The latest Homey Pro is a disaster!

A stable internet connection is essential to get the most out of this device, yet its Wi-Fi performance is actually worse than its predecessor. It seems the new generation of Homey struggles with modern Wi-Fi setups.

Despite placing my Homey Pro close to the router, disabling advanced Wi-Fi settings, prioritizing it on my network, assigning a fixed IP, and trying every possible optimization, the connection still drops multiple times a day. As a result, I sometimes can’t even open my garage door when I need to!

I reached out to the support department, hoping for a solution, but this only added to my frustration. Their suggestions were either obvious things I had already tried or overly complex workarounds, with no real acknowledgment of the issue. Despite many other users reporting the same problem, they seem unwilling to recognize it as a real concern.

For a premium smart home hub, this level of unreliability is unacceptable. I hope Homey addresses these issues with a firmware update soon.

Update: I created a separate IoT network for Homey to enhance stability. While this provides a more reliable experience, a major downside is the loss of functionality. Since the IoT network cannot access the standard WiFi network, devices like receivers, HEOS, and SONOS are unable to communicate properly.

Man, I can indeed imagine that that indeed is not ideal! I don't know if you've tried it already, but I have two possible solutions if Wi-Fi keeps acting up in your network:
1) rename your 5GHz Wi-Fi network to SSID-5GHz and keep your 2.4GHz the SSID it currently is. Sometimes it helps having your different bands not on the same SSID.
2) Get in touch with our support for your issues through our website. They might be able to check some network settings with you, and else we'll solve it, for instance with an Ethernet Adapter.

We're here to help everyone get the best Homey experience possible, because our users only deserve te best. I really hope that you're able to fix is, because when it works, it's perfect (ofc. my home runs on it as well :) )

Well worth the investment

Well worth the investment, that looks a lot (!) less once you start working with Homey. It replaced other hubs into one multiplatform system connected almost all products out there, whatever the protocol it uses. And lots of flexibility and functionality programming the whole to suit your needs and desires.
Only Tuya should become smart enough to also open up their doors to this platform and offer a smooth integration as all others did before them.

Very good product

For me a very good solution for my Smart Home. Have the Homey Pro Early 2023 now for about 9 months and everything works fine and a very, very good support from Athom and the community. I hope this will remain till ends of time😃😃

Werkelijk erg slechte service

Werkelijk erg slechte service. Je kunt ze geen mailtje sturen. Contact vind plaats in het Engels en je moet naar het formulier zoeken in pagina's die ervoor gemaakt zijn zodat je vooral geen contact op neemt.
Als het dan toch lukt reageren ze pas na 2 weken.

Reactie op onderstaand: dit veranderd niks aan het feit dat het formulier zo ver mogelijk weggewerkt is, dat jullie geen mails accepteren en dat het onacceptabel is om 2 weken te doen om te antwoorden. Al ruim voor de feestdagen was jullie reactiesnelheid traag.
Dat jullie voor het ook van de mensen op Trustpilot, wel snel reageren is veelzeggend. Doe dat nu ook maar eens op de support afdeling.

Hoewel het support form in het Engels is om zoveel mogelijk mensen te kunnen helpen, kun deze gewoon in het Nederlands invullen om in het Nederlands door ons geholpen te worden hoor, geen probleem!

Uiteraard willen we iedereen binnen een dag reactie geven op een vraag via ons support form, maar omdat we met echte mensen werken en de feestdagen zowel vrije dagen zijn voor mensen én een heeeele drukke periode qua nieuwe Homey-gebruikers, is op dit moment nogal druk. We werken hier gestaag doorheen, en zodra een ticket van je opgepakt is krijg je ook steeds snel weer antwoord terug totdat het opgelost is. En uiteraard werken we keihard met ons team om weer iedereen mooi binnen een dag te kunnen helpen.

Ik hoop dat je snel geholpen wordt met je vraag. Mocht je goed geholpen zijn dan zouden wij het erg waarderen als je je review en rating hier aan kunt passen om onze inzet te belonen (zelfs als we ondanks deze op dit moment een lichte achterstand hebben. Het blijft mensenwerk after all)

Har gått från Fibaro HC2 till HC3

Har gått från HC2 till HC3 och Fibaro lovade ängar och gröna skogar, inget riktigt bra gav de, känns som företaget bara skiter i allt idag.
enda positiva är att deras gamla App/Webb gränssnitt samt att kunna ha flera värden i samma rutor saknas i Homey i skrivande stund, men är något de förmodligen jobbar på.

Så övergången till Homey Pro har varit relativt smärtfri.
har stöd för många förekommande märken från Z-Wave, Zigbee, Blåtand, Wifi prylar utan tillverkarnas egna special hubbar vilket gör urvalet av produkter större då Z-Wave är orimligt dyra, MEN de är stabilare!
Tempgivare osv i ZigBee fungerar bra och är billiga.

Rekommenderas starkt!
Man får svar på frågor (Support) relativt fort med.
Bra forum med många kunniga människor som dessutom är trevligare än i många andra grupper idag.

