You have to be 5 feet from your grill…

You have to be 5 feet from your grill for this device to even semi work… I’ve bought two of these devices thinking the first one was a Lemmon. They are both garbage… wouldn’t even give them away.
Both of them currently reside in a landfill somewhere.

Garbage.

Won't connect. Won't stay connected. Connection drops. Pairing fails.

I've been trying to use these things since the cursed things came out. When they work, they're great. They hardly ever work. Don't buy this shit.

I'm sure this isn't helpful but I just tried to use one of these worthless things to cook a steak and it yet again failed. I've three of the damned things and not a single one of them will hold a connection. Garbage, garbage, garbage. Tired of it.

The probe hardware is fantastic

The probe hardware is fantastic, simplifies the cook and cleaning and management of tools so well. I would love to see some improvements in the app: firstly a chart view with multiple probes displayed at the same time instead of only one at a time. And then a way to turn off the videos to streamline and reduce the number of clicks to get a cook going would improve things a bit

Totally unreliable .either does not…

Totally unreliable .either does not connect or disconnects terrible customer service .the problem is with the software .but the costumer service pretends their not aware of it .and just keeps making suggestions that get you no where .

Constant connectivity issies

This piece of equipment never works. It consistently struggles to connect to the probes and they are in position on the base. If you want to spend your time fighting equipment instead of smoking meat, then go for the Meater. I have a new set that was used once and cannot get it to work.

meater 2 plus is garbage

meater 2 plus is garbage. after two smokes and one deep fry the sensor can’t read the block. huge waste of time and money. i have been a meater fan since the beginning. yes i’ve cleaned the block and sensor and ran through all common trouble shooting.

Make sure to use a fresh alkaline battery and that the LED light turns green when removing the probe from the charger. the device is unreliable and often breaks

I bought it in 2023, it broke just a few months later, they changed it under warranty, in March 2025, it broke again, they changed the box under warranty and now the probe no longer works, its maximum temperature is 527F which is no longer the norm in 2025, many other meater is 1000F, it is very easy to exceed 527F and do not want to apply the warranty so I bought their competitor which is at 1000F. This probe has a weakness, I do not recommend. They see remotely because of your account if the probe exceeds 527F and all users have exceeded this heat point at least once during cooking and they immediately cancel to make this probe disappear from the market which costs them a lot of money so the big loser is the consumer.

Garantieversprechen - Rücksendung eine Katastrophe

Meine Erfahrung bezieht sich auf die 30 tägige Rückgabegarantie. Es ist eine einzige Katastrophe. Weil ich parallel ein Set geschenkt bekommen habe, wollte ich das gekaufte nach einer Woche zurückgeben. Habe auf der Website nach dem Vorgehen geschaut und den empfohlenen Chat (aus Deutschland) gewählt. Seit dieser Zeit hänge ich rund 2 Stunden in Chatverläufen um die notwendigen Infos für den Versand per HERMES zu bekommen. Immer die gleichen Textbausteine. Am Anfang hieß es noch, ich bekommen ein Rücksendeetikett (was eigentlich üblich ist). Jetzt soll ich die Kosten bezahlen. Und Achtung: Der Versand erfolgt auf eigene Kosten in die Niederlande. Falls es Meater interessiert: #37A0C535

Update 25.04.2025: Nachdem die Rücksendung angekommen ist, war der Kontakt per Chat mit Meater unkompliziert. Nennung der Tracking-ID, Bestellnummer und E-Mail. Die Rückerstattung (Paypal) hat nur einige Minuten gedauert. Daher jetzt 3 Sterne.
@Meater: Bitte auch in Europa die Rücksendung einfacher machen.

Don’t waste your money, time or energy !!!!!!!

Absolutely terrible meat thermometer. If I could’ve given ZERO stars I would have. This probe disconnects every 5 to 10 seconds and then takes five minutes for it to reconnect to my phone. I’m literally sitting 6 feet away from my grill. Looks like I’m gonna be sleeping outside with an instant read thermometer to cook a brisket. Piece of junk. INKBIRD here I come. Inkbird can’t be any worse.

