We were excited to shop at Millie & Ralph’s after reading the positive reviews and because we wanted to support a local business.

Our first visit to purchase a travel system was disappointing. We waited for almost an hour without being acknowledged, despite several members of staff being present. There were boxes scattered around the store, and a sales assistant even tripped over one, nearly colliding with me. We contacted the branch the following day to share our experience, and to their credit, they apologised.

Because we wanted to support a local retailer and valued the opportunity to see and compare different travel systems in person—something that has become increasingly rare with so many baby products sold online—we decided to give them another chance.

Our second visit was much better, and we were excited to order our travel system along with a few other items for our little boy. However, we were never informed that requesting a price match would mean losing out on the in-store vouchers that normally come with the purchase. Had we known, we would likely have chosen not to price match, as we would have used those vouchers. We placed our order in May and requested delivery towards the end of July.

When July arrived, things became stressful. We received a call saying that our car seat and ISOFIX base had arrived, but the pram had not. As the end of July was only a few days away and our little boy was due to arrive early, this naturally caused us some concern.

Later that week, we called to check whether the pram had arrived so we could collect everything. We were then told that the pram had actually arrived the previous day, but nobody had contacted us. Even more frustratingly, we were informed that the car seat we had twice been told had arrived earlier in the week was, in fact, not there at all. After waiting three months for our order, this level of miscommunication was incredibly disappointing. What should have been an exciting and straightforward collection became an unnecessary source of stress at an already difficult time.

We have now been told that the car seat and ISOFIX base will be sent by courier once they arrive.

I’m genuinely disappointed to be writing such a negative review because we really wanted to have a positive experience supporting a local business. Unfortunately, the customer service has been very inconsistent, with poor communication throughout the ordering process. The store itself is also now around a third of the size it was when we first visited, with far fewer products on display, so the experience is very different from what initially attracted us.

Based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend ordering a travel system from Millie & Ralph’s. I would instead recommend purchasing directly from the manufacturer or from a retailer that has the products readily available in stock to avoid the uncertainty and communication issues we experienced.

We also asked for a call from the owners as the management in store were not helpful and were told this could not be facilitated.
