I worked at greendale for 16 months
I worked at greendale for 16 months, allot of the staff in my department were antisocial, it can be toxic, in my department they had an unofficial no dating policy wether its amongst staff or outside of work and if you do you have to leave. The food is ok but they never change the speacials. I would avoid working for them unless nessacary!
Terrible experience today
Terrible experience today. We booked a table for 1pm to be sat outside in a very windy part with a baby. We weren’t advised it would be an outside table. On asking if we could move (to another outside table where there was no wind and was warm enough for a baby) to be told no, it was booked - there was no reserved sign on the table, whereas there were on other actually reserved tables.
All in all, the staff didn’t much care and there were lots of empty tables available, all without reservation signs and others with reservation signs. As a result we left and went elsewhere where our custom was appreciated.
Long wait on a cold day, for average food.
Went to Greendale this morning after New Year’s Day park run. Booked a table for 2 at 11am, arrived early at 10.45 and were given a table in the outside covered area.
It was very cold and after a while we were able to get some blankets as we had to wait for people to leave. Our order was taken quickly by a polite waitress and our coffees arrived promptly. Breakfast unfortunately did not arrive after 30 mins and we had to prompt another member of staff who assured us this was next on the pass. It turned up close to 50 mins after us being seated. There was no apology for the delay and the second coffees we ordered to keep warm were not offered free as an apology.
All the tables suffered the same waits with people asking and the same response ( yours is next on the pass.).
The breakfast was okay but quickly went cold due to the dining environment. The outdoor dining area was so cold it didn’t make for an enjoyable experience and everyone had to keep their hats and coats on. The heating is not enough for a cold day.
The giant breakfast was okay but at £17.50 I
It was a premium price and not worth such a long wait.
Visited Greendale today
Visited Greendale today, lots of Christmas goodies attractively displayed. Sadly the fish and chips we had were a big letdown, the fish was quite small but edible. However the chips were dried up and clearly been reheated and I suspect were frozen chips. Perhaps we were just unlucky and went in at the wrong time.☹️
Missing food
Have always loved the fish and chips, But tonight we decided to have them and get them delivered. They turned up not very warm. One meal was missing and then the pigs in blankets which was part of the specials menu were missing. I phoned to say what had happened. And was told I could get the missing order delivered or my money back on missing meal. Decided to get the meal delivered and was told they would give us the meal, missing pigs in blankets and some extra for the inconvenience. Had to wait over an hour for food to turn up. And when it did we were not given any extra pigs in blankets.!! We have been told if we order the same meals again we will get them for free. But I’m not sure how this will happen as haven’t been given a code or anything written in an email .
Pretty awful !
Pretty awful !
Very noisy, frozen cakes defrosted not home made, cold coffee poor farm shop just like a regular supermarket.
Adults cod and chips
Adults cod and chips! I had to complain about the size of my cod and they did apologise and replace the cod but only to have another small piece of fish! Chips good but again such a small portion and at £12.25 I was very disappointed.. long wait with no seating!
Thank you Cieran
My wife and I visited the restaurant at Greendaje three weeks ago, they were so busy and we hadn’t booked; then Cieran who was in charge that morning managed to fit us in. Cieran made sure we were seated and served promptly. The food was excellent as was the service, which was all made possible by Cieran‘s can do attitude.
Thank you
Restaurant average
The venue and location is good.
I met friends on this occasion and the lunch was ok. The prices have gone up and portion sizes small. The fishcakes were small on a small bed of salad.
Service was good as it was a weekday and not busy. The meals are not great value for money. Washroom facilities are good.
I really like the shop but …..
I really like the shop and have used it for years. Today I decided to have a coffee- Americano £3.40 with cold oat milk. When I went to pay I was charged 75p for the oat milk. I felt ripped off. Nowhere have I been charged that much for oat milk. It’s not a huge sum, but who likes being ripped off even for relatively small amounts.
Service was poor and paying a chore.
Service was poor and paying a chore. Table service is the norm, and the waiter was polite but obviously forgot to enter our requests, so 20 minutes later a second one came along and asked if we wanted to order something! We did, and the wait was reasonable. The tea, coffee and tea cakes were good but the butter was minimal and like a rock. OK, it was busy but that is not unusual here. Paying was poorly managed, there being a large queue at the cash desk; pay-at-table was not available, even though there appeared to be portable card machines around; I saw a group leave the queue and walk out. This experience was not bad enough to put us off visiting again, but staff need to be aware and initiate appropriate action where and obvious issue is building.
Very poor dining experience
Love the shopping area and the butchers meats are superb. A pity the dining experience is poor. I should have learnt by now not to have anything with chips. They are always soggy and often cold. They are cold because the chips are collected from the fish & Chip bar in the store by tray and taken to the kitchen serving the dining area where your meal might not be ready to go out!! We were also charged for two meals that was not part of our order (£19.50 over). The whole dining experience was chaotic.
