Cannot contact a human at Magic Jack
I am having a problem with Magic Jack. There is no way to contact a human being. Email responses are bots. Phone calls are bots, no way to talk to a person, and the system disconnects you.

So I had a company insist they needed to send me a text message to verify my number, but no text message came through, but the next day their was a message in the app from MJ that said . after analyzing my text message use my text message feature has been 'unblocked ' so I was wondering why it had been blocked to begin with. and i noticed on my other MJ number phone calls back when I used the number a lot seemed to be limited to 30 or 45 seconds each and then the call would disconnect, so I am guessing MJ guys were doing just that. so phone service with a side of dirt bag ? You know I was using the *** NUMBER as a contact number for me as a VOLUNTEER animal rescuer and only scumbags or Verizon which is the same thing would mess with rescuers who are trying to help people like YOU. So they have become a trash company with little to no customer service. they even abandoned their social media. their only good as a cheap VOIP service. Don't sign up for 911 services or they will try to charge you extra and say the charges are actually from your states 911 services. how ever after their latest round of scumbag tricks I would not believe them.
Over 15 years with MagicJack
I have been using MagicJack for over 15 years, and it has been pretty good. You can connect your MagicJack to a Panasonic cordless multi phone base, and easily use it for your whole house. Their best feature is to require incoming calls to dial a digit in order connect. This has completely eliminated all robo spam calls. The drawbacks are that the price of the service keeps going up, and the call quality is not very good. I almost always use my cell phone now for calls because the quality is much better. We have also had problems calling China with the international service.
Magic Jack removed my 40+ yr old phone number that I had ported to them

Formal Complaint – Loss of Longstanding Canadian Phone Number
I am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding the loss of my Canadian phone number ending in 6249, which I had maintained for approximately 40 years.
10 years ago or more, I transferred this number to MagicJack and recently I enrolled in auto-renew specifically to ensure continuity of service. At no point was it clearly communicated to me that my auto-renewal applied only to the service plan and did not protect or preserve my Canadian phone number. Had this been made explicit, I would have taken immediate steps to secure the number elsewhere.
This phone number was not only long-standing but deeply tied to my personal and family life, and it was an essential way for people to reach me, especially while traveling. Losing it without warning or meaningful support has been extremely upsetting.
What has compounded this situation is the lack of assistance or empathy I received when I contacted support. I was essentially told to check the system myself, with no proactive help, explanation, or attempt to explore whether the number could be recovered. For a customer of several years, this was very disappointing.
While I understand that number recovery may no longer be possible, I believe MagicJack has a responsibility to:
- Clearly disclose number retention policies, especially for legacy numbers
- Provide explicit warnings before numbers are released (I had recd an email stating that it was due but this is a usual event and MJ normally sends a reminder. I had gone into my account at that exact time and that is when I only saw my subscription to MJ was due but not the Canadian number which I have to pay for. It was then that I added the auto-pay
- Offer better customer support when a long-held number is at risk or lost
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve communication and customer care so that others do not experience a similar loss.

i have been with magic jack since 2014 ,, i renewd it every year on time , this year my bill was do on jan 5th so i tryed to renew it and gave me a error,, There was an error processing your order. and i called magic jack customer service they could not fix it , they have to

Magic Jack is garbage
Magic Jack is garbage. The software routinely resets itself, blocking everything else on my computer, demanding that I plug in the device, which is already plugged in and installed. It doesn't appear to be able to find it, and the only way to get rid of the window blocking my workflow is to turn off the Magic Jack software entirely; making it useless to receive calls on my US number. What a waste of money! So I use it on my cell phone, where I receive SPAM calls almost daily. This Piece of Crap company does everything possible to not provide any customer service, and the service they do provide is no better than their library of time-consuming and useless articles. In order to get any tech support they demanded I log on to their system, call them, and leave a recording, since they are closed during my normal waking hours. Customer Service and Tech support departments that operate so predatory against their customers do not deserve to stay in business! I wouldn't recommend Magic Jack to my worst enemy, but it allows me to keep my old phone number while living overseas. That's the only benefit, one I am going to try to steer around.

