I did not like the chair that I…

I did not like the chair that I received (Steelcase Leap v2). I sent about 8 emails asking for help returning the chair and I was able to get something worked out for a free return label and full refund. The customer support was fast in replying to my messages, they usually responded to one of my messages within 24 hours. If you are considering purchasing from the website, here are 3 things I would suggest.
1. Make sure you read the terms and conditions on their webpage. You should be aware of what does and does not qualify for free shipping/warranty/full refund/restocking fee.
2. Understand that they sell refurbished items so cosmetic damage such as loose threads, stained steel, scuff marks are to be expected and may not qualify for a full refund.
3. Understand shipping will take some time. The Estimation for my chair was 5-15 business days and my package arrived in about 2 weeks.

I am giving 3 stars because even though my refund and free shipping does not qualify under their terms and conditions, they allowed it because I am leaving an honest review of their service.

Because they have the lowest price around, I was a bit skeptical that Office Chair @ Work would deliver. My fears were unfounded. The Herman Miller chair came on time and was in great condition. Their customer service was awesome - helping me solve a minor issue with the adjustable lumbar support. Take this word from a satisfied customer, “You can trust them.”

Very Responsive

The Herman Miller Aeron I ordered was left on my porch by FedEx and a leg from the base was sticking out of the box and the leg was damaged. I emailed OC@W and within a week I had a new base and caster that fell off. Yes, the chair was slow to ship, but it was FREE shipping- they tell you up front. Also, the chair is great! I'd definitely buy again from OC@W!

ORDERING OFFICE CHAIR ONLINE CAN BE A TRICKY AND COSTLY EXPERIENCE.…

I ordered an office chair on November 18 and have not been able to hear or get any follow up to my emails.
I noted that the picture of the chair on the web site had a leather top, however I found out later that the chair was going to be with a fabric top.
It is impossible to get anyone to answer the calls.
As of December 5th did not get any answer to my questions about the leather seat or received the chair.
Would just need to have a valid telephone number and the name of a person to talk to.

The various emails did not get any answer so far.
This is a very bad purchase experience and I would not wish that on anyone. It is also impossible to know who own or manage this company.

Broken Steelcase Leap Chair--misrepresented comment by dealer

The Steelcase Leap Chair that I received--after being deceived that the order was cancelled--has a broken height mechanism and a cracked wheel. I placed the order not realizing that this company sells "refurbished" items. The only way to contact the company is via email, despite a phone number listed on the website. I placed the order on a Friday afternoon and decided to cancel that Sunday--via email of course. I received an email response that day and thought the order was cancelled. However, that was not the case. The carefully worded email said they would cancel the order if the chair had not been shipped. Was this faulty item shipped immediately after placing the order on a Friday? It turned up 11 days after the order in a battered box and in semi- functional condition. I have only been able to adjust the seat height with the aid of online videos from other companies and it is not a permanent fix--or in fact it is permanent, in the sense that only by taking the chair apart again can the seat height be readjusted.

Comment from supplier MISREPRESENTS my review. THIS IS A NEGATIVE REVIEW. Chair height does NOT adjust--the "set screw" is missing and the internal mechanism has a broken metal part, that would not allow function even if the set screw was in place. Plus, one of the casters for the wheel is broken.

These reviews really made me nervous about this company. I asked about my chair twice, the response was quick but meaningless. I got my chair after 11 days and it was during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. All in good order, very satisfied with my interaction with the company and the chair itself.

Avoid this company!

