I find Magicjack to be exceptional value for the price.
I find Magicjack to be exceptional value as I have homes in the US, Germany and Argentina. It’s so easy I unplug it when I leave and take my US number to wherever I go. It’s not perfect it would be better if I could upload an MP3 to voicemail as an OGM and set calls to voicemail from say 10pm to 9am but for what you pay it’s a bargain.
Paying for a service that doesn't work
First off let me start with the HORRIBLE customer service !!
Which leads to the second thing.... their app worked good for less than a year till I heard people saying they were trying to reach me and they couldn't get through. Tested it for myself and sure enough I was paying for a service and it wasn't working ... who knows for how long!
I contacted their live chat (Rosa) and explained the problem. It's clear she was in no way technically minded and offered many basic things. However not knowing the problem I did all of those and none worked one after the other. She then gave me a speed test to do and while it was running I had to go back to her because of her impatience "haven't heard you for a while". So the last part of the test didn't finish. So she then "assumed" this was why it was not working. I told her my internet is the same as it has been for years and it's only recently that MJ stopped working. I said I'll do the full test again if she gave time for it to complete. Did that and by the time I got back she disconnected. RUDE INADEQUATE STAFF!!
Anyway... so I'm still paying for a service that's not working and MJ has staff that can't help.
Awful customer service
Awful customer service. Billing department doesnt pick up or call back. It was not listed that my operating system was not compatible with their service and NO ONE will help me with a refund

DON'T DO IT!! Consider paying more to keep your existing service internationally. Or simply get a new number in the new country you are living in.
THIS COMPANY IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!! I spent over 3 hours and 4 different phone calls being lead on. The company staff is trained to charge your credit card before giving you the correct information.
Each time I would call them I would do my best to ask clear, quality questions and each time I WAS GIVEN WRONG INFORMATION. ALL OF THE STAFF I SPOKE TO do NOT SPEAK ENOUGH ENGLISH TO PROPERLY DO THEIR JOB, lead me astray... AFTER THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD.
magic jack service help stinks !
i have not had a big problem with this magic jack in use but the customer service is terrible not the fault of employees who get the complains but the CEO who is so busy counting his money he can't be bothered with running the business. It always stinks when you are transferred at best to a operator in the Philippines to deliver the bad news i cannot help you . In my case i started with a issue about the timestamp which registers a New York time i live in California that is off then my caller id never shows the name of the caller only the phone number then i renewed the membership 39.00 advertised then they add a administration fee another 3.51 additional no mention of this fee in adds or anywhere and no explanation of what it is for and everyone has to pay it. The law should require all companies to post any added fees on all advertising explaining what it is for of course this raises the actual cost to 42.51 not 39.00 they advertise bait and switch a felony. Now they have a arbitration which their agreement mentions you give up your right to sue for anything which in truth should be illegal in any court this is forced under duress on all customers who need a cheap phone service . This equals give me that money screw you. It is a shame because they have a service that could make money without screwing people yet this is what they are doing. Very sad! I noticed another customer complained so they commented by doing a promo and ignoring what he was complaining about that tells you too.

MagicJack stopped ringing
MagicJack stopped ringing. Customer service doesn't want to fix issue and 2nd level support does not contact as promised. Terrible support. My MagicJack phone stopped ringing. I can make outbound calls, but it will not ring. Contacted Magic Jack support and even purchased new device to fix issue but nothing works. Was on hold for Customer Support over 1 hour and tech "hung up" on me because I told them my other MagicJack device at the same location was working properly on the same network. The tech said it was an Internet issue, when I asked how he came to this absurd assumption and I explained that I spent over an hour troubleshooting and I am a network technician. The tech got snippy with me and literally hung up. I called back and had to wait another hour before I was connected to another tech. This second tech was not able to fix issue. I contacted support through CHAT and was on the chat for almost 3 hours and still did not get a resolution. It's obvious that either the device is bad (which I don't believe) because I purchased another new one and got the same result or MagicJack has made changes to my account that forces my incoming calls directly to voicemail. Overall their support is staffed with un-knowledgeable people and their Conciegiere Service for rapid customer support, which is an extra price has a working phone number but the option prompts do not accept your input and it keeps repeat to call back the support number, which is the same number I am calling. Overall, this company should be fined heavily for their in ability to provide the service they promised. I have had problems with them double billing me in the past and was never refunded any money for the double billing. This company is NOT REPUTABLE and they should be fined and or sued for these issues.

