Had horrible ER visit
Had horrible ER visit. Went there due to heart pain. Was ordered a x- ray. During the X-ray procedure, I experienced a serious violation of privacy and dignity. A male technician
instructed me to remove my bra and change into a gown, then left the room for the control area. No
private changing area was provided. While attempting to comply, I was half naked when the hallway door
unexpectedly opened. This caused significant distress while I was in a vulnerable medical condition. And for EKG,X-ray and blood work, without being seen by a doctor because I left after waiting for 7 hours, Kaiser charged insurance $7000 and insurance gave $4000 because Kaiser is out of network. For that quality of service, Kaiser has the gut to charge $7000
There's something seriously wrong with Kaiser health care
There's something seriously wrong with Kaiser when it comes to lengthy wait times for outpatient surgery appointments. I've had three minor surgical operations on my hands over the years, all basically the same thing. Carpel tunnel syndrome. The operation is basically 30-45 mins and go home immediately. My latest appointment was scheduled 10 weeks ahead. TEN WEEKS! I looked up the records for the previous surgeries and the schedule times were 4 weeks and 4 weeks. Even more frustrating is the pre-op visit. The first two took maybe 15-20 minutes, one with the surgeon and one with a PA. In both cases they spent time examining my finger, asking questions, explaining the surgical process and recovery. My last pre-op was by a PA and, this is NO exageration, she was in the examination room for not more than 5 minutes. Walked in, logged onto the computer, confirmed which finger (didn't ask to look at it), I asked one question which she took no more than 15 seconds to answer, said "what do you want, a cortisone shot or surgery?". I said surgery, she logged off the computer, said to expect a call for scheduling within two days, and left. This is not normal health care, this not a doctor visit and 10 weeks to schedule is almost criminal. What really angers me is that my finger has gotten progressivly more painful to the point that it can be agonizing and I still have three weeks to go.
Concerns About Patient Support and Follow-Up CareOver the past years
Over the past years, I have had ongoing frustrations with communication, follow-up, and responsiveness regarding my care at Kaiser. While some providers and staff have been professional and kind, I often felt that I had to repeatedly push, follow up, and advocate for concerns that should have been addressed more proactively.
One of the biggest concerns involved my request for micronutrient testing. I repeatedly asked my doctor over several messages to look deeper into possible deficiencies because I had been experiencing low energy, fatigue, brain fog, and not feeling well overall. I often felt my concerns and wishes were not being taken seriously enough or were being minimized. I wanted to better understand what was happening in my body, but it felt difficult to get these concerns fully acknowledged before the testing was finally done.
In the past, I was also prescribed medication commonly used for depression when I reported feeling tired and low energy. I later looked into the medication myself and chose not to take it because I did not feel comfortable starting that type of treatment without first understanding whether there could be underlying nutritional deficiencies or other causes contributing to my symptoms. I believe there should be more effort to investigate root causes instead of quickly moving toward medications that may carry additional side effects or long-term implications for some patients.
After the micronutrient tests were finally completed, I later discovered on my own — months afterward — that my vitamin B12 levels were low. I was never directly contacted about it, and the information had apparently been placed in an inbox section that I did not normally check and was separate from where I usually receive test results. During those months, I continued feeling unwell, fatigued, and lacking energy without realizing there was a documented deficiency.
Once I discovered the low B12 result myself, I contacted my doctor again and had to advocate for treatment, including vitamin B12 injections. I also felt I had to push repeatedly to receive more appropriate treatment frequency at the beginning while my levels improved. The process became emotionally exhausting and made me feel like I constantly had to argue to receive adequate support and follow-up care.
Even now, I still feel concerned that the focus has mainly been on treating the deficiency itself rather than helping determine why the deficiency happened in the first place. As a patient, I would like to better understand the root cause of ongoing deficiencies and symptoms instead of only managing the result.
I also recently experienced difficulty obtaining clear guidance regarding work documentation during a period of stress and illness. I understand there are limitations when a patient is not physically seen the same day, but the note I ultimately received was so limited that I ended up not using it because I felt it could potentially create more problems at work instead of helping clarify the situation. I believe clearer communication about documentation policies, telehealth options, and patient guidance would have been more helpful.
Overall, I believe Kaiser could improve communication, patient follow-up, responsiveness to ongoing symptoms, and support for patients dealing with fatigue, stress, burnout, or deficiencies that may significantly impact daily life. Patients should not feel like they have to repeatedly fight to be heard or fully understand their own medical results and treatment options.
Decatur is nature than other locations…
Decatur is more personable than other locations Patrika Anderson helped organize let me get names& how to go get info i needed.
Communication can be challenged at other locations. Otherwise great care. Decatur was the best.
Wait time for Appointments and getting…
Wait time for Appointments and getting a timely schuduled surgery date.
