Great experience visiting Hakone with Joshua!

During our recent visit to Tokyo we booked the tour to see Mt Fuji and Hakone. Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from getting a good view of Mt Fuji, but the trip to Hakone was well worth it. Joshua helped us make the best of the experience, in spite of the weather not cooperating.

Our driver, Alexis was amazing! He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very likable. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him.
I would recommend his services without hesitation. Thank you for such an enjoyable day.

My family and I recently had the most wonderful tour of Hakone and an overall great day with JP as our guide. He was super accommodating and patient with our family of 7 (which included a few tweens/teens). He shared lots of great Japanese history and insight along the way. He also took us to a local spot for lunch where we (hands down) had the best ramen of our lives. We ended the day at a local onsen (highly recommend not skipping!). Thank you Haven Japan and JP for playing a part in making our first trip to Japan absolutely amazing. ☺️

Our guide Evan was truly excellent. As a native English speaker, he spoke very clearly and understandably, and provided us with many fascinating historical and social insights about Japan, both during the journey and at the individual sights. It was especially positive that he always made sure to involve the entire group.

Due to logistical issues, he arrived about 20 minutes late, but more than made up for it: as an apology, he treated the whole group to coffee and fully made up for the lost time at the end of the tour, even adding a bit of extra time.

His flexibility and helpfulness also deserve special mention: since we had a vegan in our group, he immediately arranged a suitable restaurant for us without hesitation. He even went the extra mile by calling ahead to check whether they accepted card payments or only cash — a truly very thoughtful service.

The tour to Nikko itself is truly impressive. Anyone looking for a mix of nature, history, and a special, almost idyllic atmosphere in Japan should definitely book this excursion.

I took my four young daughters on a wonderful tour with Evan Stutt. Who is an extremely nice Canadian man that has lived here in Japan for about 10 years. First off, the pick up (and eventual drop off) process was incredibly easy. We communicated through text messaging initially and it went very well throughout the day. We set off to see Mt. Fuji and the mountain town of Hakone in the morning. After the drive up the mountain we stopped by the Mt. Fuji viewing area. Unfortunately we experienced some heavy rain during this portion of the trip so our Fuji views were minimal. However, the reality of viewing Mt. Fuji is a bit of a coin flip anyway. We then visited multiple shrines around Hakone and Evan provided insight to everything we saw. He took us to a 400 year old tea house/rest stop that travelers would visit when they traversed from Kyoto to Edo (now Tokyo). We drank a semi sweet drink called Amazake that warmed us up and gave us a boost of energy for the rest of the day. Much like the travelers would experience on the Old Tokaido Highway. Which was the dirt road that connected Kyoto and Edo. That immersive experience was very special. Our favorite part of the day though was the Onsen in Hakone. The rainy day made in difficult to see Fuji but the feeling of being in an authentic Hakone Onsen with rain falling on your head is otherworldly! It cannot be fully described. Only felt…. In general, I cannot recommend this entire experience enough! Enjoy every second of it. Thanks again Evan!!

We had a full private day trip to Mount Fuji and surrounding areas with Evan.
From start to finish the communication and organisation was brilliant. The vehicle was modern and clean. Evan was really friendly and relaxed with what our family group wanted to do. We went at our own pace, and saw some amazing things. Evan gave us a great insight into local activity and some history keeping it interesting and fun which really worked well with our 3 teenage kids.

Our two guides, Evan and Christian made this one day trip truly amazing. Both were attentive and they offered a detailed explanation on all sites. Helped us secure some gifts as well.

We had our wonderful tour guide, JP, take us out to Hakone: we visited Lake Ashi, the Hakone Shrine with the 9 headed dragon, a wonderfully traditional tea house sampling amasake (tea traditional to Hakone), a deliciously rustic lunch ending up at the onsen to round the day out. JP couldn’t have been more accommodating but moreover, I really enjoyed his vast knowledge of Japanese history, religion and mythology. A really great day all round!

A big thank you to our guide Evan who granted us the most unforgettable day we could’ve asked for. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate he still made the entire tour a beautiful experience full of Japanese history and customs. - Liam.

Evan took me to some unreal places. The back roads of pure charm and japanese trail novelty showing parks and paths that seem untouched by forigners. Looked after me the whole way. Catered, encouraged and delivered an unreal experience with depth and knowledge. A core memory. Thank you Evan.

We had a great day with Evan. He was friendly, chatty and knowledgeable and really tailored the day to our needs. We appreciated his input and insight into Japanese culture and everyday life in Japan. The highlight was the fabulous Onsen with spectacular views of Mt Fuji. What a way to end the day!

Our experience with JP was nothing short of amazing! We had a lot of fun riding in the GTR on the most iconic roads of Japan! JP was extremely knowledgable on Japanese history and shared a ton of interesting facts with us throughout the whole trip! The onsen and classic Japanese lunch were also noteworthy parts of the trip. 10/10 recommend booking here, ask for JP!

Our tour was tailored as requested and JP offered recommendations that provided a very memorable and insightful visit to Hakone. Definitely request JP if you can.

JP was so nice! Very friendly, answered all our questions. He adjusted the tour based on our timing needs and what we liked. He made recommendations as well. The van was very comfortable for the ride.

We had a really nice day trip with Cyril. He was a very easygoing and knowledgeable guide and he made it into a really special trip.

We had the most amazing day with Lucas and JP on our trip to Hakone. The scenery was breathtaking, the shrines were wonderful to walk around and the Onsen experience was fantastic. We paid a little extra for our own private Onsen which was certainly worth it.
Lucas and JP were great fun to spend time with and very knowledgable about the local area. Hugely recommended and would definitely do this one again.

We did the Hakone Day trip with Elie and it was amazing. He was super friendly and knowledgeable and took us to some truly amazing spots. You can tell how much he loves Japan and how much local knowledge he has. We saw amazing views of Mt Fuji, went to a Shinto Shrine and Japanese Tea House, and then some amazing food and Onsen experience. Would definitely recommend Haven Japan and Elie specifically as your guide. Next time we come to Japan we will be asking him to plan our entire trip! Trust him 100%.
