I have used this carvery for many years with friends and family, spending plenty of money over that time. I visited early June 2026 and a week later received a PCN. I completely understand that pubs don’t want non‑customers abusing their car parks, but I was a customer.
I rang the pub to explain this and the duty manager told me they “couldn’t help” and “that’s what we’re told to say.” No interest in helping a loyal customer at all.
I then contacted the CEO, Nick Mackenzie. I received a reply from Clare asking for proof of purchase. My sister treated me that day, and as pensioners I didn’t want to cause her hassle digging out receipts. After several calls and emails, the PCN was finally cancelled — but I was warned that “next time” they would require proof. I don’t appreciate being spoken to like a child.
These places have become a joke. They seem more interested in squeezing money out of genuine customers through PCNs than serving a decent carvery. I spent 30 years in retail and valued every customer. It’s clear Greene King’s management have drilled a “don’t care” attitude into their staff. Without customers, you don’t exist.
I won’t be using any of these venues again. If you forget to enter your registration into their iPad, the stress and hassle afterwards simply isn’t worth it. I’ll find somewhere better to eat from now on.
Going downhill and very very poor
Visit to the Dartbridge inn just of the A38 Devon. Gone down hill. Very poor, we will not be back. Portion sizes were so small, even the waiter was so embarrassed about the size he was serving for the prices. The waiter apologised when challenged about the size of the meals. Meals not hot and not very tasty. Ask for extra custard at to pay an extra 50p for literally 50 mils of custard. Absolute joke. Definitely will not be returning. This is four regular customers that travel here as it's the halfway point for both couples to meet. We will be looking for a different venue to meet up. Sad, really.

Went for birthday. Worst pub food I’ve ever had. Didn’t offer gluten free chips and the steak was inedible.

Poor Processed Food..
Poor Processed Food..
Had an absolutely brilliant pre-frozen cod and catering chips dinner in my local Greene King pub recently. Would like to add a definite improvement on my last GK dining experience which put me off work with food poisoning, commonly known as gastrointestus, after being served an infected undercooked steak, and would also like to add the resulting chest cramps were excruciatingly painful only improved slightly with a course of codin phosphate issued after an emergency visit to my GP.
Thanks Greene King for showing compassion and care to your customers, and lets hope you never have a Audit failure in the near future.

Stay away! Tried to order a pinot grigio but none available. Tried to order a Greene King stable lager Carling or Carlsberg but not served here. Ordered food via the app, 38 minutes later a very poor meal arrived. I'll probably need a doctors tonic tomorrow

Went to the Cedar tree farm Cardiff Bay.
Haven’t eaten out in this place for years, after suspecting I had food poisoning from this place. Things change! So I tried it again yesterday (a Carvey), absolutely disgusting. Then I saw the person behind the counter mixing the food (old with new).
This is not allowed for good reason.
(UK buffet restaurants are strictly prohibited by the Food Standards Agency from mixing old hot food left on display with freshly cooked food. Doing so risks cross-contamination and allows dangerous bacteria to multiply because older food may have already sat in the temperature "danger zone" for too long).
Got a refund without attitude from the manager at least.

Just been to Golden Eagle Cleveleys
Just been to Golden Eagle Cleveleys, have been going there for 16 years but never again. The food was well below par & sparse. Bacon bits on All day breakfast, Steak & ale pie was substandard, could have paid £1.50 in shop & got better quality. All the dishes were small in portion compared to previous visits, nobody came to ask if everything was ok. Had to go to counter to ask for child's sweet. Tables around the pub were left uncleared while staff could be seen talking. Tables seen with meals & drinks left abandoned & untouched. Wait time was 45 minutes, other customers complained about this.
False advertising
Blue light discounts ! Visited wearside farm , on the Greene king app shows as nearest pub went in 6 of us , linked to the free wifi also Greene king named states on advertising that blue light card holders get discounts every day ! Went to use the card and they state it’s farmhouse inns ! Not discount allowed to be given ! Showed them on the app for Greene king emailed guest services with no joy infact they were very blunt , false advertising and if your not part of Greene king taken them off the app

Unhelpful and difficult regarding my e-bike
I remember in my early days in the hospitality industry as a member of the Hotel Catering and Institutional Management Association (HCIMA) (now rebranded as the Institute of Hospitality) being taught the importance of making your guests feel welcome.
If only that was the case with the GM of the Bushel in Bury St. Edmunds. I had booked so I could attend the town’s lovely regency theatre, as I regularly do, as part of a tour by bike and train of East Anglia’s market towns.
On many previous visits to the town, I have been made very welcome, my expensive E-bike has been kept secure and I have thoroughly enjoyed coming by train and cycle to the town.
As none of my regular hotels were available for a reasonable rate, I decided to give the Bushel a try and, having booked, rang 12 days before my stay to ask where I could store my e-bike to be told that it was 'Greene King company policy not to allow e-bikes on their premises'. Which was very odd because I took the same bike to the Dog and Partridge in BSE only a few months ago and secured it in their garden with no problem at all.
According to the woman I spoke to, who was being guided by a man in the background, I couldn’t. Company policy wouldn’t allow it.
As someone who does not suffer fools gladly and who has spent much of his later career making a living from travel writing, I contacted Greene King’s press office asking for sight of the company’s policy. As I suspected, the people at the Bushel were speaking absolute drivel.
Here is the company policy: ‘We can confirm that customers are permitted to park e-bikes in the car park of any of our pubs, however we do not allow e-bikes to be parked inside the building’.
Then customer services got involved, the area manager to boot, who offered to get the GM at the Bushel to contact me after I had written ‘to make sure that I know where exactly I can store the bike’.
I thought he would be helpful and accommodating. Instead I found him to be obstructive and difficult. He was quoting all sorts of reasons why my bike could not be locked to something in the garden to ensure it was safe overnight. His attitude was completely different to that of the Dog and Partridge, who could not have been more accommodating when I visited there.
However, I must say that Greene King's policy is quite wrong. The only difficulty ever with e bikes has been with cheap ones when they have been charged using the wrong charger. I had no need to charge my bike and clearly would not have been bringing it indoors. Do they not want cyclists to come? They didn’t answer that!
I got the impression that, behind the scenes, someone had had their knuckles wrapped, because the GM seemed to be doing everything he possibly could to try to prevent me from taking my bicycle there, which is not the spirit of hospitality I would expect from a manager at a generally well-run local company.
The following day, having had a sleepless night being upset at the likelihood of an uncomfortable confrontation with the Bushel’s GM, with much sadness, I cancelled my trip.`
To Greene King’s credit, their customer relations team was helpful, understanding and responsive, even refunding a non refundable booking.
But the episode has left me feeling let-down, disappointed and upset.

Opted for the Burger meal on a Friday evening (08/05/2026). The location was The Bridgebuilder on the Wellington retail park in Telford. Food was average but can't complain due to the price.
Whilst munching away on my food I noticed bar staff combining all the half bottles of ketchup and mayonnaise into full ones.
This was concerning due to the potential mix up of dates etc. Not very food hygiene/safety conscious.
