Why have they added the 'make an offer' button with suggested offer prices? It's not their place.

Such a bad move.
It's bad enough they added 'eligible for delivery' for things that clearly shouldn't be. At least this can be disabled.

An offer button can only work if you can pre pay online surely. Are we relying on people to stick to something that can't be enforced or regulated?

It is encouraging people to haggle & sellers forced to increase their prices to play along with this merry dance. Why are we normalising expecting everything for half price & buyers being annoyed if you dare to say no?

Nobody reads the full listing so putting no offers isn't an option.
The last few people who messaged on my listing didn't even read the title or location let alone the description. The reason for this is the 'contact with offer' style button in your face. Why bother reading or having polite communication?

If people treat the site like a low budget car boot sale then sellers will massively inflate the prices or it'll just be a site full of old tat & scoungers.

It's a potential time wasters heaven. Entitled people just looking for super cheap or they won't buy. The expectation of huge bargains & a lot of disappointment. Off putting for sellers & buyers.

There is some great stuff on there at the moment but this 'off 20%' will only work if people actually stick to verbal agreements in person. How will Gumtree monitor this? What to stop buyers turning up, asking for 60% off or kicking off on your doorstep?

Haggling is so 10 years ago & instantly makes people feel a bit distrustful. It attracts difficult buyers who think you are a pushover or charity.

Yet another way of making people feel uneasy, unsafe & mistrustful. Sellers dreading the next haggler or giving out the collection address. Bare in mind most items are for collection at people's homes.

I guess we'll all be adding on 40% to our prices so buyers can 'feel' like they have won a prize.

So many problems with Gumtree UK website not loading seller’s pictures. Picture frame just shows “?”. Never had this issue months ago. Tried on their chat line and was told it is my device and to use different browser and clear cookies etc. etc. Sorry to disappoint Gumtree but we used all the family’s devices which included MacBooks, Windows based and android smart phones - all the same problem. We have no problem with any other sales or email sites. Can’t help thinking Gumtree loosing a lot of money for sellers when buyers can’t see the adverts properly !

I posted a job on this site.. obviously they dont appear to vet any trades people on that site. I got a quote for removing a relatively small pile of garden waste, had a quote thru today from a Man with Van only wanted £500 to move it !!LOL.... yea so removed my account instead from this site.!!!

Total scam. Sellers allowed to cancel order with no warning or feedback . But someone has had my money for a week 🤬

Contacting gumtree support when things don't work seems to be a waste of time, support is not there to help site users, and gumtree support don't escalate issues even when they say they are going to escalate the case to tech support, they are rude and shut you down before you finished, nothing is addressed, no accountability at gumtree support, hence nothing gets done, it's almost as if gumtree support is deliberately trying to drive away users to competitors.
Collecting renewal money from my account for an ad you haven't fixed the image issues for after a whole month since the issue was first raised is not only diabolical and theft. WRONG WRONG WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL.

No complains about the sales/buy options, though it is well recorded here that the click/buy conversion is close to zero (according to the number of views compared to the number of messages received, most of which are just questions such as "is it still available?" and when you say "yes" you never hear back ... but its about what appears to be a limitation in how listings are managed once marked as “sold”.
At the moment, when an item is marked as sold, it remains in my account as “inactive,” with no option to permanently delete it. This creates unnecessary clutter, especially for users like me who are not professional sellers but simply trying to clear a number of personal items.
Why on earth would I ever want to "repost" something I sold? If I have more of the same item (diffficult for non professional sellers!) I will just post a new ad... won't I?
Instead of streamlining the process, it adds extra steps and confusion.
From a user perspective, this feels counterintuitive. Once an item is sold, it would be reasonable to expect the option to either archive or permanently delete it, depending on the user’s preference.
Not sure if this is intended behaviour (what for?), and if so, are there any plans to introduce a proper deletion option for inactive ads?

I placed my ad for a sofa, paid for the ad, submitted the ad, when I checked the ad a little later the ad had been deleted.!!!

People message then you never hear from them again, also I really don't know what people want tbh. I've listed at least 10 quality items for bargain prices, have had dozens of views but no sale. Also people want to knock down the price and expect you to deliver too! I gave up in the end and donated all my items to charity.

I placed and add my card was charged then when I checked a few minutes later my add had been removed. When I contacted customer service I was told my account was restricted. So I told them to refund my money or I would contact my bank. And they would not tell my why it was removed I have used gumtree a lot over the years. Customer service were actually very rude. Adds removed constantly. No reason. Unbelievably frustrating. It's a fast dying platform and deserves it. As does eBay.

Nothing sells so no people use this

I have used Gumtree for many years for both buying and selling locally, however since eBay have started making changes it has become useless. The most recent update with the delivery option has rendered the local item search beyond useless! Instead of showing newly listed items within my specified radius, it just shows everything from everywhere in the country!

I used to love Gumtree, so easy to use but idiots keep changing how it works and is getting worse IF IT'S NOT BROKE DO'NT FIX IT !!!!!!!!

I tried to view motorbikes on gumtree but every time I went to the cars and vehicles section it instantly took me to cars and will not let me view anything else. This website is crap, woefully and totally useless. I really don’t know how they keep going. A 10 year old child could design a better website. So hacked off with sites like this. It used to be easy but not any more. Just get your act together gumtree and produce a website that is easy to navigate and be able to find what you want. You have just lost another viewer. The site is a big pile of @#*&

Tried to put ad on gumtree but was removed, tried twice more same result but the took 3 payments and I have had no joy with customer service. Will never use them again. Easy to see why such a bad Trustpilot score

Yet again Gumtree surpass themselves with 0 customer support. Purchased a washing machine recently from a seller, when it arrived I set it up to find half the digital display missing, contacted Gumtree for them to say we’ve noted it thanks…. No help to me AT ALL. They might as well have said tough. So I’m left with a digital washer that I can’t read, a seller that’s got my money & a service that couldn’t care less.. YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED GUMTREE

Sellers never reply, such a pointless site. Stick to using ebay.

I'm trying to buy a set of Airpods via Gumtree but it seems infested by scams.
When I ask for an address, rather than the meeting place where these 'sellers' want to meet, I either get silence or abuse.
Gumtree say 'Email address verified'. What does that mean exactly? Email addresses are totally anonymous to professional scammers.
Gumtree should INSIST on a land address.

Dreadful place, will never use again, been looking for tradesmen who can provide services for pick up of an ebay item and another for garden rubbish removal, both I have had NO response worth my time, if any response at all. I am now convinced a lot of them are on benefits and able to pick and choose which jobs they take and whether they wish to get out of bed for the job that morning.
I have lost count now as to just how many I have been in contact with, some just completely ignore your emails and some just cut you off in mid stream of conversation because they change their minds, nothing but a load of time wasters and lazy articles, a days work would literally kill them and their communication skills are appalling, nil. Nowhere on the site to complain and I doubt very much if Gumtree even gives a dam.
Will never use again. NEVER. And this one star needs to change, they do not even deserve that, hate using it.
