I went The Three Magpies gastro pub Bath Road Heathrow recently.

I have visited it on and off for quite a few years and before COVID and during the pandemic the pub declined quite a bit and was surprised at this since it used to be the go to place for entertainment and lot more in that area of Heathrow.

However, in the last few weeks I revisited the pub again after a long time and ever since I have been going there regularly. There has been a breath of FREASH AIR breathed into the place, it is completely different from what it was a few years ago. Where it was in a state of decline. The trade in the pub is something that many from the hospitality industry can only yearn for, and many establishments locally have a huge level of respect for Tim, The Manager and his Assistants Dave, and Gaynor as well other hard working staff at the Three Magpies. It is well known amongst the regulars and the others in the trade locally, that without Tim, Dave and his Team, the pub would still be struggling.

I have waited a few weeks to write this review and normally do not write anything just off the cuff, but I have to respect and marvel as to howTim, Dave and his Team has manged to turn things around.

As a result I have got to know the team quite well and also have introduced many of my other friends to the pub and they also have become loyal and regular customers here. Furthermore to illustrate the spirit of the pub, I have observed; customers who are not regular attendees, offering to help out in the pub when they see that its short of staff. This is very unusual. The staff always decline and thank them for their manganous offerings with a big smile and pride.

Furthermore with the level of trade happening here, there is no security or bouncers at the door, even on music night, all hosted by Tim, Dave, Gaynor and his Team. I have since learned that they do this from their own volition. This further provides evidence as to how this once struggling establishment has become a success and will continue to do so provided its Line and Head Office Management see this pub as a jewel in their crown and strongly support it without exception.

I am giving this pub more than Five Stars, the food is great, simple, whilst appetising. The drinks are of very good quality and variety and it goes without saying that the staff are pleasant and very welcoming.

The only down side I see here is that despite the hard efforts of the pub, the Line Management needs to recognise that it needs to invest more in recruiting additional staff and identifying resources to support the establishment. There is only so much that people on the front line can do.

We went to Ashby Lodge Scunthorpe hoping that the service and quality had improved I was again dissapointed the service was dismal no courtesy no smiles the waitress never came to ask if we enjoyed the food,it has sadly gone down in expectations the food at the carvery vegetables were lukewarm the brussels were soft and mushy. The service has gone to the dogs It will be along time before we go back again. I hope Grrene King will act on this.

Stop taking seniors for a ride we went to the marine pub hornsea my wife and i thought we would have a seniors as we know the portions tend to be smaller but usualy enough .to be honest when it finaly arrived we burst out laughing 9 chips 6 small pieses of scampie and the they were small if scampie at all a spoonfull of mushy peas and a bit of lemon . Two teas and two tiny spoonfulls of ice.cream green king must realy be hard up to screw the the pensioners .what a shabby company to prey on the older people who are hard up . Ime not one to complain but even my wife who eats very little thought they were pulling our legs .ive to told the the clubs we are in to avoid these pubs and putting a warning up on the c&c.club web to avoid these senior pubs pub meals and go elsewhere .

went to Home Farm View in Kirkcaldy, service was very slow. waited ages on our food. I got haggis, tatties and turnip. Haggis was good, sauce very nice. Turnip was very watery I am assuming it was frozen, potatoes defo not like mashed potatoes I make in the house!! My mother had gammon steak left over half of it as was very tough. The waitress could see what was left on the plate but never said anything again I would assume that the waitress should have asked if all was ok. really disapointed as had been a few weeks earlier and it was good but after this visit I don't think we will be back.

Visited the Gynsils Farm for a family members birthday with a group of 8, we were served by Rebecca and she was lovely and so kind, nothing was too much trouble for her and she helped to make the birthday girl, who was celebrating her 70th with family, feel very special.
Great customer service

We visited the Cuddie Brae in Musselburgh for a family meal and a catchup last night. We have been using this pub for the last 4years. Never again the food was terrible the menu such as it was, was printed on A4 paper. The service was appalling, no one asked if everything was ok with the meal it was as if we were not there. We were not offered dessert or coffee after our meals and to top it all the bar closed at 10pm!! There were 6 family members and the food bill alone was £140. The drinks bill was nearly £100 but that is the last time we will be spending our money in there.

VISITED THE WHITTINGTON IN PINNER A FEW WEEKS AGO . THIS IS A TERRIBLE PUB IF ALL YOU WANT IS A FEW DRINKS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR CUSTOM, THE BAR STAFF ARE OK BUT MANAGEMENT DO NOT WANT YOU TAKING UP A TABLE

Went to the Old bank in Northampton Town centre and to my surprise when I ask for a lager I was told that Peroni was BOGOF that is great value and then I ordered Fish N Chips and was surprised how big the fish was for the price will be back there every Thursday for the same yummy yummy.