I wait at times up to 3 months to get appointments and worst of all waiting for a surgery date. I need a Prostate and Hydrocele surgery and I've been waiting four months and was told it's usually a six month waiting period and that's just to get a date who knows how far out the actual surgery will be once you finally get your schuduled surgery date. Getting very disappointed in Kaiser. At this point I can not recommend Kaiser. I've been with Kaiser for quite some and considering searching for a new medical facility.
Have a GREAT Day!!!

Kaiser Permanente is the worst
Kaiser Permanente is the worst, doctors simply read reports of their colleagues and go along with the findings without thinking outside the box of treating my symptoms. I know what I’m experiencing yet it’s being annoyed. I strongly do not recommend this health insurance.
Kaiser needs to be put out of business
Kaiser needs to be put out of business. They have our primary care doctor listed as a Kaiser Doc but as we live on an island with no Kaiser clinic and he works at a local clinic we are constantly being told we do not have a Kaiser doctor. After my husband was diagnosed with Stage Four pancreatic Cancer through Kaiser Urgent care (we went there because the local clinic kept sending an urgent order but Kaiser’s system did not “find” that order til three working days later), we were told why no-one called us was because our case is complicated by not having a Kaiser Doctor although he is listed as a Kaiser Doctor on their OWN list of doctors. We are devastated by the diagnosis let alone the run around from not calling us to saying they can’t do appointments any sooner due to our not having a kaiser doctor!! Terrible company and I would not advise any senior to enroll in their plan. Too few people providing services, lying about those services and totally unprepared for anyone who advocates for themselves! Horrible!!!
I would not recommend this place to Anyone
I would not recommend this place to anyone Kaiser Permanente is the worst place every I go to the one in Silver Spring Md 12201 plum orchard dr they don’t explain lab results I have very low labs no one explained anything to me I had to call them to put in my order for medication I’m upset and disappointed in my primary care doctor they just want the money I call the nurse practitioner she was very dismissive of me while I’m trying to ask for help this place needs to be SHUT DOWN. They just don’t care about patients it’s very sad rude and disrespectful of someone’s health.
I had a procedure done for my cataracts…
I had a procedure done for my cataracts at Kaiser on Franklin Street and it was the most horrible experience in my life. first of all they rushed me in said I was late but I wasn't and then it felt like I was a cattle being allured or whatever into the room and nobody explained anything. none of the process. they were all talking about their own personal business and I was terrified.
Kaiser Enrollment Issue
May 8, 2026: We were happy that I ended up talking to Supervisor Evelyn, she not only resolved the issue but also provided me credit for the month I were double insured. Thanks.
Original Post:
This is not a review for Medical Service itself but on an unenrollment issue. Kaiser staff has been very friendly and helpful during this problem but none have been able to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, this issue is costing me more than $1,100 per month and I was told by Kaiser to continue paying this if I do not want my spouse's coverage to end.
My wife retired from Kaiser Permanente about 2 years ago. I was already retired and although I was eligible to enroll in Medicare (and had enrolled in Medicare Part A when I turned 65 years old) I was receiving Medical, Dental and Vision coverage through Kaiser per my wife’s employment with Kaiser. After my wife retired we both enrolled for coverage through Kaiser per COBRA regulation. Our COBRA coverage ended 6 months ago and we filed for Kaiser coverage per Cal-COBRA regulations. Kaiser provided us medical coverage per Cal-COBRA and was expected to continue for 18 months. There were no significant issues with the medical service provided by Kaiser, however, in the last 2 months we have had a major issue not related to medical care itself.
We were on a planned international trip from early January 2026 through early February 2026. When we returned home in Feb 2026 our collected mail included a letter from Kaiser Permanente stating that “the group agreement/policy between your employer, Kaiser Permanente Salaried – 8 and Kaiser Permanente will end on January 1, 2026 at 12:01 am. As a result, the following covered dependents (as stated below) will lose their coverage on this date.”
Name Medical Record Number Effective Date
Ex-Employee’s Name 11-000xxxxxxx January 1, 2006
Spouse’s Name 11-000xxxxxxx January 1, 2006
This letter was dated January 7, 2026, although it announced the end of coverage effective January 1, 2026. I immediately called the Kaiser Member Services Telephone Number provided in the letter. The Kaiser operator did not have any explanation for why our coverage was terminated other than what was stated in the letter as they could also pull up the letter on their monitor.
Since we did not have medical coverage, I immediately enrolled both of us in Kaiser medical plan for individuals and families. I also lodged a complaint to Kaiser that an internal issue between two Kaiser entities should not deprive us of our rights under the Cal-COBRA regulations. Since I was eligible for Medicare, I also applied for medical coverage for Medicare Part B and received a reply that Medicare had received my application and would let me know about their decision on providing medical coverage for me in a short time.
