Money grabbing parking enforcement

Received a PCN after having paid £10 for 3 hours parking. Realised the registration number of my old car was still in their parking app, not the new one. So evidenced everything - old car previous ownership, £10 parking payment (i actually only used an hour of that!) etc. - but appeal refused. Very clear that I had paid but they have just chosen to apply the fine anyway. I would have hoped they enforce fines where people try to avoid paying but instead, they're just seeking to catch anyone out and bring in the cash. Roads around this area awful too - roadworks, heavy traffic - stressful journey even before the PCN and won't bother heading into Lambeth to spend my money on their local business again.

All of the roads around Brixton are an…

All of the roads around Brixton are an open air landfill. Rubbish stays on the boardwalk for months (from washing machines to wardrobes).The council is spending their money to harass citizens with fines for anything (one cigarette on the floor is 150£) while leaving mountains of garbage on the road. Is a disgraceful council if you can avoid it

Confronted and humiliated by 'officers'…

Confronted and humiliated by 'officers' that I thought I was helping with enquiries only to be fined on the spot. By the aggressive manner of these two masked men in stab vests I thought a serious crime had occurred and my presence on the street was useful to help an investigation. I did not know what wrong I had committed, was issued a fine (FPN), then informed it was for the offence of littering - dropping a cigarette butt - which I was unaware was a crime. I offered to retrieve the offending item from the floor but was given no choice but to accept the fine without warning. The confrontational attitude of these unfortunate 'workers' is unfortunate and an affront to values of liberty and decency that I defend. A warning and instruction of correct behaviour would have been sufficient to prevent further offences on my part once better informed. I am not wittingly a lawbreaker or unlawful citizen. Unfortunately, threatening behaviour from council officials like these makes me feel less inclined to cooperate in the future.

Lambeth Council NOT paying suppliers

We provide interpretreting and translation service and BSL too. The interpreters provided were for some of the rare and most difficult to find languages. Lambeth Council seemingly has tried to get away from paying for providing interpreting services on few occassions. As an example invoice dated 07/06/2018 was paid on 26/02/2019. We cannot enlist here the number of calls, emails and the content of them all. However we are sure many small businesses give up chasing their monies due to the extreme stress and drain of resources needed to get money out of Lambeth Council. We have ever since refused to accept work from Lambeth. Our advice, please do not fall for the promise that they will pay you in 30 days etc. That has never happened and wil never happen. Received a PCN for driving in a bus…

Received a PCN for driving in a bus lane. Not being from the area I thought motorcycles could use bus lanes in London but obviously not, my fault, should pay better attention to the signs. On the letter there's a a very blurry pic where you definitely can't make me out never mind my number plate and in the letter it states you have the ability to not only pay the fine online but to also view more images of the offence. Neither of these functions were not available via the website. Poor performance Lambeth council

Poor customer service with housing…

Poor customer service with housing management of repairs since flooding from my bedroom ceiling n despite report the issue numerous times Lambeth has failed to send someone out to fix the problems, it took 10 days for electriction to come n disconnected lighting in my bedroom n still have problems with leeks n flooding n no one has come out to solve the issue, it's 2 weeks now of this which is disgusting to live like this, also damp n mould in bathroom ceiling ceiling for 3 years now n Lambeth still not sorted this issue out, I'm now taking legal action via a solicitor.

Bullying!!!

I am a long standing resident in my estate and on the 3rd of august I had used an app called (PayByPhone) as the ticket/parking meters in my area are no longer available to purchase tickets from to display on cars. I used the app and entered in the the code displayed and purchased £3.70 for an hr and when that was up I brought another one for £2.57 when I later returned to my car a saw I had a PCN on my windscreen this happened three times and a appealed every time (on the day I received the PCNs) online as that was the online place to appeal, there wasn’t a number or address available, I was concerned that they wouldn’t get back to me with the 14 day period but I waited patiently. On the 15th of August (a Saturday) I received a later stating that I still have to pay a £65 fine and if this wasn’t paid on the Monday the price would go up to £130 so at this point I don’t have any time to challenge this any further, now at this point I am back against a wall with no where to turn! As I have two more PCNs to wait and see if they’ve be approved or not! I have left an urgent contact request on their website which says it’ll take 10 working days for them to respond back to me. So what am I to do? Another issue is that I have PURCHASED a residential Parking permit that they haven’t approved nor have they stated why. I resent my evidence (DRIVING LICENSE, BANK STATEMENT, and VC5) now this also states that in 30 days if evidence isn’t approved I will not be refunded! I need someone to contact me ASAP or I will seek legal advice and take this further!!!

