I bought my husband the vouchers and booked a shoe fitting appointment, also booked the hotel. My husband absolutely loved it, the shoe fitting appointment was absolutely brilliant and the shoes arrived quicker than expected, he’s thoroughly over the moon with them. He will definitely be ordering more pairs of shoes. I can’t rate this company highly enough, excellent service.

I don't do reviews, save very rarely when I think it would be quite wrong not to do so. This is one of those occasions.
My fiancee wanted to buy me something unusual for my approaching 60th birthday, and offered me the chance of a pair of shoes from Hand Dyed Shoes - whom she had come across via a Facebook Ad. So off we went to Durham! Simon is a lovely guy, and we felt very welcome and were extremely well looked-after when we went to get my feet measured for the shoes. I was driving, but my fiancee enjoyed a very good (and she knows!) gin and tonic while I was being measured, choosing style, leather, colours etc from a huge rage.
The "Shoes and Snooze" experience was also excellent. COVID-related rules meant that we could not stay at the seminary, but we were put up in the centre of lovely Durham, and had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of it after driving up from London.
But none of that is why I am writing this review.
I have difficult feet. To be specific, I have one very difficult foot. Every now and then over the years, I have come across shoes that do not either restrict a toe or pinch a nerve over the top of my foot. I buy two pairs immediately, in the hope that they will last, between them, until I come across the next comfortable shoes.
So when Simon took his measurements, put a couple of different shoes on my feet and was, frankly, dismissive of the idea that this foot would be a tough assignment, I was sceptical. I was also wrong.
These are, without doubt, the most comfortable pair of shoes - for both very different feet - that I have ever owned. I have worn them all day long, and completely forgotten I have them on. The leather is soft and supple. Nothing squeezes or pinches, and yet they fit like gloves. They are just perfect.
Oh, and they look gorgeous, too! Nor does anyone else I am ever likely to meet own a paid of tobacco-coloured Derbies.
The shoes, the most important bit of a thoroughly enjoyable show, are a bravura performance! Thank you, Simon!

From my initial contact to order the gift voucher, through to receiving the unique shoes, the experience has been totally amazing. It was a gift for my husband and he is absolutely delighted with his new shoes and the journey taken to receive them.

From initial contact, through to ongoing communications and then the meeting in Durham it was very clear that I was dealing with a very passionate team.

The session with Simon was creative, motivating and friendly, but I was left absolutely confident that the product was going to be handcrafted and high quality !

When the shoes arrived, despite my very high expectations....HDSC beat them !!! Stunning, beautifully made quality shoes turned up, fit perfectly and worth every penny.

Products are not expensive when the value is greater than the cost !!!!

This review is written by Ray:-The whole experience started on Christmas Day when I received a beautiful HDSC gift box from my wife. In the box was a hand signed letter from Simon, information about the company a pair of good quality socks and the story of Simon’s journey. I booked an appointment and we went to Ushaw College in Durham where the business premises are located. Ushaw College is a day out in itself, its a lovely place to visit wether you’re buying shoes or not. We were greeted with a drink and I was personally fitted for my shoes with Simon. I was guided through various styles and colour ways and chose the ones I wanted. I’ve always wanted a pair of Chelsea Boots but have never been able to find any to fit my wide feet until now. The whole experience lasts about 45 minutes, you don’t feel rushed or put under pressure. I received my boots 6 weeks later, they were better than I could imagine. The fit and quality are amazing, they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had.

I’ve had 2 seperate pairs of shoes from this amazing company now, the location for your fitting is amazing and the service is the best I’ve received from any company.
I’ve always struggled to get good comfortable shoes after years of military boots and these shoes are so comfortable.

Such an amazing experience. Simon managed to make the whole experience personal prior to even meeting, the attention to detail from the first moment is beyond impressive!
My partner drove 4 hours just to meet Simon because he was so overwhelmed by him, he wasn’t disappointed.
The shoes are beautiful (as are the wallet and belt), which is an obvious result of the passion and care put into every appointment and item purchased! Will be back soon!!!

I’ve been buying shoes and boots from Simon and the guys for 2-3 years now and must be nearly 10 pairs in by now and honestly say from the first pair the service and experience have been that good that I have not and will not go anywhere else for my footwear if I could score more than 5 I would