Relativt lätt att fixa olika scener, programmera in tänd och släck samt och eller.

Cannot recommend this company

Never received my order placed on 11/25/24 for Christmas present (writing this 12/31/24). Have sent several email messages (the only option available), and have received the same automated message each time saying someone will be in contact in 1-3 business days. Nope, no contact. Worried I’ve lost my money on a scam company.

Homey is erg teleurstellend.

Mijn ervaring met Homey is meer dat uiterst teleurgesteld. Het apparaat doet absoluut niet wat zij beloven. Vervolgens houdt Homey zich ook niet aan geldende regels.

Het was voor mij eens maar nooit meer.

Fænomenalt produkt

Fænomenalt produkt. Meget aktivt community og engageret virksomhed. Pas på med at købe ind på det med formålet at bruge en bestemt app, da mange apps er udviklet af en enkelt privat person og de kan plduselig holde op med at virke eller være meget ustabile. Så længe du ikke gør dig alt for afhængig, så skal du nok blive glad for det.

Ik val stil…..

Nu inmiddels een jaar de “gelukkige” bezitter van Homey Pro 2023. Ik heb meerdere apps geïnstalleerd. Regelmatig word ik “verrast” dat de app van Shelly compleet verdwenen is. Het is een ramp om deze te herinstalleren. Fora weten geen oplossing en via Support komt geen oplossing tot nu toe. Jammer voor een product van deze prijsklasse…..

No product received, no support...

I have rarely come across something worse in new customer experience as this company.

Not only after many days the Homey was shipped the tracking number provided does not exist, but you also can not contact them.

Their Auto reply is that you have a waiting time for replies of 3 WEEKS!!!, excuse me what?

Also no replies on social media of course...regardless how good that device might be, with a support like that, I would not want it anymore for free.

I think the only choice I have now is to claim money back from my card provider, as this is more than ridiculous and more of a scam than anything else.

Obviously we're not running a scam here, but unfortunately due to some illness in our Technical Support Team and a huuuuuuge influx of new customers over these past couple of weeks, we have gathered a bit of a backlog, as we work with actual humans in our team.

That being said, 3 weeks is our worst-case time for taking up tickets, and I'm pretty sure order-related questions are answered in a shorter timeframe.

I trust that the people in our support team are able to help you well with your order, and make sure you will receive information on your order as well as your device as soon as possible. Even thought it's super busy, I hope that you receive the 5-star service you and every Homey customer deserves. If so, it would be great if you could update your review here as well, as we're working hard to bring the best product to the best people, but sometimes reality hits in and our support processing times become longer than we want as well.

Innovatie en frustratie

Ik heb de Homey Pro 2023 vorig jaar gekocht met een kleine korting, nadat mijn Homey Pro 2019 onherstelbaar defect bleek. Dat laatste was op zich al teleurstellend voor een apparaat in deze prijsklasse. Helaas is mijn ervaring met de nieuwe Homey Pro 2023 tot nu toe ook verre van vlekkeloos.

De Homey start regelmatig opnieuw op, soms meerdere keren per dag. Dit had als gevolg dat flows niet of slechts gedeeltelijk werden uitgevoerd, wat de functionaliteit van mijn “slimme” huis aanzienlijk verminderde. Nadat ik de Homey in het zicht had geplaatst, bleek dat het probleem structureel was.
.
Ik heb meerdere e-mails uitgewisseld met Rosalinda van de klantenservice, die zeer behulpzaam was. Samen hebben we geprobeerd het probleem op te lossen door onder andere de firmware opnieuw te installeren en een nieuwe toegestuurde stekker te gebruiken. Ondanks deze inspanningen bleef het probleem bestaan.

Toen ik vervolgens meerdere diagnostische rapporten stuurde (direct na een herstart), bleek Athom niet in staat om de oorzaak te achterhalen. Dit is frustrerend, vooral omdat een apparaat dat als het “hart van je slimme huis” dient, betrouwbaar moet zijn.

De enige overgebleven optie was om de Homey op te sturen voor onderzoek. Dit betekent echter dat je huis tijdelijk “dom” wordt, omdat je zelf alles handmatig moet bedienen: verlichting, rolluiken, sloten, enzovoort. Athom bood aan om een refurbished apparaat op te sturen als vervanging, maar ik geef de voorkeur aan mijn eigen apparaat.
.
Ik gaf aan dat ik de Homey na het weekend zou opsturen, maar mijn ervaring met Daphne, die het contact overnam van Rosalinda, was ronduit teleurstellend. In haar eerste mail zette ze direct de toon door strijdlustig te reageren. Deze benadering was niet alleen onprofessioneel, maar ook onnodig.

Tot mijn verbazing werkt de Homey nu al vijf dagen zonder problemen. Dit maakt de situatie nog lastiger, want als ik het apparaat opstuur, ben ik er niet van overtuigd dat Athom het probleem kan vinden, gezien hun eerdere moeite om een oorzaak vast te stellen.

