I had forgotten that I joined Gretel to search for old pensions then this morning I received an email claiming they had found a match. Honestly, at first I thought it was a scam ! But I followed it up and I now have 17,000 pounds I didn't even know existed .Thank you so much Gretel! Amazing

This site is largely dis-functional and one must suspect scam potential given the personal detail aquired , too many people over too long a period have received zero help with their enquiries , myself included, and if as per your standard response that in-sufficient bodies are co-operating then there must be a good reason behind their not taking part !
Furthermore when I attempted to delete my account detail I was twice un-successful...BEWARE!

We strongly disagree with your characterisation of Gretel. The service is fully functional and has helped many people successfully reconnect with lost pensions, policies and investments — something reflected in the large number of positive reviews we’ve received.
To be clear, Gretel can only match against data shared by participating financial institutions. If no results are returned, it simply means no matches have been identified within the current dataset — not that the service is “dis-functional” or a scam. As we continue to grow and more providers join, coverage increases and new matches can and do appear over time.
We also take data protection extremely seriously. Gretel does not sell personal data, and we operate under strict regulatory and security standards.
Regarding account deletion, this should be straightforward. We’d be happy to investigate what went wrong in your case — please contact our support team so we can resolve this for you promptly.
Have I done something wrong?
I have myself, mum and dad on Gretel but it always shows ‘0’ matches. I have input everything but no matches. Not sure if I’ve done something wrong or the system doesn’t work very well? Shame as I thought this would be a great way of checking. I’ve had Gretel for about 5/6 years by the way… not one match.

Thanks for your review. If you’re seeing “0 matches”, it doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong — it simply means that no records have been identified from the data currently shared with Gretel by our partner companies. Not all providers are participating yet, so it’s possible that any accounts you or your family hold sit with organisations that aren’t sharing data with us at the moment.
The good news is that once an account is registered, Gretel keeps searching automatically in the background. If a new provider joins or new records become available that match your details, you’ll be notified straight away.
Easy to use
Easy to use, easy to understand. Easy to input details, easy to get them to contact providers. It was also easy to add my Mum as a third party to see if they could find anything for her too.

I registered last year in the hope as I've moved around a lot and changed my surname. Initially nothing was coming up but as I updated my details I got a hit. A pension that I had (but had no information for) I have been told today that I have a pension pot worth over £25000.00. I had no idea! Honestly I would definitely recommend this site, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Thank you

Thanks for your feedback. Gretel can only return results from companies that have chosen to share their data with us, so if no matches were found — even where share certificates exist — it means those companies aren’t yet partnered with Gretel or haven’t shared those records.
Once an account is created, Gretel continues searching in the background and will notify you if anything is identified in future as more companies come on board.

Be aware though they only have details from companies that have already been in touch with them.
They don't go out and search on your behalf.
As a free service though it's great but only if the pension provider has registered with Gretel

You’re right that Gretel can only match against data shared by companies that are partnered with us. While we don’t contact providers individually on a user’s behalf, once you’re registered Gretel continues to search automatically in the background and will notify you if new matches appear as more providers join. We also offer a Company Search feature, which allows users to contact thousands of other companies directly.
We’re glad you found the service helpful and appreciate you highlighting that it’s completely free to use.

Gretel can only provide matches where companies have chosen to share their data with us — so if no matches were found, it means none could be identified at this time, rather than an issue with how the service works. As reflected in many of our positive reviews, matches can and do happen, but our coverage is still expanding as more providers join.
We respect your decision to leave; should you wish to try Gretel again in future, you’d be very welcome to re-join.
Never thought I would get a match
Never thought I would get a match, it was years and years ago when I took out this pension. I'm 58 now took this pension when in my teens early twenties . Due to money difficulties at time stopped it and forgot about it. Tried to find it but it was impossible, until I used Gretel. Even though not worth much every penny counts. Thank you Gretel

Reminded me I need to change my address
I forgot I had set up a Gretel account and then an email arrived from them. Although I was aware of the account I had found I didn’t realise they still had my old home address as I had not updated it. I am very pleased if the service I received. Very helpful for a free service.
