I am writing this review to warn others…

I am writing this review to warn others before purchasing from this (scam) artist. Based on my experience, her business practices appear to exploit grieving customers. She continues to accept new orders despite a consistent pattern of unresponsiveness and unfulfilled promises.

I placed an order in August 2025 for a custom painting after losing my soul dog of 13 years. Her website instructed customers to email inspiration photos and noted that she typically responds within 10 business days. Living in the U.S., I first assumed shipping or tariff delays explained the silence, but by October I grew concerned and emailed her for a status update—still no response.

Upon researching reviews, I found numerous reports of similar issues (no communication, no delivery, and customers still waiting years for their orders. Several also mentioned chargebacks or legal action). I immediately sent another email requesting cancellation and a refund, but again received no reply.

As of November 7th, I have filed a chargeback with my bank and am awaiting their investigation. Despite many public complaints, she continues to open new commissions.

It is deeply disappointing that so many grieving customers, including myself, placed trust and money into what we believed would be a meaningful memorial piece, only to receive silence and financial loss. I am now exploring UK consumer protection options to formally report this experience.

P.s. While customers struggle to reach her or receive their orders, significant effort appears to go toward deleting comments and hiding negative feedback from her social media platforms.

Update on my original post

I wanted to update my review from July 11, 2025, but I have been unable to do so for some reason. Therefore, I am posting another review to show the outcome of my dispute. Shortly after I wrote this review I was contacted by Ladybug Art. I was offered a refund, if I chose, or she would fulfill my order. I chose to have her fulfill my order, as it was a sentimental sketch of my two pets who had passed away. Within a short time she sent me the artwork, and also included another smaller piece she designed with my pets. She included a short, thoughtful note. Losing a beloved dog can be devastating and I lost two within a short time period. This artwork was my way of keeping them close and it was very important to me. I am so glad that she did respond, even if it took awhile to get the order. I am giving 4 stars since it did take so long, but I could not be happier with her work. It was as beautiful as I had hoped.

wish I could give zero stars

wish I could give zero stars. I ordered a custom art work in May 2024. and I paid through Paypal. Original estimate was a few months if I recall. She asked for details of what I would like. Every few months I would get a generic email giving some story of moves, taking time off, changing type of art she was doing. Now has been over 1 year and have not heard back despite several emails to her. I can't get a refund because of time lapse. Furious that she would use my grief over beloved pet loss and then ghost me. Wish I had looked at reviews before ordering. Hope others do and she learns a hard lesson of what it feels like to be cheated.

WONDERFUL

Such lovely art. I have four of her prints that I got when she was discontinuing doing them (I love that they were sent with the Pet Loss Notice). I have three sets of her books (ordered three times due to issues with my computer) and have been able to gift one set to a friend (who also loves your art). I got a limited edition print, as well, and I love that I can see them all from my desk (reminds me of both my Jade and my Carson). Her FB group is full of such nice people, as well.

I LOVE LADYBUG ART

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ladybug Art and it's creator, Jess. I have purchased many prints from her, and she has done two custom pieces of artwork for me. My first communication with her was December 3, 2014, and I have been a fan of Jess' since I first saw her artwork on Facebook. I recently purchased a print of "knowing that they sent you to me", and I LOVE it. Although it is a print, it looks like an original artwork. Jess is the best, and I LOVE everything she does--both as a person and her artwork.

Bad turned good

I had originally left a bad review for Jess BUT here is my story:
I found Ladybug Art and fell in love with the art work as it warmed my heart after the loss of my pet. This art made me happy so i splurged on it and bought as much as i could to warm my heart with and to also have extras around as gifts for my friends when they also lost a loved pet one day.

For a long time everything was great and I had no issues receiving my art from the UK to Canada.

Then one day i stopped receiving my art. I read some of these reviews and they angered me and I felt like a victim and like i was ripped off and lost my money and my heart felt betrayed by Jess. I lost my cool and sent her many rude emails, left horrible reviews and spammed her social media posts with a rude comment of my own on each post she had. All the while NOT giving her time to actually reply to me and correct the issue - i only assumed. Jess takes a long time to reply but she is also super busy and has a ton of emails to sort through so it does take her time to reply.