Hoewel ik de inspanningen van Rosalinda waardeer, is de algehele klantenservice blijkbaar anders.

Update 03-12-2024:

Terwijl ik dit review schreef, ontdekte ik dat er al eerder een e-mail binnen was gekomen waarin werd aangegeven dat mijn vraag is doorgezet naar de hoofd operations. Deze persoon zal contact met mij opnemen. Ik zag deze e-mail echter pas vandaag en wacht nu het verdere verloop af.

Inmiddels mail gehad van Marc, de head of operations. Jammer genoeg heeft deze mail geen nieuwe informatie opgeleverd, aangezien hij niets kon toevoegen wat ik niet al wist. Ik heb vervolgens nogmaals aangegeven dat het opsturen van de Homey geen zin heeft, omdat het apparaat al 8 dagen online is en Athom niets heeft kunnen vinden in de diagnostische rapporten.

Förstår inte deras höga betyg, oerhört begränsad

Jag har aldrig slösat så mycket pengar på en pryl som inte funkar innan. Köpte Homey pro, den kan i princip inte kopplas ihop med en enda pryl hemma.. eller jo EN, en pryl av typ ca 30 intelligenta wifi/Bluetooth enheter. De måste tillhandahålla en app för att man ska kunna koppla ihop, och de har inga av apparna som kopplar. Tex SONY högtalare. Vi har smarta lampor, eluttag, ringklocka, brandvarnare och inget funkar utöver grabbens shield.

And to respond, the problem is, even devices that are compatible and do have an app, is not working. Fx I just connected an IKEA trådlös.. it shows up, but there is nothing I can do, I can't fix turn on or off which you would expect. So why do I have a Homey that does nothing but show a little square with the device that I can't operate.

We're sad to hear that not all your products work with Homey Pro. Please note that you can simply browse our app store at homey.app/apps to see what is compatible, also before you buy the device. Unfortunately we cannot do magic, and we need to work together with brands to make sure things work together. Homey Pro works with devices from thousands of brands, but not all of them in the world – there will surely be some brands that we're not integrated with, yet.

It would be hugely appreciated if you could inform us what brands you tried to connect that do not work. Then, we could see if we can create these integrations. Also, you Sony TV should at least work via the built-in Infrared LED in Homey Pro to control it, together with your lights that also seem to work?

We hope to be able to give you a better experience if we know the device you'd want integrated, and appreciate it if you could update your review and rating based on your continued experience :)

Homey Pro does not work and support does not care

First my Homey Pro 2023 does not work with my Matter over wifi devices and second the support does not even respond anymore. Like this the pricy device is simply useless and a waste of money. :-(

Obviously it's very frustrated if Homey Pro does not work correctly with your Matter devices and it feels like you're not helped! I can't see into your exact situation here on Trustpilot of course, but you should be able to pair Matter-over-WiFi devices with you Homey Pro by going to devices - add a device, choose 'Homey' and then Matter.

If this does not work for you, please do indeed contact support with as much information and screenshots / screencasts of what is happening. At the moment, our response-times are a bit longer than we'd want, but we're working hard to diligently answer all incoming tickets, so you will be answered.

I hope your Homey Pro can get back to proper operation soon, and your experience can go back to the 5 stars we're always aiming for!

Alt for ustabil og prisen kan vanskelig forsvares. Bytter til ett annet system etter flere år med utfordringer. Selgerleddet henviser konsekvent til Homey support, og Homey support viser til selger. Homey support er behjelpelige til ett visst punkt, men aldri dithen at det er aktuelt å reparere eller bytte produktet. Kan ikke anbefale dette videre. Med mindre du har masse tid å kaste bort på endeløs feilsøking.

We regret to hear your experience with Homey, as the instability you mention is not how our hundreds of thousands of other, happy, users experience Homey! I see you've been in touch with our support. Now, I don't know your case exactly, but it could be that our support team believes a repair / return does not solve anything, as the issues might not be related to your specific unit, but to other (external/environmental) factors. If you're sure this is not the case, please contact us again with reference to your earlier cases and this response, so we can dive into it deeper. Usually, our support team is pretty keen on what can and cannot be fixed by a (software / hardware) repair.

I hope you get to a stable system at the end of the day. For instance by checking if some of your (community) apps on your device create instability, or specific nodes in your Zigbee/Z-Wave network. Did you already try making your Wi-Fi SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5GHz separately, and connecting Homey to the 2.4GHz network? Sometimes that solves stability issues as well.

I have been using Homey Early 2019 for 3 years

I have been using Homey Early 2019 for a number of years, got addicted, have many devices and flows filling up memory and storage. with the offer where every 10th homey would be refunded, I thought now is the time to switch. Not thinking I would be one of the lucky ones, until I received an email this week that I was one of the 10th and my purchase amount will be refunded. Always have been happy with Homey, but this made my day, it probably means more devices. Thanks Athom and up to the next 10 year.