Magicjack is blocking calls from google as verification code. I am not able to receive my two factor verification code. I would like to MagicJack support work on it and check what is the problem.
The Two factor verification code is sent from google end but messages are not coming to MagicJack.

Veteran MagicJack Customer Throws In The Towel
I have been with MagicJack since the beginning and must say it is overall a cost saver once you drop your expensive land-line. Unfortunately, at a cost or compromise in quality and reliability. Firstly the system never works well on Wi-Fi with computers as promised - neither the earlier 'Plus' or 'Go' models and I have tested them both on different routers and computers to confirm this. I have upgraded to the MagicJack Go and unless plugged into a router the performance is undependable using the USB to computer configuration - how sad. Any promises or suggestions that you can use this for a 'real' business is a stretch since your clients/customers would think you have money issues. Also, I have tried the MagicJack Android App on several android cell phones and although it does 'basically' work it is also unreliable and delivers poor quality with scratchy sound and many dropped calls and other issues and is basically a novelty. How long must I wait for a better 'App' or a better dongle? How many more dongles must I pay for? Another experience was the performance did improve greatly when I updated from MagicJack Plus to MagicJack Go and after much complaining to them about bad service with the earlier 'Plus' it turned out that their earlier generation dongles (The Plus series) had performance issues that they lied to their customer's about - I have other friends I have referred to the service at that time and they had the same problems and issues I observed and experienced - notice how they dropped support of the 'Plus' series!?! Again, I had to pay for the 'Go' unit to resolve or improve their defects and problems. With all the 'beta' testing and customer loyalty I have been rewarded with mediocre service and relatively poor quality...did I really save much? They owe dedicated customers immediate and free replacements of these devices over time as long as we remain subscribed and they need to be more honest about performance claims and not mislead their clients. If you think you are having problems with your MagicJack it is most likely the device and they will never replace it at no cost....either get a new one ...or better yet....perhaps "run for the hills".

Magic Jack Gouging
So I hate Magic Jack, but I moved overseas, and needed a way to be able to text and call using a US phone number. After searching high and low, the only solution seemed to be Magic Jack, so I decided to get their app for 9.99 per year.
I had issues with app not telling me at the top when I had messages or texts and after e-mailing and calling, I realized they are just tooo stupid to design/code an app properly, but I continued to use it because I had no choice.
My year just expired and instead of receiving an e-mail via the e-mail address I signed up with, it went to my cell phone's e-mail which I rarely if ever use, so I only noticed a week later.
I called up to renew, and after wasting my time with the first Filipino, I got hung up on.
I called back and GUESS WHAT
They NOW want to charge me a 35 equipment fee.
LOL, there is NO need for ANY equipment to use the mobile app, but of course GREED is alive and well in Magic Jack land.
I told her 3 times I guess you don't want my business and finally hung up. I will just do without, I'm going to be returning to the US soon anyway.
I'm always shocked when I hear people singing Magic Jack's praises. I think they are INSANE. I had issues with the phone device when I lived in Panama and even before moving from Canada I had issues with their customer service and read the million long thread of complaints. My sister nearly hung up the phone on me the clarity was sooo bad.
There are so many better VoIP options, but unfortunately NONE that do what I need sigh
No Service, poor product
I bought Magic Jack for the price, but found that getting customer service is impossible, at best after one hour waiting on a chat you get a rep who doesn't understand english and cannot solve your issues, except write a ticket to a supervisor, who never responds. Easy installation but hard to renew, your voicemail gets their advertisement, and when you hang up, takes 15-30 seconds to get a dial tone.
There are better VOIP companies, stay away from this one.