Well, we sorted things out and my art is on its way (I am able to track it and see it is on its way) and I would like to say that I jumped the gun and let my anger blind me.

Jess handled my anger as a professional and understood where my anger was coming from and did her all to make sure my art got out to me. It was a big misunderstanding and I'm happy we sorted it out so I can continue to purchase more art from Jess.

I am looking forward to getting my package in the mail.

Lesson learned - don't take all negative reviews to heart, there are 2 sides to every story and I can give my honest word that Jess is trying her best and doing wonderfully.

Heartfelt portrait

I ordered a portrait by Jess of my much missed dog,Bailey Boo. Communication was always understanding and empathetic of my broken heart. The portrait arrived, framed and wrapped up with ribbon. Extra prints and a " little book of grief " were also included. The portrait of Boo is absolutely beautiful. She has captured him perfectly. I can't stop looking at it!
As a side note, I have ordered other prints and books from Jess. Everything has been perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to order anything else or recommend her work. Stunning.

When time stood still….

The pieces I have purchased have been such a source of comfort to me. I have lost many pets and each and every art piece has taken me back down memory lane. I always feel my pets close to me but what Ladybugart does is put it into pictures, that is a skill that is so hard to come by. She reaches into our hearts and minds and paints a picture that only we can see and yet, she gets it right every single time. I cannot thank her enough for the heartfelt joy she has brought to myself and so many others. May she always feel that in her heart.

I've always admired Jess's incredible ability to capture emotions in her gorgeous art capturing four pawed heartbeats that have crossed 🌈 bridge.
i started following Ladybird art because Jess uses cute, chunky bully breeds in many paintings and stretches which is my breed!

Thoughtful genuine artist…

Although the original pencil drawing wasn't commissioned by me I like to think it was as it so resembles 1 of the dogs I lost in 2024. It came beautifully wrapped and signed alongside some free prints which were placed inside. Just working up the courage for a commission of the 2 dogs I lost so close together 💖💖
Thoughtful, careful marketing and I have since made a second purchase.

Do NOT buy from this artist…

This artist is at best someone who just can’t manage her business or at worst a fraud. Both my husband and I have paid for custom works and been ghosted. Shameful to prey on people that have lost their beloved pets!

To clarify for transparency: your order was placed for a custom painting and, when requested, a full refund was issued. I’m saddened that despite resolving the payment, you were left feeling ignored. As a sole artist managing both creative and operational responsibilities for over 12 years, I’ve occasionally struggled to keep up during particularly high-volume periods. That’s never an excuse only context and I take full responsibility for any delays in communication.

Please know there was never any intention to cause harm or distress. My mission has always been to support others through grief with compassion and sincerity, and I remain committed to that every day.

Paid for poetry books, ghosted by seller

On the 5th of March, I ordered two of the poetry books from Ladybugart that Jess has listed on her website. My cat had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and this was my attempt to begin grieving. I never received my order, and I have attempted to reach out to Jess multiple times (through email, contact form, and social media). I never heard back from her, yet the entire time she posts on the same social media platforms that I have attempted to reach out to her through. I have filed a claim with my bank, whose investigation is still ongoing as they are waiting for the merchant's response (no surprise that they have not received one).

It is incredibly disappointing and unethical to be preying on people who are currently dealing with grief. Please, if you are looking to buy from her, take your business elsewhere. I'm sure there are other artists who appreciate and don't take advantage of their customers.

First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt apologies that your experience with Ladybug Art added further distress during such a painful and sensitive time. As someone who has built this business around honouring the deep love we have for our animals, it’s never my intention for anyone to feel unheard or mistreated.

You’re absolutely right that your order was delayed, and I deeply regret that my slow response caused further upset.
Your books were sent via tracked delivery at no extra cost to yourself, and were delivered but I understand that without timely updates, the silence must have felt dismissive especially when navigating anticipatory grief. That was never my intention.