Avoid this Company! Office Chair At Work (aka Seating Mind) will scam you into believing they have restored chairs as advertised on their online website when all they really have are junkyard mismatched chairs. This company has the worst customer service with misleading and deceptive business practices. I paid $299 online for a restored Knoll office chair and a defective chair was finally delivered after over a month of processing, which is insane! This company will not give you a status update on processing or delivery time unless you contact them, but they will immediately take your money knowing your product is not available or ready to be shipped out. They will only send you the FedEx tracking label that will be in pending status limbo because your chair is not available for FedEx pickup! When I persistently contacted customer support, Evelyn Kinsley will only respond with standard emails that it will take 5-15 days to process. Luckily, I used PayPal so after 15 wasted days went by and no chair, I requested a refund, cancelled my order and escalated my issues to PayPal. When PayPal investigated my issue, Office Chair At Work did not honor my cancellation, but instead sends out an unassembled chair that's damaged with missing/mismatched parts and wrong model. They were only motivated to ship out a junky chair because of PayPal's investigation! At this point, my only option was to pay over $120 in shipping to return the defective chair so I could get fully refunded!
This shady company has bad reviews on Yelp and the positive reviews on their website are fake or mistaken for a reputable online website called "Office Chairs", which is registered with the Better Business Bureau. I will report Office Chair at Work to the BBB for false advertising and deceptive business practices.

The chairs are used and dirty

The on-site reviews are abviously a scam and they take advantage of folks being excited over finding a good deal.

Not bad!

I ordered a Steelcase Leap and then later got spooked by all the negative reviews. Worried myself sick that I was going to lose all my money or end up with junk... I just got the chair in and found it to be in pretty good shape (not perfect, but so far nothing seems too bad.
Maybe I was just lucky and of course YMMV but I wanted to get a relatively positive review out here.

STOP! DON'T DO IT!

SERIOUSLY STOP!!!! Do not buy from this very shady company! I purchased a Humanscale Freedom Chair with an added "headrest." When the chair finally arrived, it was damaged, broken, and dirty (see details below). The headrest is also falsely advertised, as it comes nowhere near my head even when I lean back in the chair.

Since the chair was damaged on arrival, I assumed the company would immediately provide a return shipping label and send a pristine, perfectly clean and functioning replacement chair. After all, they claim to have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. But that is a complete farce!!! They have refused to provide a shipping label for the chair to be returned. They have refused to offer a replacement chair (I assume because all of their chairs are garbage). And they have of course refused to refund my money! They have stolen my money!!!! They have been extremely rude and unprofessional. When, after several attempts to get these shady people to do the right thing, I told them I would dispute the charges with my credit card company, their "very polite and extremely patient customer service agent" stated: "If you file a chargeback YOU WILL NEVER EVER SEE YOUR REFUND AS WE WILL LOCK THE CHARGE UP IN DISPUTE FOREVER."

So they have admitted that they intend to steal my money FOREVER!!!! WOW!!!

Broken and terrible chair details:
Upon arrival:
The leather on the back cushion was torn.
The left armrest was completely broken (plastic cracked all the way through making it completely useless. It has literally fallen off the chair.
The armrest mechanism was loose.
The wheels were filthy dirty with grime and dead skin all over them.
And the seat height adjustment mechanism was broken, so the seat sinks while sitting in it, until it is too low for comfort.

Stay as far away as humanly possible

Cancelled my order within minutes of ordering. They indicated by email that they have indeed cancelled order. For some reason order was shipped two weeks later anyway. Asked them why. They gave me some BS answer about the warehouse blah blah blah. Had Amex refund the charge. Asked them to come collect the chair. They provided me with a FedEx slip. Taped it to box and scheduled a pickup. The FedEx guy scanned the slip and said the number was invalid. Going to leave out with the next garbage collection unless they come collect. I’m sure they’ll find some way to eff me still. Sketchy every step of the way. Just when you think they can’t get any scummier they sink even deeper. None of their phone numbers are real. Is almost humorous at this point.

EDIT: I was now flat-out accused of trying to get a free chair off of them. The plot thickens…

EDIT2: they said if I don’t allow the FedEx guy to take possession of the package today (with a label the driver is bringing?) from 9-12 they will do something very bad to me. Guess what? My wife and/or I have been here all morning (box has been on my doorstep since 7:45 am) and not a peep from FedEx or “Evelyn.” It’s currently 11:57…let’s see what happens!

