Long lived and easy to fix.

I bought my Small unit directly from Harvest Right in the winter 2021. It worked perfectly until my recent move across the country. The screen was broken in the move, so I contacted Harvest Right about a replacement. The unit was out of warranty, so there was a small charge for support. I was given a dedicated tech rep throughout the repair process. They no longer made the exact type of screen, so they had to send a newer version along with its associated USB control board. After it was installed, we discovered there were communication problems with the relay board, so we replaced it too. After that we updated the firmware and the unit worked flawlessly. It cost about $200 for the parts, but I now have pretty much a new unit. I really like the Candy Mode the new software supports. Looking forward to many more years of service.

Customer service is excellent

Customer service is excellent. Luis at Harvest Right helped me track down a connection that had been jostled loose during shipping. It was easy to fix, and I was freezer drying my first batch in no time. Love this freeze dryer (medium Pro)!

Bought their freeze dryer

Bought their freeze dryer, I use it for so many things I never thought I would. Fantastic quality, the newer machines dont have the vacuum errors from the earlier generations.

Oil free pump doesn’t work

I purchased a harvest right freeze dryer in 2015 and it worked ok. But then, in 2025 I upgraded to an oil-free vacuum pump and it was a total disaster. Since I installed it I have not been able to freeze dry anything. I had tech support rebuild the pump and send it back and it still doesn’t work. I have asked them to replace it with a premier oil pump but they keep telling me that the oil free pump should work.. But it doesn’t work. Terrible support. I would not recommend Harvest Right.

Excellent Customer Service

The first freeze dryer I bought was a large, we got it set it up and started using it right away. We got a pump error a few batches in but customer service walked us through how to fix it right away. I love my machine so I bought a second one (small). This time it arrived with a broken door handle and all the screws holding the sides on were stripped out. It took a lot of work to get the screws out to fix the handle. Definitely not happy with the quality of the small one but I can't say enough about the customer service. They were prompt, sent videos, called us and texted back and forth. They definitely have great customer service that wants you to succeed with the machines, which is very important to me. I love my two machines, and would buy them again.

Denisha was very helpful when I called for issues with my freeze dryer. Thankfully she was able to help me know what was going on without needing to spend money on repairs. I love having my freeze dryer! Its been a lot of fun to make treats but also to beef up my food storage

Requires maintenance and attention

The freeze dryer works, but I’ve had ongoing issues with the vacuum and occasional cooling errors. The support team was helpful in guiding me through troubleshooting, and recent repairs improved performance. Overall, it works but has required more maintenance and attention than I expected.

Worked with a return on trays

Worked with a return on trays. They were so helpful and responsive. We love our harvest right machine and are looking for more trays. I will be getting the correct size (which was my oversight).

They even called me which I always appreciate and went above and beyond with information and making the return process seem less.

Freeze It

I have had the freeze dryer for over a year and absolutely love it. I make expedition meals and it has been so wonderful to eat things I enjoy in the backcountry. I have freeze dried smoothies, favorite meals, fruits, etc. Love it

Recently the display screen stopped…

Recently the display screen stopped working on our Harvest Rite freeze dryer. I called and was immediately connected with a technician. Tanner was awesome! Diagnosed the problem quickly and had the new parts shipped to me. He walked me through the installation and had us back up and running. Great service!

Helped me fix a pump issue

I had an issue with my pump making and noise. They had me take it apart and clean it, which was much easier than I thought. They made several calls to me to make sure everything was going well and to follow up. All of the techs were extremely patient and helpful. Pump is running quietly now!

Customer Service is great

Customer Service is great. I contacted customer service and they asked questions about what was going on with the unit and they determined that there was a problem with the refrigeration unit. They had me send it back and repaired the problem. Having a freeze dyer at home has been a great benefit for me being able to preserve my herbs and vegetables that I grow so that I have them during the winter months.

Great machine and exceptional customer service support

I purchased the Harvest Right Medium 6.0 (five-tray freeze dryer) in December 2025, and after completing 10 successful runs—a mix of both food and candy—I’ve been extremely pleased with the performance and overall experience.

The app has been very useful, making it easy to monitor runs and adjust settings as needed. Just as impressive has been Harvest Right’s online chat support, which has been quick to respond and incredibly helpful when I’ve had questions about processing times, temperatures, or general operation. Their support team clearly wants customers to succeed and stay on track with their food processing.

Customer service has truly stood out. I’ve spoken directly with Christopher Joseffy and Rachel Schwab, and both provided excellent support and followed up after our initial conversations to make sure everything was working properly. That level of follow-through is rare and very much appreciated.

Overall, Harvest Right has been responsive, knowledgeable, and committed to customer success. Based on my experience so far, I’m very happy with my Medium 6.0 freeze dryer and confident continuing to use it for both food preservation and candy processing.

Do Your Research: Our Harvest Right Experience

We paid over $5,000 for our Harvest Right freeze dryer. At the time of purchase—and still today—Harvest Right’s website and public search results clearly state that freeze dryers are covered by a 3-year limited warranty, for all units sold after February 1, 2019. This warranty representation was a major factor in our decision to buy.

We contacted Harvest Right support and opened a ticket. Initial contact occurred within 48 hours. After that, the experience became extremely frustrating.

We were told by support that we were outside a one-year warranty window and that to proceed with troubleshooting we would need to pay $45 for a technician call. This was confusing, given the clearly advertised 3-year warranty, yet support stated only one year of coverage applied. We paid the fee to move forward.

The technician walked us through troubleshooting steps and said he would consult with management. The following day, he called back and informed us the issue was definitely a refrigerant problem, meaning the unit would need to be returned for diagnosis and repair.

At that point, we were told we would be responsible for:

Finding a shipping box large enough for the unit

Sourcing a pallet

Paying shipping costs

Transporting a 300-lb machine to FedEx

We explained that the machine has not worked properly since we purchased it in January 2024, and that this seemed unreasonable. The technician asked for our freeze dryer logs.

During the next call, we were told the logs showed the machine stopped working correctly within the first six months of ownership, which is within even a one-year warranty period, let alone a three-year one. Despite this, Harvest Right only offered to pay half of the shipping cost, while still requiring us to source packaging, palletize the unit, and arrange transport ourselves.

This is unacceptable for a $5,000+ machine advertised with a 3-year warranty. When logs clearly show early failure, the manufacturer should handle return logistics—not shift the burden onto the customer.

After researching further, we found many similar reviews describing the same pattern: warranty confusion, customer-paid freight, and unresolved issues even after repairs.

We were able to successfully freeze-dry Skittles. Beyond that, the machine does not work as advertised.

In practice, there appears to be no meaningful 3-year warranty, despite what is publicly stated. If something goes wrong, customers are largely left to handle expensive, difficult logistics on their own.

If you are considering purchasing a Harvest Right freeze dryer, do thorough research and read real customer experiences carefully. This is an extremely expensive product, and the support experience does not match the warranty claims.