Not been here for a while, its been taken over and what can I say? Service was amazing, welcomed our dog. Food was cooked to perfection. Even got doggie ice-cream free. Lovely pub and great for the warm weather as it has a small lovely garden.

visited the st Leonards hotel for an ABBA tribute night, OMG what a bloody disorganized night mere. not security, and no door control so if you looking for a free night out just walk in. buffet food ran out leaving many like us with no food and nowhere to sit for the evening. I had spoken to staff who advised they did not have any control of numbers and more people arrived than what they had catered for they put out 3 more tables which clearly was not enough and took away 50% of the dance floor. i will be contacting my bank for a charge back as clearly they did not provide the services describe in the sale of ticket

I purchased a groupon deal for this pub, Ridgeway Arms, Sheffield, for two burger meals and a drink ( 175ml glass of wine and a standard cider) paid £14.49 for the deal, however on attending on the 25/02/2023, we were charged an additional £13.33 making it no deal at all ‍ and was told they did not have any burger meals left ... at 7pm!!! really? We ended up ordering two chicken burgers ( which we really didn’t want , but by this time we were hungry so really didn’t have much of a choice! )… listened to other customers trying to order, only to be told they had run out of other meals on the menu as well. Extremely poor service, and poor organisation considering time of arrival. We booked a couple of days ahead, to book a certain table out of the way, only to find on arrival, another party of 4 were sitting at it... totally unorganised, poor service, poor food choice and lack of compassion. the deal purchased wasn't actually a deal at all, we ended up basically paying full price - terrible customer service - do not go unless you want to be ripped off and have a poor selection to choose from, off the menu! Avoid avoid avoid!!!

So i took my niece out for a meal today at The Bowman in Hucknall Nottingham for 'Two Burger meals and Two Drinks for Two People' what should have been £38.95, although i bought a Groupon Voucher for £14.49, however they was doing 2 for 1 so same price either way, i was looking forward to my Flame-grilled mango chilli chicken burger and was really disappointed when they bought it out to me, 2 small bits of chicken thigh (Shocking) that didn't even fill the bun and smoothed in mayonnaise, lets say i didn't eat it and took it for my small dog. How can you serve this standard to a customer for the cost it should have been, sure won't be going back there.

My wife and I visit the Queens Way pub in Scunthorpe quite often and usually served by the same members of staff, one in particular called Joe. Joe is always friendly and cannot do enough for you, she is allways on the go whether she cleaning tables or bringing food, she is a asset to Green King and would be a great loss if she was to leave the company

we booked to go heath farm boxing day 4 adults and 5 children paid half the money due said we could pay rest on day. we went it took 10 mins to find my name I paid what was owing and then after few more minutes waiting we were shown to out table. After over half hour my son went and asked what was happening as nobody had come to us . this took time yet again and we had to wait to order.we were told we could have festive meal which we had paid for they questioned that I had paid . After nearly an hour we got our dinner. we then had to wait yet again for someone come to see what was for pudding as they only had a couple of items left. my pudding was supposed to be fruit crumble which just looked like mixed frozen fruit with blob of custard it was awful this wait wasn't good as we had little ones who were fed up and tired and I am a diabetic so needed food. I will not recommend this pub we complained but nothing was done the next table had been there longer than us waiting its disgusting. it's not the first time we had trouble there but we used to love going but that was the last straw totally ruined our boxing day meal so will not recommend it to anyone sorry its a long posy.

Went in on entry only to be asked have you booked ( No we haven't) after tutting at us we got to a table half the pub has reserved tables yet there was no one turning up, they were turning people away !! They must have lost hundreds that evening staff were rude and not dressed the part .

We booked Christmas dinner for Christmas Day for 7 family members, and it was the worst meal we have ever had.
Our table was booked for 1.45 and we weren’t seated until 2.45, the starters were mediocre at best, but the Christmas dinner main meals and service were diabolical! First of all our elderly father of 97 who had pre ordered the fish, was served first, and the rest of us had to actually queue for approx 30 minutes to get our meals. The two vegetarian meals, which were supposed to be apricot and cranberry wellingtons, were 2 pieces of dried up quorn - no pastry, apricot or cranberry, and there was only one of them left, their Christmas dinner consisted of a few soggy vegetables and a rubbery Yorkshire pudding, even though their meals had been pre ordered. My elderly father was left at the table to eat his Christmas dinner alone while the rest of us queued and had finished his meal by the time we got back to the table,
Not one of us could eat much as the whole meal was bland and the meat tough, no pigs in blankets or bread or cranberry sauces. We paid £65 per head, for what was in effect a cheap Sunday carvery. They had booked far too many people in for Christmas Day to optimise maximum profit, and not nearly enough staff to cope. We complained and were told we would get a refund, but they actually debited our account instead of crediting it! All in all it was a horrendous experience, and a Christmas dinner that we will never forget, for all the wrong reasons.

Asked for a gluten free breakfast staff weren't even aware that there is gluten in sausages all what they did was look on an ipad which is no use whatsoever so I ordered a breakfast without sausage, hash browns and bread which annoys me paying full price for half of the food because green king fail to provide for people like me, loads vegetarian options for people who choose not to eat meat, ordered food 11.30 still waiting at 12.05 so cancelled order and walked away.
My husband was on his way for an eye operation so we couldn't wait any longer so we are now sat hungry in an hospital waiting room

CAROUSEL reddish, absolutely awful service, 50 awaiting a meal is totally unacceptable, 3 orders incorrect, one person missed out NEVER AGAIN

Went to the refurbishment Four Oaks with a friend and had a great experience. Cosy table near the fire and great service from waitress Maria who was so helpful with menu suggestions and had a warm and friendly personality with a professional approach. She was there when we needed her but not in your face all the time. Food was stunning and we will definitely be back soon.
