include, " Not only does it feature a space-saving, stylish design, but its shockingly quiet operation might make you forget you’re running a humidifier in the first place" all show no go ! Please note I am rating their performance in rating these humidifiers as best of and if they were honest they would say buy the Vornado Evap40 Evaporative Humidifier forget the rest !

Poor Judgment in Review

GHI published an article "9 best steam generator irons to buy 2024 UK" last updated 27th November 2023. In the article they awarded the £600 "Philips PerfectCare Elite Plus GC9682/86" iron first place with 95/100. For comparison they awarded the "Philips PerfectCare 6000 Series Steam Generator Iron PSG6064/86" for £260 3rd place with 88/100. Having had the chance to try both, these irons are of the same performance and except for styling and some exceedingly minor ergonomic differences, they are the same iron. One metric differs in the manufacturer's spec sheet - the more expensive iron can produce "up to" an extra 10% or so of steam on the highest burst mode - this level of difference in this rarely used feature of the iron is not distinguishable by users of the two products. So we have two irons that are to all intents and purposes, the same product. They suffer from the same chintzy cheap plastic manufacture - the securing latch button for the iron body is extremely loose fitting when in the released position for example. I find the fact that 2 almost entirely identical irons, except for a £330 price difference, are awarded 1st and 3rd place to the most expensive first and the cheaper (at less than half the price) getting 3rd place, absolutely inexplicable. The judgment of these professional judges is suspect.

Good Housekeeping Magazine extending subscriptions with no authority

Took out 6 month subscription for mother in law for Christmas. Didn't know she already had a 12 month subscription purchased in October 23 by someone else. Trying to cancel, but Good Housekeeping 'helpfully' added the new 6 month subscription onto the end of her current 12 month one and now won't cancel without authority from the orginal purchaser of the 12 month subscription, even though this person didn't authorise the additional 6 months. Surely this is fraudulent as the original purchaser only authorised 12 month subscription not 18 months. They also advise that the 6 month one I purchased hasn't been set up yet but will start in May 2025 so they have actually added an extra 2 x six month subscriptions on, with only authority for one. Very poor customer service, won't use them again and still trying to get the extra subscriptions cancelled for my 90 year old mother in law......
UPDATE - Apology now received and all auto renewals, both authorised and unauthorised, now cancelled.

Never Subscribed but Unable to Block

For absolutely no reason I started receiving E-Mails from this annoying Company. I didn't subscribe, join, ask or Contact them! It all suddenly came out of the Blue as it were.
I am NOT interested in ANYTHING they could possibly tell me. Receiving approximately 4 - 6 mails a day. I have marked 'Goodhouskeeping' as "JUNK" so they end up in the 'Junk' folder for 30 days before being wiped, only to gradually fill the Junk folder up again.
There appears to be no way of Blocking them for some reason even though they are a pain in the Butt. I find them an absolute, total and complete Nuisance to say the least - I suggest that people have absolutely nothing to do with them they have NOTHING I would be even remotely interested in, let alone their continued rubbish mailings.

Terrible recipe

Followed a Good Housekeeping lasagne recipe. Absolutely hopeless. Have followed many different sites’ cooking reviews with success but Good Housekeeping was terrible, it actually ruined my dish. Utterly useless

Rent their customer info to other organizations

I wanted access to locked articles and paid for their subscription of the physical magazine because there was no option for just the online content. Shortly after that I started receiving sooo much mail from charities asking for donations (the mail had my full name and address). I found out that GH rents their users info to other organizations. I did not consent to this. Be aware if you give them your information that they will rent it out to whoever pays!

I paid my one year Goodhousepeeing…

I paid my one year Goodhousepeeing subscription on line on August 8 in the amount of $19.97. I check my bank account a couple days later and found that Hearst Magazine (the party that collects payments for Goodhousekeeping) has charged my credit card four times in the amount of $19.97. My bank is reversing the charges and opening up an investigation for the fraudulent charges. So don't trust this Company.

I have always trusted the reviews…

I have always trusted the reviews posted on Good Housekeeping to be honest. I have never been disappointed and now I am happy to be part of their product tester group, anxiously awaiting my first opportunity to add to their time-honored tradition of providing fair and accurate information.

They get paid to write good reviews

They have a page for “the best flower deliver companies” and let me just say, what they’ve listed as number one has the single worst reviews any where online. They clearly get paid to say poor companies are good in the hopes to pry a bit of change from the average consumer
