Watch Out for Offerup Scam

Watch Out for Offerup Scam under "Gabriel Agosti" It is not Legit. Don't put a card number in the lookalike page. Thay ask for a current balance of the card to verify "That is a scam tactic"
The following is a paragraph from Offerup Support
"Upon review, the recent messages you received from the buyer named Gabriel Agosti is not a valid purchase or transaction. For a legitimate offer, the application should notify you regarding whether you choose to accept or decline the offer. Once accepted, a shipping label will be generated and sent either to your email or will appear in the message thread."

So many scammers

So many scammers they sell and don’t even have an account setup with OfferUp .Trying to get people to pay other ways.OfferUp needs to police the account a hell of a lot better than they do or someone needs to shut them down.

They failed to keep my account…

They failed to keep my account information safe from hackers my account was locked. When I had tried to log in I had no success when I finally did get back in it lasted 3 days before my account was closed due there terms and conditions . I have never posted anything on offer up I buy tools house hold furniture etc. They are accusing me of posting something illegal . I got no date when or what they saying it was all I know is they failed to keep my info secured and now there blaming me for and deactivated my account for some thing I didn't do . I know there are lots of other people out there that they have done this to .I have been in contact with them and they are helping me with what coarse of action to take . Anyone who reads this and is suffering they same treatment . Take action because if not they will make you look bad for nothing because that's how they make a profit

NO SELLERS PROTECTION & NO ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL!

I have used OfferUp for years & it was a great app that I would have about equal success selling as I do on Craigslist... Then shortly after they started offering the shopping option I posted an iphone for sale that I had found between the seats in a car I'd bought.. I didn't use iPhones so wasn't familiar with "cloud locked" & I was able to open & use the phone on the Internet & apps, I also checked the IMEI & blacklist which showed it was Not stolen or blacklisted so I posted it thru their shipping & had a few people asking with one asking questions for a week or more thru OfferUp I made it clear that I didn't know what cloud or google locked was & that I was able to use it on the net & the apps & also gave them the info of the phone to check for themselves which they did & confirmed it's wasn't stolen or blacklisted before agreeing to but the phone so I shipped it thru OfferUp & then I heard nothing for i think 4 or 5 days when the buyer starts saying the phone is cloud/ google locked & for the 10th time at least I said "I don't know what that is & confirmed that they were able to open & use it on the net just as I was.. after a back & forth I offered to try to contact the person who's name was in the phone again (I had already done so a few times without response before selling it) & see if they would mind removing the lock as it wasn't stolen & hadn't been used in 6 to 8 months (again buyer confirmed before agreeing to buy it) I tried again, no response & the buyer stopped responding so I assumed they figured it out but then noticed I hadn't received payment or heard a single thing from OfferUp? They hold payments in an escrow accnt as part of their shipping option for a fee... So I contact OfferUp support & was floored by their response which simply said that the buyer said the phone was stolen so they cancelled the transaction, returned the the buyers money & were having the buyer ship my phone back to OfferUp!?! WTF... I respond asking why would they would do anything like that without even attempting to get my side of it & they say that they took that action after investigating & determining the phone was stolen, if I continued to sell stolen goods I'd be banned & that was all they could tell me for security reasons which is COMPLETE BS! It's a site for selling used goods NOT some national security risk!!! How can you possibly do any kind of "investigation" without getting both sides & if they simply checked our message exchange on their site it was clear that I gave the buyer the phone info which they checked themselves & confirmed IT WAS NOT A STOLEN PHONE & STILL SHOWED NOT TO BE STOLEN AFTER THIS CRAP! So it's still a mystery what they do as an investigation? How they determined that a longtime customer with only good reviews was without question the bad one here but from my prospective all they did was help someone scam me out of my item or they ended up stealing my phone? They won't say if the buyer ever actually sent the phone to them "for security reasons"? On TOP OF THAT WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE TO CONFISCATE ANYTHING & REFUSE INFO ON IT TO THE PERSON WHO IS CLAIMING OWNERSHIP!!! WHERE IS THEIR SELLERS PROTECTION CONSIDERING WE TAKE ALL THE RISK!? I will add that I was a seller with probably 2 or 3 years of history on the app & NO BAD REVIEWS... The "buyer" was very new with little to no history & they screwed me on their word WITH ZERO OPPORTUNITY GIVEN TO THE PERSON IN GOOD STANDING & WHO IS THE ONE TAKING ALL THE RISK THAT IS ALLOWING THEM TO GENERATE THAT EXTRA REVENUE... ME! YET THEY OFFER ZERO CONSIDERATION, ZERO PROTECTION, & AFTER SEVERAL Attempts TO CONTACT & REPEATED REQUESTS TO BE CONTACTED BY A LIVE PERSON FROM OFFERUP OR EVEN FOR A NUMBER THAT I CAN CALL TO TALK TO ONE.......... THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE DECENCY TO RESPOND AT ALL!?! Since this happened it pretty clear that they definitely limit the exposure of posts that are not paying for their "boost your ads" option bcuz views & sales thru this app have been almost non-existent & many of the messages that do come seem to be fake as the questions don't make sense & they often don't respond but either way this app has been ruined by whomever has been running it & the stupidest thing they've done is Not providing any place for human contact!!!
Here is how backwards the people running offerup are... I tried everything i could to contact them & requested they have someone contact me probably a dozen times which they completely ignored & yet the day i write this review they try to keep it from going public by requesting more info... WHAT A JOKE!!!

