Male provider only interested in prescribing birth control for periomenopause symptoms
I have never been this insulted by any kind of business. Poor service or quality of service is one thing, but this company went over the top.
I wanted a prescription for progesterone as I was having really heavy painful periods during periomenopause (45). I was also having trouble sleeping. This male doctor, without any knowledge of my sexual history, said he would only prescribe birth control as I was still menstruating. I've read about things like this happening but I never experienced it and I'm just appalled that a so called medical profession is in a place to push his personal beliefs on me. I asked for a refund and was denied even though the rude comment was documented on the platform. Edward Henson is a sexist and should not be treating women.

Within 3 hours of signing up and paying $79 come to find out they can’t do more than my actual PCP. Rip off. No savings, no added benefit.

I absolutely love Hello Alpha! My providers are great. I prefer them over my local provider sometimes. They are easy and informative. They are very prompt on responding on the patient portal. They have helped me from everything from skin care, sinus infections, menopause and weight loss. I cant praise them enough!

You just lost a long time subscriber
I was VERY dissatisfied with the care I received from a certain NP on your platform. I requested a refill of Linzess 72mg. I’ve been taking this medication for 13 years! My IBS-C symptoms are stable with medication, I have absolutely no new or concerning symptoms. I’ve been using Hello Alpha for 2 years for my Linzess refills and have never had any issue until now. This NP drilled me on seeing a Gastro-which I’ve never been asked before because it’s not necessary for me to see a Gastro at this time. I’m not even in the colon cancer screening age yet. Even Dr. J-the medical director at one time refilled my med with no issues. This NP told me that this platform doesn’t manage IBS and I need to see an in-person provider. Why have I been treated for 2 years on this platform if that’s truly the case? Because of her you’ve lost a long time subscriber!! I’m an RN and I do not recommend this platform to anyone.

Doctors are great, listen to you and give you the best medicine for your condition. When I started using this service, you could pay per visit which was great. The last time I used the site, they started requiring a monthly membership which I absolutely did not want. I looked at reviews very carefully and found it was easy to cancel after paying for the first month which is what I did. I don't know what will happen in a year when I want to renew my prescription, but I hope they go back to giving a per visit option.

Misleading the Suffering
I spent $79 dollars for this service for mental health. I spent the better part of an entire hour entering in all the required information. When I tried to enter in the information on my Medicaid card, it wouldn't take. The mental health system where I'm at is absolutely AWFUL and I've threatened suicide MANY times because I'm not getting the help I need. So I decided to go AROUND Medicaid by paying the $79 out-of-pocket each month to get the mental health services I DESPARATELY needed from Hello Alpha.
I paid $79 a month to Hello Alpha, which claims that they are all about inclusion. I spent 45 minutes online at their website filling out forms so that I could have my "visit" with a counselor, which seemed to be what they offered since they used the word "visit."
After answering all the questions, it asked me if I wanted to use a Medicaid card. I checked "no." I wanted to pay the $79 a month out of pocket because all the counseling clinics that I've been to in the state of Georgia where I now unfortunately live are AWFUL.
However, the next page at the site prompted me to enter my Medicaid card. I don't know why because I clearly checked "no" when I was prompted. They didn't take Medicaid, so obviously it didn't work. I just wanted to pay the $79 to get around Medicaid so that I would get the help I need so I didn't feel like committing suicide anymore.
After this disappointment, I pleaded my case to them in an online message because they never have anyone to speak to on the phone. When I finally got a reply, I saw that they left a voicemail and I called them back.
They said that they don't take Medicaid, but if I paid the $79 a month I could get in. After some more conversation, she told me that they DON'T do counselling-- ONLY medication management. I told her that Hello Alpha was sending the message that they have counselors and that they are all about inclusion. I said that not offering counseling and only medication management isn't very "inclusive," especially noting that they don't treat people who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder AT ALL. How the hell is that "inclusive?"
In the end she apologized and mentioned a couple other online resources that I could try, but she said she doesn't know if they accept Medicaid and if not, she didn't know how much it would cost. How does that help ME?
In the end I faced the usual situation-- Having to start ALL OVER AGAIN to look for help that may not be available to me (AGAIN) and that I possibly CANNOT AFFORD (AGAIN). To sum up, Hello Alpha has misleading language on their website that leads those wanting help astray, which is a cruel tease for those at the end of their rope.

Insurance wouldn’t cover medicine. Asked them to prescribe me a medication that was covered under my insurance and they refused. Waste of $80 and was told they wouldn’t refund my money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Feels a bit scammy
I had this membership when it was $40 a month. At that time, I was able to get what I wanted sent where I wanted. I realize things have changed as far as what prescriptions are available but at my most recent visit, at $80, I was told I had to have my prescription sent to their preferred pharmacy. They also tried to push the “3-month” plan. I told them I wanted my pharmacy, as it asks where I’d like my medications sent and was told they were unable to do that. Of course, the price at their pharmacy was more than I was quoted at my pharmacy. Needless to say, I cancelled my membership. Also got the prescription I wanted to the pharmacy I wanted at a much better price. Save your money and go elsewhere. They are just like the others now, looking to make a quick buck.

Feels Like a Bot Service — Total Waste of Money
This was an absolute waste of money. Hello Alpha made me feel like I was talking to bots, not real healthcare professionals. There is no guidance, no clarity, and no real support — just vague messages from nurses who seem to copy-paste replies that don’t even address your actual questions.
They do not have doctors available so dont expect your plus membership to be comprehensive or even provide referrals, only nurse practitioners, and even then, they don’t advocate or guide you through anything. There is no transparency, preparation, no explanation of what to expect, nothing sent by mail or email, just short messages that leave you completely confused about what’s happening.
When my insurance didn’t cover the medication, I was told to “do the appeal myself” — no help, no roadmap, no documentation unless I begged repeatedly. I was left completely on my own with zero support, a complete wate of time, funds, and energy. They did nothing for me — literally, nothing.
This program is disorganized, robotic, and deeply disappointing. If you're looking for real healthcare support, this is NOT it. You’re better off finding an actual doctor or specialist who will take the time to care.
Avoid this service. They take your money and leave you hanging.
Hello Alpha, more like Goodbye Beta. I would NEVER recommend this sham so called service.
Being a medical professional means educating, supporting, and simplifying complex issues for patients — but Hello Alpha did none of that. They don’t care. It’s a subscription mill, not real care. Avoid at all costs.
