Carrera Luna design fault. An accident waiting to happen

My daughter had an accident on her bike where the chain came off and the bike doesn’t have a guard on the chain sprockets. The sprocket went through the back of her leg and she needed 10+ stitches. These are bikes that they are selling to juniors(my daughter was 11 at the time). To make things worse, customer services fobbed me straight off to their solicitors, which is horrendous and so far from the customer service they should be providing. They have kept my daughters bike for investigation for over 9 months now and I haven’t had a response back for nearly 6 months. You would have thought that the least they could do is fit a guard or replace the bike to one with a guard.
Do not buy the Carrera Luna bike for your child, they are dangerous and clearly have a design floor which Halfords aren’t willing to address.
Halfords have provided the worst customer service I have ever received.

Halfords are DVLA recommended to supply…

Halfords are DVLA recommended to supply new caravan trailer number plate for travelling in Europe. Halfords use Hills of Birmingham as their supplier. Assistant tried her hardest to order plate with no success.Halfords order form could only cope with 7 digit numbers the trailer plate is 8. She asked the manager for help but he was far too busy so sent another assistant who tried but couldn’t help. I left and rang Hills who are also recommended by DVLA and they explained that yes this was a problem but Halfords needed to put the number in a “Comments” line on the form and they could make the plate. Returned to shop and the assistant again asked the manager for help which he again did nothing other than send another assistant who who equally could not not work out how to order the plate. The final answer came down from the manager via his assistant’s. Give them a letter with all my details and it would be answered in 4 weeks maximum?. This on an order for a plate whose certificate of authority from the DVLA lasts for 5 days. Went home and tried to contact Halfords HQ. Not one of their automated phone numbers had”space” for further messages.

Went into Worcester to GSF car parts. Did the plate on the spot while I waited no problem.. Moral. Don’t bother wasting your time with Halfords. I certainly will not in future.

Bike collection

I came to collect a bike on April 14th for my grandsons birthday. I’m in my 70’s and mobility not brilliant. I’d arranged for a taxi to pick up bike and carry it to my home which is a short drive from Halfords. After 2 taxis said bike was too big for their vehicles I really didn’t know what to do. Lovely Sales assistant who had served me saw what was happening and offered to put it in his car and drive it to my home. I have never been so grateful in my life! He removed front wheel put bike in his car and drove to my home while I drove in front to show him where I live. He brought the correct tools to replace wheel and everything was sorted within a very short time.
While assistant was putting bike in his car I picked up wheel to follow him out when another young assistant stopped me and wouldn’t allow me to carry wheel even though I protested and said I could easily manage it. His words were “ that he would go mad if either his mam or grandma had to carry the wheel and no one helped them”.
Halfords I don’t know where you get your staff but everyone we have had dealings with in your South Shields store have been amazing but these two assistants really went above and beyond to help me. Your manager should be so proud of these young gentleman who made my shopping experience so good. I really can’t explain what brilliant ambassadors they are for your store. They were helpful, caring, supportive and professional but most of all they were extremely kind. Service like this was a pleasure to see and I can never thank them enough especially the young lad who drove the bike home for me.
I apologise for not getting the names of the two lads but assume that you can trace them from the date of pick up and time which was 5.00pm.
Thankyou so much for your helpfulness and kindness. You will never know how much I appreciated you.

I ordered a set of brembo brake pads for delivery , I paid extra for next day delivery, so should have been delivered 10th April, by the 16th April, still no delivery, even though I had sent, 3 email complaints, I then tried calling the customer service number, but unfortunately it must be based in India as I struggled to understand what they were saying, but was basically told that I had to wait for the goods to be delivered before I could get a refund, and I had to take it to a Halfords store to process the refund also I would not get money back for next day delivery charge, it is now 26th April, I have been in to my local Halfords store to complain but was told that they don't have anything to do with online orders, so I called the helpline again, this time I was told that I have to wait until the order is returned by the courier to Halfords, then they will be in touch to sort the refund, absolutely pathetic service, I will never use Halfords for anything ever again, if I could give no stars I would but it doesn't let you !

Ford Ka.

I booked my car in for a full service costing £260. On arrival I was asked if I wanted to pay another £20 as the service only covers 80% of the oil change and for the remaining 20% would be extra. I was absolutely flabbergasted that this upselling is allowed and clearly encouraged by the customer service staff. I was furious. I had the service done and then took all recommendations to another garage which was much cheaper. I will never go to Halfords again. I tried to complain but got no where.

Very poor dishonest service Newport Gwent.

I have been a member for at least 3 years. This year I have left due to misinformation regarding mot work required, failure to return phone calls to arrange a repair and remot test, work not being started at the booked time slot, parts not available through Halfords or so I'm told by Halfords staff, so I have cancelled my membership with ten months remaining. When service gets this bad it's simply not worth using that company. Newport main store and Granville Street Auto Centre

I ordered a 4-wheel alignment at…

I ordered a 4-wheel alignment at Halfords Fort William. It took almost an hour after the manager's appointment before they even started working on my car.After the repair, the first mechanic very quickly adjusted only the front wheels. When I asked if everything was okay, he answered that everything was okay, but I asked him about the rear wheels, to which he replied that everything was okay. I'd like to point out that the entire front and rear suspension was replaced, and after that, of course, some adjustments were required. It required careful driving, and it was unstable on the road.
And so, after the mechanic assured me that everything was fine, I left the garage and discovered that nothing had changed. I was shocked.I went back and a different mechanic took over the adjustment. This time they almost got it right, but when I got home, I decided to check if everything was okay, and I was shocked again. The nuts weren't tightened on the adjusting bolts, I'm just horrified.I didn't go back; I decided it was dangerous to do repairs in that garage. Be careful and be cautious if you seek help from Halfords.