First car wouldn't start, flat battery, second was manual not automatic. Careless
Booked appointment for 2 cars to test.
Obviously double booked.
Given key and plates to take for a drive. Told it had been started earlier.
Flat battery wouldn't start .
Handed back key, asked about other car , given key but was wrong car .
Dealing with another customer,we were not given any service whatsoever.
I said we would return after lunch.
Received a call at 1.15 asking if we were coming back,as they were closing.
Sales person was friendly enough.but we were extremely disappointed with the lack of knowledge of the vehicle's and treatment.
We were looking to purchase a £25k car , if they treat customers like that trying to buy a car I can't think what it would be like if there's a problem.
Not what you would expect.

Fish and Chips
Had gurnard and chips, haddock and chips with mushy peas, fish was dry, batter thick and soggy, chips were cooked, and double cooked and triple cooked,,
Will not be going again for fish and chips!
Disappointing visit
Well stocked meat counter . I have been visiting Greendale for some years coming from Wales I looked forward to seeing the well stocked fish counter and fish and chips in the cafe. Both of these devices have unfortunately deteriorated , the fish counter is not as comprehensive with emphasis on pre packe goods with extended shelf life. I found the fish and chips in the cafe below usual standard with the fish over cooked and batter to thick . I think you may be getting to big Greedale your standards in my opinion are not what they used to be.
And I thought Greendale was child friendly
I was looking after a 2 year old & thought a trip to Greendale would be a treat. After walking around the farm animals all of which were understandably dosing in beautiful sunshine instead of being 'interesting' we visited the cafe for mid morning drinks & snacks. The baby buggy was full of shopping & toddler necessities & the 2 year old was on my hip. I am very obviously a pensioner & I was struggling somewhat. I asked for a suitable table & with a grunt was shown into the conservatory & a table next to a heater with an attractive flame. I asked for a high chair & an arm pointed to the other end of the conservatory. When I said we were moving to the next table away from heat source I received 'a look'.
No help to get the high chair was offered so I struggled to fetch one. As I walked back, the full length of the conservatory, toddler on one side, high chair on the other three waiting staff stood watching. Not one offered any help. I asked for the children's menu & was told "no children's breakfasts". Not one member of staff was pleasant, not one smiled & they hardly spoke. What was supposed to be an enjoyable experience for me & toddler just wasn't.
Disappointing visit to cafe...
After an appointment in Exeter we decided to go to Greendales for a look round the shop and some lunch.
Parking was OK. Look round the shop was good, bought some nice fresh produce.
Lunch: managed to get a table for 2. Looked at menu and chose our lunch.
Omelette not available as it's been taken off the lunch menu and is now only breakfast menu.
Chose crab sandwich, with no butter, no salad, and side bowl of chips.
Arrived with salad and crisps.
Ordered sweet: rocky road. Fruit scone with butter jam & cream.
Arrived scone and jam.
Had to ask for cream & butter.
Ordered another pot of tea.
Arrived with cup and saucer, teapot and milk. Took away empty cup & saucer but left empty teapot and milk on table.
Staff serving were slow, not engaging with the surroundings or the customers. Very lax in their attention and at times appeared to not want to be there.
Food to eat was OK but the lack of attention to detail such as specific order of food and food coming with half of it missing was frustrating.
Disappointing visit. Staff training needed. £60 in the shop then £45 for light lunch is not cheap but when detail is lacking it is a disappointment.
Avoid at All Cost
We went to Greendale Farm Shop Restaurant last evening. The food, when it arrived, was virtually inedible. Chips were cold, soggy, and evidently cooked hours before. Burger was burned, and tasted rancid.
This establishment 'offers' a deal of burger and chips, and a drink, for £12. The burgers are £10.00 on their own. My friend could not fid a drink to her taste. As we were both driving, I opted for mineral water. When the staff member rang up the invoice, we were charged £12 for each meal. My friend pointed out that she had not had a drink and that her bill should have been £10.80 (she had the cheek to order onions with her burger!!!!), not £12. She highlighted the fact that the cost of the burger (and additions) were clearly stated on the menu. The staff member refused to ament the invoice, and very rudely stated that she 'couldn't do anything about the price, as that was what the till recorded'. The staff member was extremely rude and dismissive - not a good advert for the restaurant at all. Will never go there again. Rather grubby restaurant.
shocking Santa visit…
Just had the most shocking Santa visit ever! Dark shed- which is overwhelming for a small child….its Christmas get some fairy lights and light the place up…a video of very little interest to a small child, two doors with a picture of a reindeer behind and a Santa who spent the whole 5 minutes trying to hold his beard on! Oh and a cheap book as a present…..value for £15…..don’t think so! The only positive thing was Santas elf, she was lovely and at least made an effort
