Took two because we stayed for 45 days in Japan :) Never lost signals and we got plenty of bandwidth. I was traveling with my partner and he bought it too. Even deep in the country side, always good signal!

I have used the Journey Japan Esim for almost 5 months straight now. I am abroad in Japan for school and my Tmobile/Softbank sim just wasn't cutting it...
With the JJESIM, I can watch as many videos as I want, quiclly translate phrases, get accurate real time instructions from Google maps, and communicate with my friends quickly. Anything you would need the internet for, you can do with JJESIM.
I chose the JJESIM because Abroad in Japan produces the highest quality "living in Japan" content I've ever seen and I love it. I chose to trust the maker of this Esim and I have NOT been disappointed. Even when I am in an underground bar in a rural city, I have data/service thanks to the JJESIM. Its done better than my American Sim does back in USA! I highly reccomend the unlimited plan.

I bought 20gb each for me and my brother for our Japan trip in the summer, we activated our esims with no problems as soon as we arrived at Haneda airport and it really helped make our trip smooth, keeping us connected at all times whether we were navigating the busy streets of Tokyo or answering video calls with family on our way up to some hidden shrines in the countryside, I can’t see us using anything other than JJ eSim on future trips.

Worked exactly as described. No problems at all. Easy to install and did not notice any loss in coverage.

Simple to activate and easy to use, Data coverage was occasionally spotty and slow. I went for 2 and a half weeks on my first trip to Japan, travelling various locations on the golden route and off it. Despite having chosen an unlimited data plan it really didn't *feel* so unlimited as I noticed measurable slowdowns past a certain point in the day seperate from how busy it was around me. Also, if you expect to go to rural areas, As I spent a day in Kinchakuda, Saitama, don't expect your data to not cut out.

I made 2.5 week journey, mainly focused on Kyushu region. Installation and taking the eSIM into use were quite effortless. Overall the eSIM worked fine.
There were some connecting issues once in a while in 'more remote places' such as Yufuin village, Kagoshima and Beppu. Also crowded locations (hotels (using wifi is better), Dotonbori, etc.) slowed down the connection quite a bit.

I used the 20g esim for my 2 week trip in Japan. I had no performance issues, no dramas using what's app to contact family, played heaps of pokemon go and still had heaps of data remaining when I left. Highly recommend and the service team are quick to sort out any problems if they arise.

I visited Japan in 2024 and with no knowledge of what products were available for data there, ended up spending more than £200 on small roaming data packages from my provider.

During 2025, I learned of Journey Japan eSIM, and bought the 50GB package before going away on this year's trip - at $49, or about £36, less than a fifth the price of what I spent last year.

If that alone had been the benefit it would have been worth it, but it was also faultless for the three weeks I was travelling. Great coverage, fast data, and totally reliable. Easy to set up too - I just switched from my existing eSIM to the JJ one when I landed, and it connected to the network immediately.

Several friends are going to Japan in 2026, and I will be recommending Journey Japan eSIM to all of them.

Very easy to install and use. Was also very affordable. Chris Broad put his name on this product because it's actually good. I had never trusted eSIMs and always went with the physical SIMs until this year, and was pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was.

My one suggestion for anyone using it is to purchase slightly more data than you expect you'll need -- we underestimated how much we needed, but our hotel turned out to have bad wifi, so that ate into our data usage a lot. But It was easy for us to top-up our data via the eSIM website.

Easy to set up and no issues with coverage in Tokyo, Kyoto or Iseshi. When I visit next year I’ll definitely be getting another Journey Japan eSIM.

We visited Japan in September and I got a $50 plan for my wife and myself and it easily covered all our requirements for travelling around Japan. Easy setup, great connection everywhere. Didn't once have to worry about running out of data, or not being able to connect. Would definitely use again!

This was my first time using an eSIM while traveling throughout Japan. Previously I used pocket wifi, but on my last trip the pocket WiFi company mailed me a locked device. I decided to do eSIM after that issue for less hassle and stress. The whole process was great. No standing in line at an airport to pick up a device, no need to continually charge another device, and full coverage everywhere I traveled.

The moment I switched my phone over to the eSIM, I had fast, reliable data for the whole trip. I traveled from Tokyo, to Hiroshima, matsuyama, imabari, and several other places without any drop in service. I plan to use this eSIM again on my future trips. 10/10 would recommend

We used Journey Japan eSIM for our 4 week trip to Japan and it worked perfectly from start to finish. Set up was easy with no issues, and the cell service was excellent all across Japan (including more rural areas). Highly recommend to anyone coming to Japan, we found it to be very reliable and made travelling around much easier.

Sorry to leave a one star review, my partner also purchased this same eSim and had a great experience.

We recently took a 22 day trip to Japan, so we each purchased this eSim.

My partner received their email with the activation info immediately, but mine did not arrive.

Once we arrived in Japan, I tried again to see if my email had arrived but it had not.

I had to react and purchase a sim in person from Narita Airport as I could not get in touch with Journey eSim reps.

I was finally able to get in touch with a rep 9 days later, and was informed that even though my activation email did not arrive, there was no system in place for returns or refunds. It's disappointing to lose money for a product I never received.

Again, my partner had the same eSim and it was great, I however did not receive the product in a timely fashion so I cannot rate the product highly.

Went on a month long trip to Japan this summer, which took us from Sapporo, in Hokkaida, to Osaka, to Kyoto and Tokyo, all the way through using the JJ eSIM, and never even had to think about it, because it just worked. Really fast and completely reliable.

After following the Abroad in Japan Youtube Channel for quite some time I decided to give the eSIM service a try and bought the 10GB plan a day before the flight to Tokyo. The setup took less than 5 minutes and after arriving at Narita Airport the eSIM worked right away. During my 2 week stay in Tokyo and the Kansai region I had no issues with reception. The price is pretty close to large eSIM competitors and since Journey Japan focuses on just one country instead of worlwide coverage it felt like the most reliable choice.

We just got back from our trip to Japan. We were researching eSims to see which one would be best for us, and it so happened that Chris announced their eSim a few weeks before we were set to leave. That made out decision easier.

Overall, it worked perfectly!
We were there for two full weeks.
I am not a streamer or have a need for tons of data due to work, but I do use social media apps, the internet and google maps. I ended up choosing the option of 10GB of data, since my husband used Google maps for us on his phone majority of the time, and I think I only ended up using about 8GB by the time we returned.

If you will be using Google maps on your phone a lot, and also staying two weeks, I would go with the plan that has 20 GB or the Unlimited plan.

I will say that there were a couple of instances where my husband and I both lost service entirely. Once when we were in Osaka, a couple of times when we were at Tokyo Disney Sea, and on occasion when we would be passing through a tunnel on the train.

What we noticed is that, during most instances we were in a huge crowd of people. Unsure if being in crowded places affects the service in some way? So I would just be mindful of that. The outage of service didn't last long, as soon as we were out of the group of people, or the tunnel, the service returned.

If we return to Japan in the future, I am sure we would get this eSim again.

Have used JJeSim twice on two separate trips to Japan and will continue to do so in the future!
