Still sucking wind.....four days goin back and forth thru the offerup site....I gave the ignorant seller my number on first contact and he wants to go thru 4 days of bs communication on offerup...

Offerup Is a poor example of an on-site classified ad venue. They have a complete lack of customer service My wife and I wanted to try something other than eBay
It was disheartening The Way customer service was so lacking on Offerup

Feeling scammed

Feeling scammed. OfferUp assigned a shipping date to me only to cancel my $216 sale on the day that I shipped to the buyer. I was told by support not to worry, just contact them when the item is delivered and to provide a screenshot of the USPS receipt which I did, then crickets. I followed up with the seller who confirmed receipt of the order and that everything was just fine. Great, now i have no way of knowing if and when the cancellation will be reversed and I will be paid because a bot is now responding to me stating that support hours have closed. Sellers beware. This is my first and only time selling anything on OfferUp.

Update 3/13/25 - After failed attempts to reach support, I reached out to the buyer to request that he try reaching support on my behalf to confirm receipt. He kindly acknowledged my request and told me that OfferUp told him to tell me that their system didn’t receive the tracking update so the payment was not processed and to contact them to reprocess payment. I’d only been replying to what I now know was a bot several times over several days to prove delivery, so I try one more time and finally get a response. No payout yet, transaction still pending as of now.

It is Sad that this websites gets so much negative review. hey guys all the problems you are facing because of so much scam/bad people on the platforms they sell or buy. its not because of the offerup team, they might put lots of measurements to avoid in future may help them

No support

No support for transactions that go bad. Would give a negative star review if it was possible. Buyer beware on any items that need to be shipped.

SCAMMERS GALORE

The NUMBER ONE WORST SITE for buying anything. BETTER THAN 60% of the sellers are CROOKS listing items they DO NOT HAVE in an attempt to STEAL $$ and personal data. Worse yet, when you REPORT the FAKE LISTINGS to support THEY LEAVE THEM UP and continue to allow criminals to post. This shows the site CAN'T BE TRUSTED. Do yourself a favor and STEER CLEAR. You've been warned

UPDATE: Since OfferUp has requested my contact info, I'd recommend they take a look at the number of sellers listing Apple products using cut/paste photos from other sites, or worse yet, from other OfferUp sellers. Then see how many use screen shots that give a 'fake explanation' of why the price is so low AND a phone number to contact them! Also, there are countless sellers who list iPhones with a screen shot of the box rather than the phone. As a successful Ebay seller I'd recommend OfferUp seller verification be dramatically improved. Any criminal that can create an account with a fake name, email and phone isn't going to help ratings on this site. Seems pretty clear 99.9% of the people who have experience find its anything but worthwhile

This "website" is a nightmare. I was on for 3 months with great prices & plenty to sell. They booted me for selling Blue Line hoodies which support law enforcement. No customer service, don't waste your time like I did, they lie & said I had a URL in my description which I did not, good riddance ....

Horrible Experience

Bought a car when I was residing in Southern California from a seller and I would say that the car was in a terrible state. Externally the car looked as if it were in perfect condition, but it had so many internal issues. Not to add that seller was extremely nasty and rude when following up with him later. I wish I had the details of the seller, unfortunately I do not. If I am able to obtain that information I will certainly provide that information on here. This occurred during the end of 2021 and/or the beginning of 2022 as that is the time frame in which I resided in Southern California.

Offer up claims it's free but then asks…

Offer up claims it's free but then asks for a credit card which they will continue to bill you even after you unsubcribe. I had to put a dispute into my credit card and froze it for future use from offer up. I believe I was scammed and they offer NO resolution.

I would have liked to offer zero (0) stars as their service is nothing but a scam. Having listed and sold a simple Vitamix, OfferUp suspended my account, reinstated it with an apology, suspended it again... again another empty apology... and after complaining that their actions sacrificed an addtional sale, they permanently removed my account. I have lost the items and have not been compensated. Good riddance.

Update. After sending a copy of the above complaint to OfferUp support, I was informed that they would reimburse me for the selling price of the item.
They made good on their offer and the funds were received as promised.
I appreciate their follow-up, but I am still a bit leery of selling. Perhaps I might gamble with another offering sometime in the future.

Terrible app

This is a terrible app for buying and selling. The search tool is not good and inconsistent. They have adds on the app which are very annoying. I will never use this app again. Even though Craigslist is very basic layout and not very eye catching, it is way better to navigate and no ads. I will use Craigslist or facebook marketplace for buying stuff in the future.

Offer Up and be Deactivated! Fantastic!!!

I did not want to put any star at all but was required to.This Company or group of owners as listed online should be shut down because of their treatment in my case deactivating my account abrubtly with an email accusing me of violating the public trust!!! I have sold on Ebay for 26 years and have 100% feedback rating because i DO NOT Violate the trust and did nothing wrong!! I cannot recommend this platform for this reason and also because there is just no traffic speak of. I have a popular Gold Coin which has been going up for months and not one message from the platform!! Do not waste the time!!

Too many fake buyers

Too many fake buyers , do l need to say more. I have had so many people saying they want to buy an item and then don't. It's sad because it makes it bad for people that actually want to make a purchase. If you don't want to buy then stop wasting our time.

Horrific security with email fraud

Someone stole my email address and used my account inappropriately. I received a notice that I was permanently deactivated and when I went to appeal I got a bot like response.

You'd think they'd like to know that their security policy is pathetic, but I suppose they don't care! The 1 star overall score makes sense to me now - here's 1 more.

I Reported this to my credit card Fraud Department.

I went to the OfferUp app & it required me to enter a credit card in case I purchased something. 2 cards were declined & one hour later a fraudulent charge was put on one of the cards. I had to cancel it! I should have been more suspicious when a card was requested b4 a purchase. Now I worry about the 2nd card.

Fraud involved offer up in 2020

I worked offer up in 2020. Wow. And they just responded to me about fraud that happened with them. Unbelievable. I would not trust them with a piece of gum. This is insane. Over 4yrs to respond. Lmao. What a joke of a company

I joined & deleted my Account in one…

I joined & deleted my Account in one day the customer service is abysmal! I posted my items to sell & was notified that I supposedly sold an item. Then "magically" they needed extra verification, which I provided repeatedly. They only use chat customer service, no human to speak to. It took the customer 30 min to verify, after I had already given information. I gave up & decided not yo use this shady platform. They make it to difficult to be paid & to be verified. Not a friendly platform whatsoever.