Lambeth consistently abuse their…

Lambeth consistently abuse their position, they have no regard for tenants welfare. They continuously change procedures and protocols to benefit them and not the rest of us. I have had a complaint outstanding for nearly 1 month with no response which should be within 48hours. Also no regard for health and safety, have allowed illegal fly tipping for 10 years plus. Which is not surprising for Lambeth, what is surprising is this has been going on for years and the same senior staff members have made this into a ‘culture’. It has been made “ok” for housing officers to ignore tenants, it’s ok for time sensitive issues to linger, it’s ok for Lambeth to charge you for services that they don’t provide, they do not hold themselves accountable. Another thing is the councillors, if we have councillors who are not doing what they say they would, get rid of them, I have been voting for Labour for the past 10years and it has not benefited me, out of 3 councillors, 0 have been able to do what they have promised. Imagine speaking to 5different staff members, 5days a week, all giving empty promises, conflicting advice and in the same breath no help, they have purposefully made it harder to complain by directing all complaints to the relevant department to investigate, if I’m complaining about housing management itself how can they investigate themselves?? Make it make sense please

Dreadful

Impossible to get hold of anyone. Where does my council tax go? One exception is v nice man in electoral services. Otherwise all other interactions have been very poor. Highest council tax in London, and for what?

Lambeth Council cementing its reputation of "endemic" abuse and corruption

I had heard a fair bit about Lambeth council's reputation as abusive and corrupt, today I could experience myself a bit of their ways of working.

I was forced to find a safe spot to stop my car, which was making a loud and frightening sound, and pulled literally to the corner of a road which is used for pedestrians on some days of the week, to avoid blocking the heavy traffic on the road I was at with a potentially broken down car.

I challenged the the penalty charge notice I received for my emergency stop and as expected, the challenge, representation was refused.

The CCTV shows me atypically slowing down the car and stopping at the very corner of the said pedestrian road, not going anywhere further, staying there, getting off to look around the car and underneath, as I realised the problem was a very large plastic bottle stuck under the car. It shows a pedestrian noticing the loud noise coming from my car and approaching me to help as I was stopping, and it shows me driving off in less than a minute and half, after getting rid of the stuck plastic bottle.

According to them, regarding my claim it was an emergency parking:
"In regards to the points you raised, I have reviewed the CCTV footage and there is no evidence of emergency that caused you to enter a pedestrian zone."

What can I say? I thing the numerous references to "endemic abuse and corruption" easily found all over the web speak for themselves.

And having in mind this is Covid 19 times and incomes are being drastically reduced, I'm pretty sure Lambeth Council would not let this opportunity to dishonestly make money pass.

Careful if you need to deal with them.

I cannot even begin to describe how…

I cannot even begin to describe how frustrating my experience with the council has been. I have attempted to put myself on the electoral roll 7 times over 2 years and every single time I submit an application, I either get no response/confirmation, or they come back having registered me at the WRONG ADDRESS.
This happened to my flatmate as well. What are the chances we both made the same typo over several months worth of electoral roll applications? ZERO.

Not only that, but when I email them to try and resolve the issue, they (no joke) send me a confirmation that I have been registered at 2 completely different addresses! The email itself says "we have registered you at X address" and then says, "To confirm, we have registered you Y" address. 'Confirming' a completely random address that isn't even near me....Insane.

It seems insane that the employee handling my complaint could not spare the attention to read the email they were writing me and see that there were completely contradictory bits of information. Shoddy customer service and lack of attention to detail.

