Had lasik in Cork. Very thorough and informative prior to operation and operation itself was very efficient.

My consultations were rescheduled multiple times by Optilase. Trying to get an initial consultation was torture, it had been rescheduled atleast 3/4 times by Optilase. My one month post op appointment was booked but they rang and it was rearranged again, so I booked a day off work to attend, AGAIN. On the morning of the appointment, they called to cancel it.

The only time I felt well looked after was on the day of my surgery, the staff in Carrickmines were absolutely amazing and I was well taken care of. The aftercare has been extremely disappointing, especially for patients who need follow-up after a procedure. The repeated cancellations and rescheduling have been frustrating and completely unreliable.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend Optilase based on my experience with their aftercare. The lack of organisation and professionalism when it comes to post-operative appointments is simply not acceptable.

I have had such a great experience with Optilase from start to finish! Have always felt very supported and welcome. The staff are amazing!

From the very first consultation to 4 weeks post Lasik everyone I have met have been brilliant. The whole team are super friendly and informative not to forget reassuring.
I wish I done this year's ago as the actual surgery is a breeze itself and the recovery was not anywhere near as bad as expected. Highly recommend laser and specially with Optilase, you won't meet a more welcoming team of people.

I decided to go to optilase Newry for convenience.I first went to get my examination and met a lady called Leanne and she was so so helpful and professional and took me through the whole process.Igot my surgery in Dublin from a consultant called Mr Hernandez and he was a pure gentleman.I never felt a thing from start to finish.The whole team were so polite and helpful.The only downside of my experience was the parking which was not good and I got clamped.It was on my second visit I discovered a shopping precinct just across from optilase where I could park for free.I would strongly advise anyone to go to optilase for their professional handling of everything.Many Thanks Nicky.

The procedure was scary, but team made me feel safe and it only took a minute or two. 5 years on and still no glasses. I can see when I wake up in morning, i can see in the shower, it's fab! No more contacts or glasses!

I chose Optilase for three reasons: (1) Reputation - Ireland’s best eye surgery specialist, (2) Affordability - Cheaper base price than the likes of Optical Express, (3) Experienced and Supportive staff - Staff who knew exactly what they were doing and how to communicate effectively in an empathetic way.

I was nervous going into the whole process of eye surgery, however, the staff were able to quell these worries. I felt supported every step of the journey. For example, I had an incident post-surgery where a friend hit me on the face by accident. Optilase were quick to get me in for an emergency appointment. All was fine but we wanted to be safe.

The actual process was quick and any pain was minimal. My recommendation with recovery is to follow all of the guidance and not to take any risks. I am 4 months in and I have 20/10 vision now, which is better than 20/20.

I highly recommend Optilase for Laser Eye Surgery. Don’t put things off. My only regret is that I didn’t get this done earlier. You will love your new eyes. Just do it!

I got my eyes Lasered 3days ago and I can honestly say it's been life changing! The recovery has been so quick and plan sailing and I have 20/20 vision back! It's just incredible! The surgery was so quick and simple and far less invasive than I had built up in my head.

I wish I’d have done it sooner! From the very start every appointment was very thorough. The actual surgery itself was so quick and I couldn’t believe the results later that day and especially the following morning! I can see EVERYTHING! I’m so pleased it is honestly life changing, thank you so much! All the staff are so lovely and they really do put you at ease. I would recommend it to everyone, so worth it!

Was very nervous about the procedure initially but the communication and competence of all the staff eased my mind, in particular Macy who answered any questions I had from start to finish.

Went to Optilase Cork due to my eyes not passing a medical examination for the gaurds. From the beginning of the consultation I was met with amazing staff Chelsea and Paul who were so kind and helpful. Paul made the process so calm and I decided to get it straight away and booked in the week after! The day of surgery they were soooo calming and made me feel well taken care of. The after process they continued to give 100% care and I’m very happy with my results so far!

One day post op and I can see perfectly! Everyone at Optilase were so helpful and reassuring. There is nothing to be worried about! It was the slightest bit uncomfortable but it only lasted a few seconds and a lovely nurse was there to count the seconds down. I’m amazed at the results!!

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the scheduling and communication regarding my ongoing treatment following my IOL lens replacement surgery in April 2025.

While the initial surgery and consultation went well, my experience over the past year has been disappointing due to significant delays and administrative issues. After developing Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO) and undergoing two YAG laser treatments, my reading vision remained poor. The subsequent process to address this has been fraught with complications:

- Trial Lens Delays: I experienced two cancelled appointments because a trial contact lens took six weeks to arrive.
- Scheduling Conflicts: After a consultation confirmed that Lasik is required to correct remaining astigmatism, I scheduled a weekend morning appointment to accommodate my 200km round-trip journey from Louth. However, four days before the procedure, I was asked to move this to a Friday afternoon during peak traffic. The alternative offered—Saturday at 11:30 AM with a projected 2-3 hour wait—is equally unsuitable given the travel distance and the impact on those accompanying me.

I feel that because this corrective procedure does not generate new revenue, my care has become a low priority. This process has taken six months longer than necessary, and as a result, I no longer feel comfortable recommending Optilase to others.

On a positive note, I want to commend the staff at the Carrickmines and South William Street clinics; they are professional and helpful. The issue lies within Optilase’s internal systems and communication.

I hope you can address these concerns and provide a more reliable and considerate approach to customers in the future.

Whilst this organisation has a a high standard of optometrists and surgeons, their quality of service is abysmal. I have had appointment times changes without notice, conflicting advice given, missing consent forms, and have been left ignored for the request of non-prescription eyedrops. Furthermore, any calls or emails I have made about this have been left ignored.

They have made the process of laser eye surgery so beyond stressful, I cannot recommend it to anyone I know. If you are nervous about this procedure and require attentive care, avoid this place at all costs.

From beginning to end , my experience with the entire optilase team from front facing staff to the nurses , receptionists , optometrists and surgeons have been FIRST CLASS !!! They made my journey and post op journey seamless !!! Life changing - 20/20 vision ! Quick and painless ! Highly recommend these guys ! Shout out to Claire and Jordan on South William Street amongst countless others !!

The experience was great. The staff were genuinely nice and made you feel welcomed. Any questions answered with no hesitation.

While getting the surgery done they were talking away to you as if it was just another day - for you of course it isn’t, for them it is but they made you feel like it was just another day.

Great, best decision I made was having lasik!

I always wanted to get laser eye surgery but was always too scared, I finally plucked up the courage to go for a consultation and it was smooth sailing from there, I was recommended to use an eye mask for a couple weeks to improve any chances of the surgery being cancelled, and when it came to the day of the surgery, I was first in that morning at 7am, everyone was amazing, especially the nurses who talked me through everything and explained the aftercare and also made me feel at ease. The surgery itself was so fine, a little uncomfortable, but totally manageable, not painful at all and was over super quick. All the staff in the operating room were super nice and supportive. I was on the way home shortly after 8am after being given lots of eye drops and instructions. My eyes were extremely sensitive to light and very watery when I opened them, but after a nap and by lunch time I could see perfectly, the sensitivity was almost gone. I couldn’t get over how fast it worked and quick the sensitivity went. I had a couple follow up appointments to ensure recovery was going well and I now have better than twenty twenty vision. I wish I did it ten years ago and don’t know why I was so scared and nervous about the surgery, it was uncomfortable at parts but not painful! Would highly recommend to anyone eligible, it’s life changing!