EDIT 3: FedEx to my surprise actually came to pick up the package! I’m sure this can’t possibly be the end of these people in my life, is it? Guess we’ll have to wait and see, friends…

Avoid at all costs

I bought a chair from these people online. I was aware of the shipping policy, whatever, it'll take up to 14 days.

So I notice the day after I bought it, they printed a shipping label. I think the reason they do this is so that they can post the credit card charge and start the clock ticking early. More on that later.

So I wait a little over a week after I paid, I notice the item still hasn't shipped. So I email them. I get a response offering to expedite for 100 bucks (Kind of rubs me the wrong way because I've already waited 7 days...) and telling me to "Have a Wonderful Day" (Who says that?)

So the item eventually ships in week 2, right on 14 days. I live about 4 hours from their warehouse, so it's expected to get to me the next business day, yay. So I wait a few days, it doesn't get to me. Contact customer service again, ask them to do a trace, the "Wonderful" person at customer service, Evelynn, is unwilling to do that, tells me to call UPS, usually that's the shipper's responsibility. So I go through the rigamarole and I get someone at UPS to do a trace, they find within a couple hours that the package is gone. They start a claim, admit it's gone, etc all in writing. So I send that info on over to office chair at work, they tell me I'll need to wait 5 days, that's fine, I wait a few days, UPS's status on the tracking number is still "Lost". So I email back, and they said wait up to another 14 days and that I should "Have a Wonderful Day", they offer to either refund after 14 days or send a replacement out which would once again have the terrible slow ship time. At that point I'd seen the reviews here, I decided I didn't want to risk the replacement, and I didn't want to wait another 2 weeks for them to try to ship a chair.

So I respond, please refund my money. Then I get in contact with UPS, I get them to tell me that they'd already issued a claim check to Office Chair at Work. So that leaves me wondering, why are they making me wait this long for a refund? Then it occurs to me, they're running down the clock on my ability to chargeback. So I give office chair at work one more try, I say "Please refund my money immediately." I know, dear reader, you probably read english, so you know what those words mean, right? Well Evelynn didn't. She asked if I wanted a replacement. I decided maybe if I call these people it'll be easier than sending emails, of course the phone number doesn't actually work, it just directs you to email.

At that point, I'd had enough, called the credit card company, initiated a chargeback. Won the dispute for "item not received".

The moral of the story, just don't bother doing business with these people. I ended up finding the same chair cheaper locally anyway and without the frustration. They'll tell you to have a wondeful day, but if you buy from them, you certainly won't.

Update: Office chair at work responded. I see they didn't understand the point of this review, reading comprehension continues to be an issue here. The issue wasn't that UPS lost the chair, it was that they failed to make it right, and failed to make an effort not waste my time. The customer service was the issue here.

They are the worst

They are the worst. I picked the Herman Miller Aeron Chair. I was very aware that I was choosing a "refurbished" chair. What i received was a joke. was sent in a box that had no form or padding. The box was ripped apart with huge gapping holes held together with scotch tape. The chair itself was missing 3 casters out of five. It was banged up, filthy and the lumbar pillow was ripped. At first I wasn't concerned as I read their website and it says "Money Back Guarantee" "Free Returns" etc. That is a lie. They would send me a different chair and If i sent his one back they would charge me for shipping and 65% restocking fee.
They have no concern for your satisfaction. They are a rip off..

PS. In reply to Office Chairs reply- again not truthful. I did contact them through customer service emails as they won’t take phone calls They didn’t offer me a base. They offered the casters and lumbar replacement but weren’t concerned at all with damaged to rest of chair. I accepted 65$ so that i could replace the casters and lumbar myself because I don’t trust I would ever get the items from them. The chair is a mess. They definitely told me through their uncaring customer service emails that I would have to pay shipping and restocking fees. Do not trust this company. They have no concern for their customers or repeat business

Not happy with their service.