Hier zijn een paar snelle tips die u direct kunnen helpen: Zorg ervoor dat de probe niet in het dock zit terwijl u verbinding probeert te maken, controleer het Bluetooth-bereik en probeer tijdens gebruik dichtbij te blijven. Controleer tot slot op mogelijke storingsbronnen, zoals metalen oppervlakken of andere elektronica, die het signaal kunnen verstoren. No Customer Loyalty

I have owned a Meater Block for 4 years and have owned a Meater Plus before that. I have also purchased 4 Meater Pluses and one Meater Block as gifts. I loved the product and the app however since the beginning I have had issues with support. Any flare up on the grill immediately registers the temp above 500 degrees and the support team has continually used that as the reason for any connection issues or problems I have had. My current Block no longer will consistently pair with any of the probes. I have been on the phone with them for hours on multiple occasions trying to get an answer. It always comes down to either the probes or the block base. I get it its not under warranty and I've used it a lot. I asked for the cost to upgrade the unit and probes to a Meater Pro XL with the new higher temp probes. I was quoted a 25% discount which I decided I could live with. When I called back to move forward I was told that deal was not offered and that the best they could do was 15%. I explained that a new customer signing up for email and text alerts gets 10% off and 15% for an existing customer with a malfunctioning unit was not acceptable. In the end I found out that all my brand loyalty was worth 5% to them. I ordered a Typhur Sync Gold Quad and we'll see how that works.

Don't waste your money on the new version

I owned a previous Meater and loved it. I changed the battery only yearly and it always worked! I now got a new Meater Pro Duo. Terrible. I have had it two months and tried to use it 6 times after fully charging it 2 times. It has only worked once. The base battery is always dead. It needs recharging each time before I can use it. Why the change from the old base which had a single AA battery that lasted a year and always worked. I wasted my money on this as it never works. I have called tech support 2 times and gone through setting it up again 3 times as well as firmware updates. No change. Terrible and would never buy again. May as well save money and buy a cheap generic version. So sad as was a great product before it was "improved". The one time of 6 that it actually worked it was great and did a good job.

Hi, and thanks for posting your comments on the MEATER Pro Duo. The minimum charge time for the Duo is 15 minutes, and double that for a full charge that can last about 24 hours. If the charger is not in use (i.e., asleep), the internal battery can last as long as 5 months if it was put away at maximum capacity. However, there was a known issue with some Duo units that caused the charger to drain prematurely, but this has been corrected with latest firmware release, which may not have been available since your previous contact with MEATER Customer Service. You can check the version through the app by tapping the three dots at the top, selecting, My Devices, then choosing your Duo where it is listed under My Paired Extender Devices. Once you are there, confirm that it is running at least v3.0.9.8.

Don’t buy

They say it’s submergable but won’t work in crock pot. ?? Then I got some smart a$$ in the chat telling me I should have checked for approved devices. Well it said deep fryer and sous vide so why won’t it work in a crock pot.? He tells me the material used in cooking method. Glass lid vs metal smoker lid. ??Save your $400 and buy another unit

There are cooking appliances that may not be compatible with MEATER devices due to their heavy insulation, causing range issues since the Bluetooth signal strength can’t go through the thick walls. However, you are still capable of using your unit in other cooking appliances such as stoves, grills, ovens, and more.
Additionally, cooking methods such as deep frying or using a sous vide are compatible with our products since they’re usually used without a lid that fully covers the probe, and the Bluetooth signal can easily get out to communicate with the charger. Did not last.

Got MEATR as a cool housewarming gift in November 2023 and used it about six times altogether. They surely time the one-year warranty right since mine bit the dust just after it ran out. Pulled it from a perfectly cooked steak and half the device came out while the other half stayed stuck in my dinner. It's too pricey to replace.

Even if your probes are out of warranty, you'll still have access to MEATER Customer Service, which may be able to provide some options for your damaged unit. But to avoid something like this from occurring in the future, there is a trick that you can use to make the probe easier to remove. If it feels stuck inside a cut of meat, try pushing it in a little further first. This will loosen up the probe, and make it easier to pull out, avoiding excessive force on the end.

Wife bought me as a gift

Wife bought me as a gift. Would not keep charge. Would constantly disconnect. Had hard time getting it to charge. Will never buy again.

If the probe is not maintaining its charge, which can also be responsible for the repeated disconnects (low charge = weak signal), then there are only a couple of reasons that this might be happening. The most common one, and easiest to correct, is simply residue on the probe interfering with its connection to the charger. This is quick to fix by just giving it a good cleaning, using steel wool and baking soda, which should still be done even if nothing is really visible on the probe. While there are also a few other things that can be checked as well, diagnosing cany concerns with your MEATER is always going to be easier with one of our agents on the line.