As a solo artist, I manage every part of this growing business myself, from creating art to packing, replying to hundreds of messages, and maintaining the website. With over 1,800 emails in my inbox, I missed your messages, and for that I am truly sorry. Please know this isn’t an excuse, just a window into the reality I’m working to improve every day.

Don’t let your grief lure you into a scam!!!

Echoing everyone else here- do not order from LadyBug Art. I placed an order 5 months ago, have attempted to contact Jess without success. I asked for refund, or even just an update on the order. The only time she responded was when I blasted her social media- she blocked me and told me the order would be sent tomorrow. Now (another month later) I can’t get back touch with her again.

Such a terrible thing for someone to do. We are GRIEVING our pets. Jess if you see this, know that your dog would be EXTREMELY disappointed in you.

I am deeply sorry for the frustration and hurt you experienced. You placed your order during the busy holiday period, and I regret that it was missed in the high volume of sales that’s entirely on me, and I take responsibility for it.

Please know that your order was refunded in full, not because I don’t value your grief, but because I didn’t want to add to your distress any further. I am not a scam I’ve been a solo artist working with grieving pet owners for over 12 years, with hundreds of successful, heartfelt commissions. That said, when things go wrong, I understand it can feel deeply personal.

I kindly ask that we remain respectful in our words especially regarding my late dog, who inspired so much of this work. I will always continue to improve my communication and care with customers, and I genuinely wish you peace as you heal from your loss.

Dreadful experience

I placed an order for a custom sketch in May 2024. Unfortunately like others here I never received it. Jess did not respond to any of my polite emails for nearly a year. I am now having to go through the small claims court to get a refund.
I previously purchased a print from her in 2023 with no issues so it’s confusing that some orders are being fulfilled but others (it seems to be the more expensive custom art ones) are sometimes not being fulfilled. So you cannot get a clear sense from her instagram account that this is happening.
I enquired on instagram about my order and she just deleted my comment. Other people then started commenting that they were in a similar situation but she deleted those comments too. She had a notice up in Feb-25 on her online shop that it was temporarily closed until all o/s artwork was completed but sadly this didn’t last long and it was soon opened up with more custom slots even though so many of us are still waiting years for our artwork.
I would like to hope that this is not deliberate fraud on vulnerable people dealing with pet loss and just an artist that has become overwhelmed by the sheer amount of interest in her work and unable to keep track of the orders but the following need to be immediately rectified:
1. Stop taking orders for custom work until all o/s work is completed
2. Get admin assistance to manage the large amount of orders
3. Ensure the website is limited to the amount of work that the artist can realistically complete in a timely manner
4. Add clear info on timings for customers when purchasing pictures
5. Respond to customers on a timely basis and apologise if something is delayed, give updated timings etc.

This person is very dishonest and preys…

This person is very dishonest and preys on people who are grieving the loss of their companion. I had ordered a custom piece and initially she is very patronizing to you when you do not hear ANYTHING from her for over a month, calling you lovely, and immediately I realized that something was up. Sure as sugar, she would keep telling me "not to worry, lovely", and after I started posting on her facebook posts and she would delete them, she told me that she would not be working with me. This was a 8 month ordeal.

Ordered a custom painting from Ladybug…

Ordered a custom painting from Ladybug Art in January 2022. Like many others the order was never fulfilled and the money was not refunded. The owner will not respond to emails or communication. Tried contacting a couple times a year since and have not received a response or the artwork. Definitely feels like it was a scam for those ordering from over seas.

Paid for art but never received; seller unresponsive

Same issue as the other complaints on here - Unresponsive seller after purchasing items several months ago. The art was never sent despite several attempts to reach the artist. For anyone who didn't get their orders, if you paid via paypal be sure to submit a refund request via Paypal itself, as I was refunded instantly by Paypal upon launching a complaint. Also please report this account as fraudulent on Instagram so that other heartbroken pet owners do not get defrauded like the rest of us! This artist should be ashamed of herself, as she's preying on the emotional distress of pet owners who have recently lost their pets in order to defraud them.