I am not happy with their service. I ordered a Steelcase Gesture Office Chair. The price was good, but when it came in the packaging was sketchy, there was no paperwork, and the chair had the appearance of being used. It was in good shape, other than there was a looseness to it that should not have been there. I had bought this chair for my wife, but it bothered her back right away and she did not really like it, so we decided to return it. Although they advertise that returns are free and there is a 30 day return policy, they do not pay return shipping and they do not send you a return shipping label. So far, the cheapest return shipping I have found (I have checked FedEx and UPS) for this chair is $348.82. I believe that they are counting on the fact that return shipping is too expensive and that few people will choose that option.

Received a Steelcase Leap from Office Chair @ Work

Received a Steelcase Leap from officechairatwork.com and it was delayed by +1 month due to high demand, apparently. The package contains NO instructions! I attempted to put the chair together myself and the cylinder ended up very low to the ground, so I had to prop the seat up to its maximum height, but it was still too low for me. Contacted customer care and they replied with a link to some poorly articulated videos, but unfortunately, the videos didn't help at all. Contacted customer care requesting to speak with someone, but Evelyn Kinsley from the Customer Care Team just continued to refer me to the same online videos. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Wow. all i can say is wow

Wow, a horrific experience from start to finish. Shipping delays, rude customer support, inferior product, and then the runaround when trying to get a defective item replaced. I eventually had to ship the chair back at my expense ($50!) and now have nothing to show for it but a bunch of wasted time

This company scammed me out of $1100.

This company scammed me out of $1100.
I payed $700 for a chair. It lasted about 4 weeks before the seat started falling apart. I contacted them and they said they'd send a new seat. I waited two weeks, asked for the tracking info and they said it would be another two weeks. It's now three months of this same BS later, and FedEx still says that they haven't received it from them. I finally gave up and asked for a refund. They told me they would give me a 100% refund with no restocking fee. They made me pay for shipping ($400) I called UPS and confirmed that it arrived. I gave them all the info the need and they have blocked my email address. I don't even get the automated responses back. During all this I ordered a REAL HM Aeron, and compared them side-by-side. The materials used on a real chair are FAR higher quality than what they use in the refurbish, which explains why mine broke. This is NOT a legit business. They are scammers only. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Poor quality

I purchased an office from this company and after 4 months the chair broke. I was sent a replacement part that does not work or address the problem. I have sent many pictures to the Office Chair at Work and they refuse to honor their products. I would give them less than one star if possible.

Your response does not even begin to address the problem. Yes, you sent a video. The problem is YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE ORIGINAL PART BECAUSE IT HAS BROKEN OFF INSIDE WHERE THE BOLT GOES. Your response is not acceptable. We want a full refund of price we paid for this chair.

You STILL have not addressed the problem. I have sent you the order number MANY times.

We want a full refund IMMEDIATELY.

Chair refund, hopefully.

I placed an order for a chair and thought it might be too good to be true. They charged my credit card before the chair shipped. When I decided to check Officechairatwork.com out on the web, I found these reviews. They don't make it obvious that they are reselling refurbished chairs. I contacted customer service and Evelyn responded in a timely manner. I requested a refund and she responded that it would be process assuming the chair had not shipped. Two problems with this.....she said in her initial response that the order was still processing, which means it didn't ship. I checked the tracking number they provided and it also shows the chair has not shipped. She said she would process the refund which could take 7 business days to process. I felt it was unacceptable to say the refund would only be process if the chair had not shipped. I placed the order 5 business days ago and clearly, it has not been shipped, otherwise, it would show as shipped in their system. My guess is they will rush to ship it and say they won't process the refund.

My plan is to file a complaint with the AG office in NJ. Also will dispute the charge with my credit card company. Officechair asked me to wait the process out but I am concerned about them being genuine about the refund due to the reviews I have seen here.

If they process the refund as requested, I will amend my post.

My reply to their reply: Evelyn stated that it would be processed if the chair had not shipped and I asked her for an invoice showing they had processed a refund, which I have not received. If you send me proof that you process a refund, which is standard business practice, I will be happy to amend this post again once I receive the refund. In the meantime, hope you have a wonderful day too.