Because of this, I have been unable to attain a credit report and open a credit card, or vote in the elections. Thanks a lot Lambeth Council.

Absolutely appalling customer service…

Absolutely appalling customer service experience. It was impossible to get hold of them regarding my application for a parking permit (I had to email them, reach out to them on Facebook and call them several times). When I finally managed to get them on the phone, I was shouted at. Their behaviour was extremely unprofessional.

Service providers and educators in…

Service providers and educators in Lambeth council have proven themselves to be unprofessional, prejudiced and discriminatory. I find it strange, contrary and worrying that on at least three occasions Lambeth council employees employed in the helping field were invalidating, discriminating, non supportive, and actually made demeaning and derogatory statements, plus some have shown that they do not know how to respond (effectively) to a person's concerns, feelings and/or crisis.

Disgraceful

Disgraceful.
Private homeowner in lambeth and I cannot wait to move to another borough.
Essentially I am paying for rubbish services and poor staff. But I guess it is Lambeth, I know not to expect anybody of any value to represent and work for the horrible borough. The ones I have had the awful experience of having to listen to are pretty thick. They just talk over you because that’s all they can do. If they let you speak, they will be shown the lack of common sense that they have. So yeah that’s just one of the reasons why Lambeth is a mess. Labour borough though so I guess it’s expected. I do not recommend living in Lambeth if you buy or privately rent. You can do better.

Management you make poor people live in poverty while you live in your mansion shame on you you help no one.The reception give you the run around past you to pillow to post. Brixton in a crisis because the council people are living on the streets and living g out of food banks.Managment how do you sleep at night.

I believe the poor service I receive from Lambeth is a personal vendetta against me ...

I have been a resident in the borough of Lambeth for over thirty years. I am appalled at the consistent and persistent bad service throughout all the departments I have dealt with. Currently they are demanded that I pay a council tax bill for 1120.01. They sent me a letter in April stating I was no longer entitled to Council Tax support despite me still being in receipt of Universsl Credit. I confirmed with UC they said my claim for UC had not bern stopped. So I ignored this letter. I am fsmiliar with Lambeths blatant waste of paper as they send you lengthy statements which will come over a period of a few weeks and contradict themselves. Do I open all letters from Lambeth ? No! I don't have a PA who I can employ to pour over the mis-information they regularly churn out. When I first started my Housing Benefit claim as I had become unemployed. After 6 weeks I had received no acknowledgement of my claim. I then phoned up once a week over the next 8 weeks, each time no explanation as to what had happened to my claim. Each time I was informed 'That this was unusual and it would be looked into as they had exceeded their official response time ' . They would regularly tell me it will be investigated. I forced myself to remain calm in the knowledge. That as a unemployed single parent tenant , I was entitled to Housing and Council Tax benefit. After 14 weeks after tge initial claim. I received both benefits back dated with no indication as to why things had taken that to process. 4 years ago when applying for a primary school place, my daughter's form was loss. No seriously despite the fact I had dropped it off at 'Olive Morris House ' . Did it coincide witg the fact that I refused to pay for someone to verify my residency in the borough eventhough I had lived in borough for over 30 years. Also the fact that my daughter did not receive any of her 3 secondary school choices despite being a high achieving student, she is dumped in the dumping ground for Black girls 'St Martin's in the field ' . The school that has 90% Black students despite the fact that no part of any part of Lambeth have that cultural percentage. The list of Lambeth's incompetence goes on. The only department which seems to be run efficiently is 'Parking'. In my opinion too efficiently. I committed a parking violation on Pope road, no ticket was issued at the time, over night a ticket was placed on my car, respectfully the PCN was cancelled, when I appealed. I reported an over grown tree in a property that belong to them , they told me it was my responsibility to cut it back. Dedpite that, I have been contacted 4 seperate occasions being addressed by their tenants name. In conclusion. I will not be paying my Council Tax bill for 2019 as I don't receive the services I am billed for