In a few days I received confirmation from Medicare that I was now enrolled in Medicare Part B. I also enrolled in Medicare Part D and Medigap Part G.
Once it was confirmed that I was enrolled in Medicare Part B I have called Kaiser multiple times and spent 4 or 5 hours on the phone with Kaiser personnel trying to terminate my insurance coverage with Kaiser without terminating my wife’s coverage and it seems like an impossible task.
Kaiser staff was always very friendly and helpful and I was told multiple times by Kaiser Member Services that the request to remove my coverage has been initiated but somehow my coverage has not been ended. Once I was even told to contact Kaiser Human Resources as this was an employee issue. I called Kaiser Human Resources but they referred me back to Kaiser Member Services. In this process I have coverage from both Medicare and Kaiser and have paid Kaiser more than $1,100 for April 2026 and am told to pay up for my coverage for May 2026 so that my wife’s insurance is not jeopardized.
My experiences with Kaiser have been mostly very positive!! I have a GREAT Dr.
My experiences with Kaiser have been mostly VERY POSITIVE!!! My Dr. is exceptional, so friendly , easy to talk to and truly cares about my life and health.
I feel I have always had really good care within the 13 years I have been with Kaiser.
I rated it 4 instead of 5 because I have been having trouble getting an ER bill paid to those providers, because my insurance was not updated from Aetna 13 years ago and the hospital didn't update my records to Kaiser from my ER visit yet.
SAD TO SEE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BECAUSE ...
It is sad to read so many negative one-star reviews when my experience of Kaiser Permanente in northern Virginia has been nothing short of spectacular. It should worry KP immensely that it has earned infamy for not responding to negative reviews. That is just shocking management.
In my case service over the past five months has been unparalleled, both from doctors, specialists and nurses and from support staff. Although occasionally slow, counterintuitive and clunky, online interactions have been prompt, accurate and really helpful. Even KP pharmacies, often failing by not having adequate supplies of prescribed medicines, have largely risen to the challenge - especially around mailbox delivery of refills.
One can only hope KP in NoVA maintains this level of care.
I have NEVR had a good experience with KP…
I have NEVR had a good experience with KP…
I have only ever taken them as a health insurance provider because they are one of the lowest cost, and it shows in their care. I’ve always just prayed while under their insurance that I don’t get sick or have health needs. They would rather get the $$$ of treating an obese patient than prescribe Ozempic. If they can “manage” an issue after it’s come up rather than “prevent” an issue from happening, that’s how they will manage you, for the bonus bucks.
Kaiser Permante are liars and thieves
Kaiser Permante are liars and thieves. They will give you a referral and find a way to not pay for it, even though you did exactly as they instructed you to do. You are then left with a bill for thousands of dollars to have to pay out of pocket. Do not trust Kaiser Permante!!!
Kaiser should be investigated as a Criminal Organization
Their whole operation tries to get you to use their app and website. Their app and website are garbage (freeze, endless loop). This time around I couldn't log into the app "system error" and the website froze when I tried to make a payment. Supposedly my medication is being delivered tomorrow. It took me 3.5 months to get it after having been on it for over a year prior to switching to Kaiser from Cigna.
Who would have thought having your doctor, insurance and pharmacy all be the same company was a bad idea????
Update: After being told my medication was being shipped (not the first time) I received a text saying there is a payment issue. I called the phone number in the text. The automated prompt told me the medication was scheduled to ship. I reached out for a person. They told me I needed to pay $60 over the phone to release the medication. I asked for email documentation. I was told it could only be mailed with the medication. Luck would have it i was performing work at a Kaiser facility. I went to their pharmacy. After more back and fourth, and pleading I walked away with a 3 month supply for $90 out of pocket. I had already been to the pharmacy in my city. They didn't have it and directed me to the mail service. My favorite line I keep hearing from the pharmacy people is I need to talk to my insurance...You are my insurance.
Update: I tried again to pay my bill on the app. When I clicked to submit all I got was the spinning wheel of death. I am genuinely impressed how bad these guys are. It would take less effort to provide descent service.
Reminder: Obama era government "invested" $27,000,000,000 into healthcare technology (HITECH ACT to incentivize the adoption of electronic health records). Why do I have to fill out everything every time I go to any doctor? Has anyone's experience improved? Why is it easier and faster to buy a $.50 item directly from China than it is to pay my bill or renew my medication? It's not as if the actual healthcare providers like this grift either. We're in serious trouble. If any enforcement and legal organization wants to take these grifters on I am willing to help. I am just a knucklehead electrician, but I would love the opportunity to help see some semblance of justice in this country.
PS The soda is cheaper out of the machine vs the cafe.
WORST SERVICE-THUS CARE-IN CALIF.
WORST SERVICE-THUS CARE-IN CALIF.