Why are there five stars

Why are there five stars? The site must be designed for people to sell stolen products, because I will toss it in the trash before selling for those prices. I have never sold anything through that site. I list them then eventually sell them elsewhere. People will offer $1 for a brand new Lamborghini with the title. I'll buy that block of gold valued at 50K for $1 if you ship for free.

Absolutely horrible, permanently banned for absolutely no reason . They give you no reason.
I will never use this app again , I prefer eBay , Mercari, Craigslist anyhthing over OfferUp

Offerup is a scam

They have issues when is time to payout, numerous pop ups from. Diffrent sites, my phone has gotten a virus and it started after I downloaded the offer app application, this site has alot of issues!!!!!!!!

As for the virus, mobile apps go through a rigorous security vetting process, and it's very unlikely that the OfferUp app itself was the source. I recommend running a scan with your preferred antivirus software.

Warning: Stay Away from OfferUp

OfferUp takes advantage of its customers and refuses to cancel accounts when requested. This led to my account going negative and incurring overdraft fees. Instead of canceling as asked, they respond with empty promises like, "We’ll call you," which is just a tactic to retain customers. To make matters worse, they billed me again without authorization.

Their ads are ineffective, and the app is now cluttered with intrusive pop-up advertising, making it frustrating to use. OfferUp only cares about their bottom line and shows concern for customers only when it benefits them. I strongly recommend avoiding this greedy company.

Since we haven't received a reply with more details here on Trustpilot, we can't access your account information. The most common reason for unexpected charges is a subscription. Cancelling these happens directly through your App Store or Google Play account, not the OfferUp app itself. Please note that we are unable to cancel subscriptions on your behalf.

OfferUp has lost their integrity. RIP.

Been using this for years as experiences and pricing is much better than greed of EBay and safer than Craigslist or FB Marketplace…but as with every good product, this company has lost it’s integrity and has become a GIANT TEMU and AD service, and littered with obvious scams. First, you have to struggle finding real products you’re searching for because there is no differentiation between them and ads. Then, when you win the lotto and find something you’ve been searching for, then you’ll be hit with a multitude of other ads. Their answer to everyone is simply to buy the ‘Premium Package’ to supplement their greed by double-dipping. It’s a shame, and as the old adage goes, All good things must come to an end. RIP OfferUp, you had a good run.

What on earth has happened to Offerup…

What on earth has happened to Offerup since late November 2024. Not one sale in December since the shipping rates went up. They never answer any request from a seller. I,m very disappointed with this app. I sold pretty good all year long, as of late November not one sale has come in. I don,t know if my account has been suspended or what? But all I know is not one inquiry has been done.

I’ve been using this app for years and…

I’ve been using this app for years and it is more and more becoming a waste of time. People want you to give you the items for free, they often do not show for meetings after you have given them your address and OfferUp does not note that on people’s profiles. It’s all about ads, ads, ads, ads and money $$$ anymore for this site. I’ve had high quality items posted for months with nothing and listed for dirt cheap. This app has zero traffic it’s obsolete I think I’m gonna delete it soon.

Meeting up with buyers and sellers is a key part of the OfferUp experience, and we want every interaction to be positive. Before meeting up, check a user's profile for ratings and reviews to get a sense of their reliability. For your safety, we always recommend meeting in a public place with good lighting, plenty of people, and ideally, camera surveillance. Avoid meeting at your home. If a buyer or seller doesn't show up at your agreed-upon time and place, please report them in the app.

I totally understand how ads can be frustrating. Ads allow us to keep the core OfferUp experience free and help us invest in new features to make the app even better. If you’d prefer an ad-free experience, we do offer a subscription option called Premium that includes other benefits, as well.

I am sorry to hear your items haven't moved yet. If these listings are under 20lbs, be sure to enable shipping if you haven't already. Your listing will be viewed not just locally but by shoppers nationwide. We're also constantly working to increase user engagement and connect buyers and sellers.

greedy thief’s now they r charging for ads :)) and they will block your account for funny reasons even if u have 1000000 all positive reviews and they will not block criminals accounts which is they r posting all day long illegal items and OfferUp allows them to run the show.Do not trust OfferUp .

Every time I try to contact or make an…

Every time I try to contact or make an offer I don't get a response from seller and, they keep having the item for sale for months. I wish offerup will discontinue long term adds that doesn't responde.

To provide some insight, there are a few reasons this might happen — users may turn off notifications, stop using the app without removing their listings, or simply not reply to offers. While we can’t penalize users for not responding to offers, please know that inactive listings are eventually archived to help keep the marketplace current.

To save yourself the hassle, I recommend looking out for the Responsiveness tag on a seller’s profile. This indicates how quickly they typically reply and can help you connect with someone more likely to respond promptly. Account deleted for no good reason.

I used to sell locally on OfferUp. Then, with 743 5-star reviews under my belt, my account got deactivated without warning or reason given. For six months I tried to get it back and I got a number of meaningless prefab responses. OfferUp simply refused to solve the problem. Customer service at this company is non existent. It is clear though that scammers seem to have unrestricted access. Too bad I can't less than one star.
