Third time here, chewy stakes at a premium prise.
Lidl sell better.
Will not be returning.

Owtons used to be my go to butchers but following recent visits to Owtons at Hilliers I regret to say the quality of what is on offer is no longer what it was. The final straw was the purchase of a pork leg joint which was not cheap but proved to be of poor quality. Based on recent visits and purchases I regret to say Owtons have lost a very loysl customer.

Went to their shop at Hilliers Garden Centre yesterday. The guy serving had zero customer service and greeted me with “Yeah”. No politeness whatsoever and never acknowledged me during my purchase of 4 different products.

This is my third experience of poor service. The last time was at Christmas when I bought a turkey crown. Miserable staff and when cooked was the worst turkey ever. One from Aldi would have been better.

Previously bought some sausages that were off and when cooked made my wife and myself ill. Complained to their head office and was eventually given a voucher that only covered the cost of my purchase.

They claim that their meat is locally sourced but I understand they purchase meat from abroad at probably cheap prices.

I will never use Owtens ever again as I have experienced bad meat on two occasions and consistently experienced awful and rude service from their main outlet at Hilliers.

I purchased a 2.5Kg boneless striploin of beef for a family Sunday roast and was genuinely impressed by the quality from the moment I unwrapped it, I could tell it was a premium cut. Well marbled and trimmed beautifully. I slow roasted it and the flavour was outstanding — rich, beefy, and incredibly juicy. It had a perfect balance of tenderness. The family loved it. It also held up well to be sliced thin for sandwiches the next day — still tender and good flavour, even cold.
We also purchased a pack 6oz Mexican chilli beef burgers for an easy Mexican style weekday meal. The family also tried the Mexican Chilli Burgers this week and were blown away by how good they were. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with bold Mexican-inspired flavour. The chilli gives it a nice kick without being overpowering — these burgers are a serious upgrade from the usual.
Recommend both products for any meat lovers.

Very disappointed with 2 sirloin steaks for £14. Cooked medium at 55C and rested. Found them lacking flavour and too chewy. Purchased from the Titchfield shop in the Garden Centre.

Have just purchased a chicken spring roll. Disgusting. 4 layers of pastry and no filling.

Options for delivery times too. Very impressive so far....can't review the product yet....it frozen

very poor steak, i trimmed over 6oz of rubbish off the underside of the pre packed steak (good side up) after cooking i fed it to the dog, she enjoyed it, sorry guys, you let the good name down, i have had better day old steak from cheep supermarkets, your competitors will be getting my hard earned cash from now on

Thought we were fortunate to win a meat raffle of Owton's sausages, chicken and topside joint.
Unfortunately all the meat was inedible - the chicken was mainly gristle with horrid fluid seeping out - the topside was off and had to be thrown away and the sausages were so chewy - not sure what they used for the covering?? Also, not sure how the produce was stored prior to the raffle? In essence would not buy from Owtons or bother with meat raffle again!

Only good thing on sale here is the pork scratchings, sausages are terrible, the so called beef ones are even worse, virtually no meat, just fat that squirts out the casing, never again,
Asked where meat came from the only answer was UK, not good enough, all meat should be 100% traceable to source ( farm)
Terrible quality meat & meat products, my advice, go to Lidl

Thank you again Owtons. From ordering and phoning customer service about delivery time, which I might add was spot on! The Meat box is of the best quality and exactly as described.

The website for this company is misleading to the point of lying. When ordering Christmas meat, they agree delivery and take your money, but deliver on different day. I got my fresh Christmas meat on 18 Dec and had to freeze it all.

In conjunction with this the website leads you to believe all meat is locally farmed in the south of UK using sustainable farming methods. The majority of the meat I received was not UK farmed and no providence or proof of farming methods was provided.

This company is simply a cheap meat wholesaler, do not believe their website. It’s lies and mis information.

Owton’s, owtons or owtons butchers

Found the whole purchase very disappointing. Went in to buy beef fillet steak. Butcher dressed a new whole fillet but seemed very reluctant to answer questions about the beef. When asked if the beef was Angus l got a curt yes. Then asked if the beef was Irish got a two word Great Britain. Then was told ‘this is gonna cost ya’ Ended up buying 2 kilo at £54 a kilo. Meat was tasteless and tough for fillet. Stay away.

Awful. Not British and not locally sourced. Awful butchers and awful customer service.