I have been a Kaiser member for 35 years+. When I owned a law firm they insured all my employees and families. I say this b/c I am not biased against them, but instead a long time customer.
They are just the worst now.
The Interventional Medicine Dept. has not answered the phone for 4 months. Even the Kaiser operators can't get through. Why--On Strike--but Kaiser won't permit any costs for substitute employees to be incurred. So, you might need back surgery, but too bad. Kaiser isn't taking calls.
Or if you are like me and have surgery set for next week, you can't get the pre-op instructions--or even the exact time of the surgery. It's just the patient that loses out--so what does management care? They still bill you the same amount/month.
Or blood in your stool??? My primary care ordered a test STAT. Endocronology cancelled it.
They said,"It is sure to be positive".
Why cancel the test, then?
Kaiser: Because you can only have a colonoscopy every 5 years and we don't want a positive test until then.
They literally tried to shame me by saying, "If we give you one then someone else won't get theirs".
What, they have a cap on how many they do/year?
No wonder colon cancer is the fastest rising cancer in the nation.
I had to do a Medicare appeal to get one. They found a 10mm polyp and if they had waited that 3 additional years it, for sure, would have been malignant. I got it out just in time.
But only b/c I appealed to Medicare.
And whole departments that don't have staff due to a strike? But they still bill you 100%.
It's immoral!
They have really gone down in service…
They have really gone down in service and care. Prescriptions are never ready, web site is screwy. Appointments not accurate. Rude front desk staff
TAN NHAT PHAM MD maybe one of the worst…
TAN NHAT PHAM MD maybe one of the worst doctors in America. I had nothing but trouble with him.
One of the worst occurrences was when I went in with a sinus infection . I get them about every 2 or 3 years. TAN NHAT PHAM prescribed me an antibiotic and after 3 days my infection was still getting worse , so I called, emailed and called again he told me "just keep using it and it will work".
When I have these infection usually the antibiotics work in hours or a day. So, I paid out of pocket $400 to have DNA test done on my nasal mucus (snot) and within 2 days it came back with the results and it said that the infection was antibiotic resistant to one antibiotic and it was the antibiotic he prescribed. I sent a copy of the results via email to TAN NHAT PHAM and he told the antibiotic will work and that he read my test from the DNA lab
10 days later I was in the Kaiser ER in Walnut creek where I waited 17 hours watching a baby sitting on a father's lap dying, who had been in ER for 19 hours. I made more calls to Kaiser from the ER trying to get an appointment with another doctor but Kaiser would only refer me to back to the same bad doctor. So I called him and begged for a new antibiotic and Phan told me that "he didn't read page two of the DNA test" that I paid for and agreed to change my antibiotic. The testing company gave a list of about 25 antibiotics that will work. He changed it and 1 day later my infection was gone. So, for 12 days I had snot dripping out of the eyes and ears because he didn't read page 2 on the test.
Kaiser refused to pay for my test and no apology from anyone and I got to see a baby die in ER at Walnut Creek Kaiser ER
One of the worst doctors in the U.S.
Mistakes like these can kill you, ask my dead and only child my son who was killed at Kaiser last year!!!
Terrible service.
Terrible service.. woke activist run this entire company... becareful they could poison you... #jenniferL
Visit to the Optical, Cap Hill, WDC
This complaint concerns the Kaiser Permanente facility located at 700 2nd St NE, Washington, DC 20002 (Allied Health/Nurse Visit – Optician, Capitol Hill). I later learned that this location currently holds a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau, which aligns with the level of service I experienced from Ms. Cooper.
On 1 April 2026, I had a 2:30 p.m. Allied Health/Nurse Visit appointment. I arrived early and waited until my scheduled time. Per Kaiser’s posted instructions, patients are advised to check with the receptionist if more than 15 minutes pass without being called, so at 2:45 p.m. I followed that guidance.
I had been waiting near the optometry area, assuming that was the correct location, but later learned it was not. I approached Ms. Nine (N.) Cooper, who appeared to be a supervisor, and asked about my appointment. She initially told me I would be called shortly. When I explained that it was already 15 minutes past my appointment time, she stated she would find someone to assist me. No one followed up.
A short time later, another staff member near Mr. Hennigan’s desk assisted me and brought me to him. Mr. Hennigan immediately helped me and provided excellent service. While seated at his station, I observed Ms. Cooper assisting another customer, despite having left me waiting without any communication or resolution.
I expressed to Mr. Hennigan that this was unacceptable customer service. As someone who works in a customer-facing profession, I would never leave a customer standing without acknowledgment. It was clear that Ms. Cooper saw me, yet she did not return to assist or provide any update.
Kaiser should consider retraining Ms. Cooper on customer service expectations, as no patient should be treated in this manner. While Mr. Hennigan represented Kaiser exceptionally well, my experience with Ms. Cooper significantly diminished the overall quality of my visit.