I've had a MagicJack for a while. I just renewed the service and bought international minutes, but I can't use their system because it stopped working after renewal. Customer service is TERRIBLE! After phone calls, and 20+ emails, still no service.
After two weeks of no service, I have requested a refund because the service I purchased doesn't work. They refused and instead gave me $10 of international minutes I can't use because their system is broken.
Take my advise and shop somewhere else.
Before you purchase this item
Before you purchase this item, try calling their customer service. They will put you on hold until you get tired of waiting and hang-up. The MagicJack is very glitchy and can give you fits to get it to work. I found that it will work as long as it is connected to your computer and that means if you turn off your computer you also turn off MagicJack. There is a way to connect it without hooking it up to your computer but that is when it becomes unusable by cutting off your service. you can reboot it, and the service returns for about ten minutes and needs rebooting again. I spent days trying to talk to their customer service with zero results. One last bit of info. When you return it, your phone number stays on the device. This is not a small thing if you have paid them to port your phone number.
When it works it's good
The Magic Jack App fills a gap in the market. One can use their phone service to make international calls and, sometimes, to receive texts. It's a VOIP system and so the texting can't always be used for OTP verifications.
The phone connection can be good if the internet is stable and the app is working correctly. So it's useful for that reason. But at other times, the app is unreliable, and connections drop easily.
Customer service can be good occasionally but you may need to wait for a reply when inquiring via email.

I have been with MJ for over 20 years and their customer service has been very poor. Currently, I am not able to make a call to a French land line number for over 7 days. I called their support numerous times without any follow up or e-mail even so they told me that they will call me back. I found out that there is an issue with several countries and it may be resolved in 10 business days. This is unacceptable. When I called to get some refund on my minutes, they send me an e-mail that no refund or proration is denied. What kind of customer service does that to loyal customers. I will be looking for another provider .

Cancel your account and they'll keep charging you anyway
I cancelled my service over a year ago. Today I get notification that Magic Jack attempted to charge my card. Thankfully the card they tried to use was expired.
We did everything the help section says to do in order to discontinue our service. My old account page states that the service is discontinued. And here they are trying to STEAL from my account. Makes me wonder who else they are doing this to.
Shame on this company.

Magicjack is magic at STEALING your money. FRADULENT MISREPRESENTATION at its best. After years with them I have had to buy 4 of their faulty plugins and the last one seemd fine for 2 years till i did the 3 year payment instead of just yearly payment. Afterwards talked to several others in our town who had the same problem ****so watch out paying in advance. I tried to fix it with their "customer service " thru email as you cant call like they tell you to do if its not working ...and got the same messages umpteen times as to how to fix it which doesnt work ,as well as them saying to BUY A NEW ONE..THE CROOKS to top it off I had to go buy a cell phone now at $30 a month freedom mobile yippie it works flip phone 5 g compatible 45 for the phone which comes off your bill and this month if you use a debit or visa they take 5 a month off right now si 25 a mth not 30( i am a senior who didnt want a phone with all the crap on it too confusing time consuming and cant see the tiny icons anyway so got the cheapeast one going as I only get/ have 4 calls a month if that one friend)... sickening to even have to pay any amount for that...but called them to cancel my service as by now I KNEW an email would do zipp (they know that too) for $177 then the billing woman said I COULDNT BE REFUNDED !!! boy or boy she got an ear full then i said ok fraud department at the bank will deal with it then she got rude talked over me loudly and huffy they will send to the "escalation team" omg sounds like temu and shein and ebay this is $177 not a $10 item...she said i will hear their decission within 3-5 business days by EMAIL..of course and of course easter weekend. Westland Jack's Magic used to be the most reliable compost for many years, it has so many uses in the garden, I personally use it mainly as a seed growing medium, and as winter lawn dressing, until in 2022 Westland changed its formula by adding limestone chips, consequently they lost a customer no doubt along with many others, they must have listened to the complaints because some time later they returned back to the original formula and regained me for one as a customer now they've changed the formula yet again, using cheap un composted wood chip coarse rubbish, on the premises that they've followed the tack of going peatless, because they're no longer using spent mushroom compost, well another lost customer once again I'm afraid.

I ordered Magic Jack subscription in December 10 along with the device for 2 years and I did not receive my device yet.I am trying to get hold of them on phone after waiting for half hour or an hour they hang up on me each time. What a waste of time and money.There should be law against people whom treat you in this manner with no service!

I cancelled my Magic Jack service over 4 years ago. This past month, the company withdrew the subscription cost from my debit card even though the service had been void for over 4 years. When I started a dispute with my debit card provider, Magic Jack offered to cancel my account IF I paid them. Unethical and probably illegal.