Chiswick branch not good

Bought a bike there last November and wanted to buy a basket. It looked quite easy to fit, but the repairs guy was telling me it is not! He wanted £8, the basket was £25, I can get that much cheaper online with straps, no fixing, you have to do better, Halfords! Very disappointed.

I booked my car for a service for 9 am

I booked my car for a service , Greenock branch,for 9 am, albeit I was late and arrived at 9.20, I was informed if would take 2 hours so I gave them 3 hours 15 mins, called them at 12.45 to be told my car was only being started. I asked why and was told well you were late … ? Yes I was 20 mins late but does this seem right ? 3 hours later? I asked then if it could be ready for 2.15 to be told it would be too much of a rush,
I collected my car without service.

So disappointed with this service as had to wander around with 6 year old in wet and wind and rain for nothing, but mostly as it’s the only garage I have dealt with since I passed my test in 2000.

It wasn’t the usual manager there so not sure if this was partly the problem as I’ve never had an issue but the excuses I was given, was unacceptable, first it’s cause I was 20 late then I collected my car to be told it was cause they needed parts for other cars etc.

This should be reviewed and clients should t be told to come back in a couple of hours.

I have rebooked with another garage as i was so disappointed. I don’t even usually leave reviews but I felt I had to.

I ordered brake pads for my car on the 4/4/26 they said it would take 2-3 working days as it was Easter and we also had a bank holiday Monday I took it in account that it may take a little longer than expected.it is now the 17/4/26 and I still have not received my brake pads.i contacted Halfords customer service on the 15/4/26 and they informed me that on there computer it says they are ready to deliver,but when I checked on my email it says still processing, they also gave me a case number and said I will receive a phone call within 7 days I don't think this is good enough for a well known company, if I'd known it would take this long I would of went somewhere else,I am gonna wait the 7 days as I don't like to pester people but I'm not happy at all with the service I have received an I will not be using Halfords again,0 * effort

Ordered a battery for my motorcycle…

Ordered a battery for my motorcycle yesterday online payed for it and was told it would be available to pick up after 4 went down they couldn't find my order so I said can you have a look on the system so the guy looked and said oh we don't stock this item in store when it said online that they do I said so where is my order. It's probably on the delivery van right what time is the van coming. About 11 or 12 tomorrow so I've come down here for nothing and no apology was offered just blamed the online system and then just walked off this is what happens when you have people in their late teens running a store no manners no customer service skills I nearly exploded with rage and my battery is still not at the store I will never shop at Halfords again they do not care about their customers at all and a tip for the higher ups at Halfords stop employing teenagers at your stores if you want to remain in business because their attitude problem will leave your stores empty start employing people over the age of 25 because when you walk into a store where all the staff are messing around throwing things at each other doesn't give you confidence in buying anything from that store

Worst retail experience in decades

The worst retail experience I've had in decades. Worthless customer service.
For a FAILED DELIVERY I was offered a 50% refund. Imagine my anger.
I subsequently found GO-OUTDOORS as a trusted alternative supplier and approximately 25%CHEAPER.
Halfords today is a weak shadow of its former brand value. Look for alternatives for lower prices and actual service.

Disappointing experience with misleading information and poor customer support.
I bought a car seat online that was described as ISOFIX compatible, but when it arrived, it wasn’t. Trying to reach customer service was extremely frustrating — very limited options on the phone menu and no way to speak to a person.
I then tried online chat and was 48th in the queue. After waiting around 45 minutes and finally reaching number 12, the chat disconnected. My son later managed to get an email reply via chat advising me to visit a local store for a refund or exchange.
However, the store manager said that because the seat I wanted was an online exclusive, they could only give me a refund. That also meant losing the £5 Motoring Club joining offer, which feels unfair given the issue came from incorrect product information.
To make matters worse, when I tried to reply to their email, I received another automated message saying the case was closed — so you can’t even respond. Very disappointing service overall.

Expensive & rubbish.My advice, have no dealings with HALFORDS..Nothing more than a cheap sweet shop.

Bought car battery from Halforfd and had it fitted by them just over 2 uears ago.
Fitter didn't reset BMW computer and that caused the battery now to no longer hold its charge. Rung customer service 5 times and eventually was given complaint No. and told to email them copy of receipt. I did and got email back saying the email address I was given is no.longer in use.

Aircon service performed twice and was charged and yet no block test was performed professionally and the Halfords Carmarthen auto center never explained why and still car blowing hot air

**Avoid – poor communication, overcharging, and no complaint resolution**

Booked a full service and MOT with Halfords and the experience has been extremely frustrating from start to finish.

On the first visit, we arrived for our appointment only to be told the MOT couldn’t be carried out due to a faulty emissions probe. We had not been informed of this in advance, resulting in a completely wasted journey.

We also agreed to a specific brand of tyres, but a different brand was fitted without our knowledge. On top of that, we were charged £54 more than the advertised price and applicable motoring club discount.

There was then a further 45-minute delay just to pay due to internal paperwork issues, which caused disruption to our family as we were delayed picking up our child.

Our MOT was rebooked for two days later. To avoid another wasted trip, we called in advance and were assured the appointment would go ahead. However, when we arrived, we were again told it could not be done — and staff admitted we had been incorrectly informed.

As a result, we had to arrange and pay for the MOT elsewhere.

To make matters worse, I have since raised a formal complaint (ref: 28519669) and followed up three times by phone, but have received no meaningful response.

Overall, while the initial price seemed competitive, the lack of communication, unauthorised work, overcharging, and complete failure to resolve a complaint has made this a very poor experience.

I would strongly recommend double-checking all details and being cautious before agreeing to any work here.
